Can somebody help me to disable my Gmail account from my mac?. I rather sign in to Gmail than have instant acces to my account, since im not the only person thar uses the computer.
View 3 RepliesIn Apple's OSX Mail app, I've got a mailbox that connects to an server that is no longer valid. That is, the address no longer works. I'd like to have Mail stop checking that address. But I'd like to keep everything as is otherwise, if possible. In Mail preferences, I tried unchecking "include when automatically checking mail" -- but the account still gets checked when I hit "Get Mail" manually. I tried unchecking the box for "enable this account", too, but when I do that, all messages in that mailbox seem to disappear. Are they saved anywhere? I don't want to lose them and I still want to be able to search them.

I upgraded to Snow Leopard (might only actually be since 10.6.1) my Gmail account set up as IMAP in mail.app keeps going offline with the following error message: quote: There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account �Gmail� or try again. The server returned the error: Account exceeded bandwidth limits. (Failure) I am way under the Gmail quota. Has this happened to anyone else?

The autodiscover sets the exchange server to the wrong site (whether this is a Mail issue or a server issue, I'm not sure...); I am trying to disable autodiscover so that I can manually set the exchange server in a permanent way. Is this possible? When I contacted IT at work, this was their response: "Mac users are pointed to a different server address due to incompatibilities with the Mac applications that handle mail (Entourage, Macmail). The issue is that an auto-discover feature within the application causes the software to connect to the incorrect address automatically, therefore you must change it each time. Unfortunately Macmail and Entourage cannot disable this function and we recommend using Outlook 2011 for Mac. There is a script file available to disable autodiscovery in Outlook 2011 and it will retain the proper mail server settings."

I am with my brand new MBP running snow leopard, setting up my gmail in Mail.app, account settings identical to my iMac (still running 10.5), and it keeps throwing up a timeout error on port 993. It seems that re-entering the password in the account settings window makes it work for a while, until the next operation starts, then it times out again. Anyone having these problems?
View 7 Replies View RelatedEver since upgrading to Snow Leopard and using Apple Mail, I have been getting the following error after a day or so of use: "Account exceeded bandwidth limits." Eventually I am able to access GMail via IMAP with Apple Mail, but only for about a day before this error occurs again. This doesn't affect my access to GMail via the web interface. Nothing has changed with my use of GMail since before the Snow Leopard upgrade and I've seen scattered reports of this on the 'net, but nothing that nails down a solid connection between the Snow Leopard upgrade and this error.

Since yesterday the mail programme on my iMac does not download e-mails from the gmail server, but luckily I still can send e-mails. On the iPhone I still receive e-mails and I can send e-mails. The iPhone is connected to the internet either via 3G or the same router I am using for the iMac.
Via the Safari browser I do have access to all my e-mails on the gmail server. Mail: Version 4.5 (1084)

I have an issue with setting up my Gmail account for IMAP. I followed all of the instructions of Google's website, but I am having an issue with setting up the Spam. Reading Google's site it says that when I delete Spam from [Gmail]/Spam that the e-mail should be deleted; however the e-mail appears instead in [Gmail]/All Mail. This also happens if I delete something from [Gmail]/Deleted. My question is how can I change my settings so that (1) the e-mail/spam is permanently deleted or (2) at sent ONLY to the trash and not [Gmail]/All Mail? This also occurs on my iPhone, but I have the mail accounts synced between my phone and computer do if I fixed one I fix the other.

I have this really annoying and recurring problem; I never used mobileme but somehow the 'sync' functionality has been activated, its icon remains in the menubar.
At the most inconvenient moments the d--n thing will attempt to sync and give me (fault)messages, most recently it has been trying to sync my Google address-book with the one on my MacPro. How can I deactivate this?

If I disable Postscript Pass-Through option on the driver the 28 page documents takes two minutes to print. I need to know if there is a similar option in Mac OS 10.6.8?

