I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem that I am right now. After today's (28/7) system update, which included the MagicPad app, I can't seem to turn off the annoying smooth scrolling from any software in my late 2009 MacBook Pro.

How can I turn off smooth scrolling in Lion? In case of Leopard, there is option on "System Preferences, Appearance".
Is there an option for smooth scrolling in Safari for Windows 7? It is very hard to on the eyes to see the text page jump around. Mac OS seems fine.

It also happens on YouTube when I scroll down to view the comments, it is slow when I scroll through where the video is and it speeds up when at the comments.
I have a white shell Fall 2007 (Santa Rosa) Macbook with a 120gb 7200 RPM hard drive. I bought a new 320gb hard drive and snow leopard today and want to ensure that I won't lose anything if I back my hard drive up as a "regular leopard" machine and then try and recall the files after installing the new drive as a "snow leopard" running system.

I am totally impressed with the speed of the machine, except Firefox scrolling performance when Smooth Scrolling feature is activated. (Preferences > Advanced > "Use smooth scrolling")
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use MBP (2,6G, 4Gb DDR2, Leopard 10.5.5), and I want to disable horizontal scrolling because it become annoying when I'm working with spreadsheet (always move right or left by it self....really annoying ). When I used Powerbook (1,5G, 1,25Gb DDR2, Tiger 10.4.11) there is an option to disable / enable this feature..it's great. But with this MBP and Leopard 10.5.5 there is no option for horizontal scrolling.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBut today, for kicks, I switched the wheel on my VX Revolution to the hyper-fast smooth scrolling, and tried it in Safari in Snow Leopard. Wow! It functions like I thought it should've functioned - the page actually scrolls with the wheel, instead of in indents like the click-click wheel, but without the click (I hope you know what I meant!). I never knew the VX Revolution has the capability to output this kind of detailed feedback from the wheel!
This should work with any Logitech mouse that has the hyper-fast scrolling wheel.
I was wondering if there was a way to enable scroll button click scrolling in Safari 4 on Snow Leopard?
I'm sure there's a proper term for it, but what I mean is when you press down on the scroll wheel and a circle appears on screen with two arrows, when you move your mouse up or down it allows you to scroll through long documents quicker. I think Firefox and Internet Explorer have it.
I read that USB Overdrive might be of use, but it wont recognise my mouse (Logitech MX 620).
There appears to be some kind of mouse scrolling acceleration - how do I turn it off? It is incredibly annoying and I see lots of people like me trying to find out how to turn it off.

This is driving me nuts*the new Magic Mouse is so touchy that while I am working in Photoshop or Illustrator, it is constantly shifting the page around.
Imagine you were using the Hand tool, and it was moving left, right, up down at random
I have been looking for a way to disable this, but can't find anything application specific.
I play a game called Minecraft on the Windows Side of my iMac. I know your going to say, "Why don't you just play on the Mac side?" For our users Keychain is a nightmare - especially because they do not remember the first password - as the network enforces them to change it every 90 days. With this the keychain pop keeps coming up constantly and is affecting the users working. So I would like to know how to stop keychain or to disable it?

I have this really annoying and recurring problem; I never used mobileme but somehow the 'sync' functionality has been activated, its icon remains in the menubar.
At the most inconvenient moments the d--n thing will attempt to sync and give me (fault)messages, most recently it has been trying to sync my Google address-book with the one on my MacPro. How can I deactivate this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Apple's OSX Mail app, I've got a mailbox that connects to an server that is no longer valid. That is, the address no longer works. I'd like to have Mail stop checking that address. But I'd like to keep everything as is otherwise, if possible. In Mail preferences, I tried unchecking "include when automatically checking mail" -- but the account still gets checked when I hit "Get Mail" manually. I tried unchecking the box for "enable this account", too, but when I do that, all messages in that mailbox seem to disappear. Are they saved anywhere? I don't want to lose them and I still want to be able to search them.

I recently upgraded to SL and the internet connection works fine, but every 1o minutes or so I get a pop up window which says:
'Network Connection'This is a reminder that your connection is still active. Do you wish to remain connected?
On Tiger it was easy to disable this reminder, but I can't seem to be able to do the same on SL.
I have an original MacBook (1,1) that I use without the lid (the display was destroyed, and replacement was too dear, so I took the top off altogether). It's actually a pretty handy desktop. One problem is that sometimes windows go astray because the "Displays" setting is set for two screens (mirroring does'nt work because it reduces the resolution to 800x600). I am wondering if there is anyway to trick the macbook into thinking the lid is closed, and/or disabling the internal display altogether (basically so that only the external monitor is recognized).

My kids HD just started to fail. Apple replaced it this AM, however my kid's TM backup is about 5 months old. I am trying to recover the data from the old disk.
She put the old disk into an enclosure and connected it to her MBP. As I try to copy as much of the drive as possible it gets an error, ejects, then reconnects and give an annoying message that I didn’t eject properly. This is making it very difficult to get all the data off.
I figured if I mounted read-only that it’d stop doing that, but it does not. I’ve run fsck, etc…
All I need is for this stupid machine to log errors and move on just like single user mode. However, I cannot use single user mode because I am 2000 miles away from the machine. And using Facetime to remote control my kid has pushed me to the edge. There has to be a way to make OSX as “unfriendly” as Linux. OSX needs a “pro” mode.
So, I ask again. How do I stop OSX from auto ejecting a disk when it errors?
I cannot disable the Correct Spelling Automatically feature. Rather, I can, but once I close and reopen the application it will be reenabled. I first noticed the issue when I upgraded from Trillian 1.2.20 to 1.2.40, but I just tested this in TextEdit and the issue exists there as well.

I am trying to access my exchange server for work. The autodiscover sets the exchange server to the wrong site (whether this is a Mail issue or a server issue, I'm not sure...); I am trying to disable autodiscover so that I can manually set the exchange server in a permanent way. Is this possible? When I contacted IT at work, this was their response: "Mac users are pointed to a different server address due to incompatibilities with the Mac applications that handle mail (Entourage, Macmail). The issue is that an auto-discover feature within the application causes the software to connect to the incorrect address automatically, therefore you must change it each time. Unfortunately Macmail and Entourage cannot disable this function and we recommend using Outlook 2011 for Mac. There is a script file available to disable autodiscovery in Outlook 2011 and it will retain the proper mail server settings."

Was wondering if there is some way to disable the auto-open cursor hover feature? (Not sure what else to call it). It's driving me nuts. It's most disfunctional with Safari--for example when I'm trying to find a specific webpage in the Histor-- if I don't keep moving the cursor constantly, whatever URL the cursor happens to be over will just open and load. Then I have to start over again. This seems to happen sometimes on the desktop as well.

How do I disable Time Machine on my MacBook Pro to let me install Snow Leopard. From what I can see Time Machine is programmed to back-up on the hard disc and the install programme for Snow leopard is looking for another place to install - there is no other place. How do install the new OS?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is not a question about the highlight color that you set in system preferences. When you search for text, the found text jumps out at you in blaring yellow, all too literally in your face. This was useful when they first introduced it in Safari-- but now it's all over the OS. In a text editor, where the search result might be a whole paragraph, it's agonizing. It's getting to where I have to look away from the screen when I hit Search, and wait a moment for the color to die down. Isn't there any way to disable it? It hurts my eyes.I found a thread from pretty exactly two years ago asking the same question:[url]
