How do I change my screen to 64-bit?
so this has happened twice now in the past month, my mb is in screen saver mode and i wake it up to find that the color is off in the screen. meaning that the color settings changed and the screen has a swashed out blue tint to it. first time i restarted and all was good, second time i clicked on the preferences icon and then the screen went back to its normal setting. my normal setting is not the factory one but one of the ones that people said makes the screen look better.
so what gives, is the integrated chip dieing on me?
oh its a unibody that i got when they first came out, 2.0 processor one all factory
I was working on my computer and needed to reboot. When my Safari came back up the arrangement on the screen was completely different. The overall layout was different and I lost a few of my bookmarks in the process. Is there anyway to get it back to my old screen layout?

View 3 Replies View RelatedOne thing I hate about the new 10.6.4 is that the names of Screen shots are a block and a half long... as they include that day and time..fair enough, but many dialog boxes in BB's where I want to post some screen shots trunciate that making finding it a time consuming thing. before it simply said screen shot and a number...anyway I can go back to that method/system that does not require a PHD in computer programing. I have googled it, and there are things about writing 'scripts' etc... (that loses me completely...anyone know an easier method... (and when apple change things like this, why dont they give the option to use the old ways...?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed Snow Leopard. Everything went well but I had one problem. I used DVI-HDMI cable to connect my Monitor. My monitor resolution is 1920x1200, and it doesn't have a DVI port. Only VGA and HDMI. Everything worked fine with Leopard, and I can see the 1920x1200 option listed in the System Prefs. But in SL, this option disappeared, instead they added 480p,720p,1080i, and 1080p.

A few months ago I changed my logon screen background to something more desirable for my tastes. Recently, I updated my software to vers. 10.7.4 and the update reverted my custom logon screen back to the original. I tried changing it back, but it seems as though the location of the image has been changed as when I navigated there, my original "Custom image" was still there, but my actual logon screen still displays the factory image. What gives? Where do I go to change back to my custom image?

I have an iBook clamshell with os X 10.3.9 running. I want to play some older games, like Diablo 1, squirrel kombat, etc.
What I can't find out anywhere is how to change the resolution for games. I know for older games (at least on PC) that there was a file that stored your settings, like sound card, resolution, etc.
I can't find anything like that here. Diablo 1 says that it needs to have a minimum of 640 X 480. I want to set it at 800 X 600.
Update, it looks like Diablo is running in classic mode (I thought it would run in OS X) anyway, the question is still the same!

When I push the brightness key on the keyboard, the appropriate image comes up on screen and goes to full brightness, but the actual brightness of the screen doesn't change and the lack of change is reflected correctly on the brightness slider in System Preferences.

I'm trying to redo the ridiculous naming system for our Macs in our office. I've changed the Computer name to "MP-01" and the local hostname to "MP-01.local" correctly. However when selecting the screen sharing option, i get the following:
Screen Sharing: On
Other users can access your computer at [URL] or browse for MP-01.
The domain is our personal domain and that looks fine. But the employee name that precedes it, I can't find where to change that. The weird thing is it wasn't the name of the Computer before I changed it, nor is it an employee that has ever used this machine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife accidentaly dropped our ibook with the screen open. It landed on the corner of the screen, and the right hinge cracked a bit.It still close, but not perfect. It also seems that the hinge get worse every time I open and close it, so I left it open.happened a couople of weeks ago, and the machine it self runs perfect (or so it seems, no trouble since)I took it to my local Apple center and they said the hinge is a part of the screen, so to fix it they?ll have to change the screen. This is very expensive, especially due to the fact that it still works perfectly. The guy added that they MIGHT be able to improvise and just glue (or whatever) the hinge What do youthink are the chances that they can fix it without changing the screen?
View 24 Replies View RelatedAs I use the web I often use shift + apple + 3 or 4 to take screen captures of things I like and want to remember.
This saves the file to the desktop. Is there a way to change the save location?
Also I've been then adding the clippings to a PS file but this is getting to time consuming and dull to manage.
Is there a better option?
I do really like the way I dont have to use another application to take the screen shot but there is no management...
My wife's aluminium MacBook bought six months ago has run cool until the last few days. Now when she leaves the machine alone and the screen saver comes on, the fan cranks up to 3800-4800 rpm. The screen saver hasn't changed, nor has anything else with the exception of the recent software updates. Does anyone know if the new Safari update (or the iLife updates) could cause this type of problem?

I was at the Apple store for almost an hour this morning jumping between anti-glare and glossy MBPs. To my shock, I thought the smaller real estate produced much sharper, easier to read text on a glossy screen, but I love the 17".