Font Book is not disabling selected fonts. They continue to be loaded into any open application, causing slow performance. Besides removing the fonts entirely from Font Book, is there any workaround? I'm using OS 10.6.8.

Right now it's only Gmail that I can't access but sometimes it's the whole Google domain. I've got the correct DNS settings for my ISP as well as running Safari in 64-bit mode. My Windows PC (on the same router as the Macs) connects to the Google domain fine.

Can anyone tell me how to correctly configure Apple Mail (Leopard) with Gmail IMAP so that you don�t have to keep a duplicate of all emails from the �All Mail� folder on my local drive? Basically, when Mail syncs, it downloads all messages, then it downloads them again because they reside in the �All Mail� folder in Gmail�s web interface. Any suggestions would be appreciated as this takes up twice the amount of space that it should.

Now I can no longer send attachments and if I try to forward an email that has a bit going on in it like a group-on email or something similar it won't send that either. I get a message Cannot send message using the server [URL]:(my emailaddress)[URL]Sending the message content to the server failed I have searched for answers all over the net, have tried google help pages that suggest I remove my email address from the outgoing server details but NOTHING works. Today I finally gave up on Apple Mail and tried entourage - same result in that I couldn't send anything with attachements but a different error message.
I hadn't changed anything when it stopped working and it can't be the settings because every now and then I get an attachment through. There is lots on the net but I haven't found anything that works or all the stuff I am reading is really old. and also, just to finally drive me over the edge I got sent an email with an attachment today that didn't come through onto my mac. If I go onto gmail via safari there is my attachment. In Mail, it doesn't even give me a hint that it's there

I recently upgraded to SL and the internet connection works fine, but every 1o minutes or so I get a pop up window which says:
'Network Connection'This is a reminder that your connection is still active. Do you wish to remain connected?
On Tiger it was easy to disable this reminder, but I can't seem to be able to do the same on SL.
I have an original MacBook (1,1) that I use without the lid (the display was destroyed, and replacement was too dear, so I took the top off altogether). It's actually a pretty handy desktop. One problem is that sometimes windows go astray because the "Displays" setting is set for two screens (mirroring does'nt work because it reduces the resolution to 800x600). I am wondering if there is anyway to trick the macbook into thinking the lid is closed, and/or disabling the internal display altogether (basically so that only the external monitor is recognized).

My kids HD just started to fail. Apple replaced it this AM, however my kid's TM backup is about 5 months old. I am trying to recover the data from the old disk.
She put the old disk into an enclosure and connected it to her MBP. As I try to copy as much of the drive as possible it gets an error, ejects, then reconnects and give an annoying message that I didn’t eject properly. This is making it very difficult to get all the data off.
I figured if I mounted read-only that it’d stop doing that, but it does not. I’ve run fsck, etc…
All I need is for this stupid machine to log errors and move on just like single user mode. However, I cannot use single user mode because I am 2000 miles away from the machine. And using Facetime to remote control my kid has pushed me to the edge. There has to be a way to make OSX as “unfriendly” as Linux. OSX needs a “pro” mode.
So, I ask again. How do I stop OSX from auto ejecting a disk when it errors?
I cannot disable the Correct Spelling Automatically feature. Rather, I can, but once I close and reopen the application it will be reenabled. I first noticed the issue when I upgraded from Trillian 1.2.20 to 1.2.40, but I just tested this in TextEdit and the issue exists there as well.

Was wondering if there is some way to disable the auto-open cursor hover feature? (Not sure what else to call it). It's driving me nuts.It's most disfunctional with Safari--for example when I'm trying to find a specific webpage in the Histor-- if I don't keep moving the cursor constantly, whatever URL the cursor happens to be over will just open and load.Then I have to start over again. This seems to happen sometimes on the desktop as well.

This was useful when they first introduced it in Safari-- but now it's all over the OS. In a text editor, where the search result might be a whole paragraph, it's agonizing.
