OS X :: HP PSC 1510 All-In-One Not Scanning In SL?
Dec 4, 2009
I was surprised not to find more info on this issue with googling. My PSC 1510 will not scan in Snow Leopard. I know this was a popular printer, so I thought if everyone had this trouble, it would show up in search.Since hp support is built-in to SL, I stopped using the HP scanning software. This printer is listed as being supported by HP in SL. I've tried using Preview, Image Capture, and Print & Fax to scan. The iMac says scanner cannot be found, and my MBP says scanner is warming, and it never does anything. Correct drivers are installed.
Just one small hiccup with my lovely new machine - my samsung ML-1510 mono laser printer has no intel mac driver available and I can't print, i've searched all-over but to no avail.
These question my sound kind of silly, because I have not used a digital scanner in 20 years. Can I scan and edit a typed piece of paper onto a word processor?
I usually do all of my scanning within Photoshop, and yes I do know there are other ways, that's just the way I roll. I have just upgraded to CS3 and cannot scan. The twain driver does not even appear in the 'Import' menu within Photoshop CS3. CS2 still works. I have downloaded the most recent driver for my scanner (EPSON RX510 multifunction), but to no avail. Is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone know of a remedy?
I had not scanned with my HP Photosmart since I bought a new iMac. The printer prints just fine. HP is no help saying that a software update comes with Lion. Obviously it does not work since my HP utility just puts up a complex error message consisting of a lot of computer code.
I keep noticing that my MacBook keeps scanning for the network I'm currently signed on to. Is this behavior normal or should I take it in to the Mac store.
Picked up a 2.8 IMac a couple days ago and for some reason when I am online it keeps auto scanning for a signal when its already connected to my wireless signal. The internet doesn't work when it does this but if I click on the spot that says auto scanning it switches to on and the internet starts working.
I have a HP All-In-One C5180 printer, scanner, copier, card reader.Every-time there is a MacOSX update then the scanner no longer responds.I have it connected to my AirPort Extreme wired ethernet, and I access it wirelessly; and also I have tried connecting it directly to my MacBook Pro via wired ethernet also.I don't have a USB cable, and don't want to go that routeIt had worked fine for some time, and like I wrote after some software update it doesn't respond.
I am tired of uninstalling and reinstalling the HP software, in the past it worked to fix the problem, but nowadays this "fix" isn't working for me.What i would like to explore now is if there is a way I can use the scanner with another software, preferably a free one.
I have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.5.8. I have recently started having trouble staying connected to the internet via my wireless connection. I'm constantly getting disconnected from the internet - the AirPort status in the menu bar can have 4-5 bars, but I can still be dropped. When I click on the AirPort status in the menu bar, you can see the AirPort status going back and forth from "AirPort: On" to "AirPort: Scanning" continuously. It's very difficult to sign up for anything online when my connection keeps dropping. It's also very difficult to watch anything that's being streamed without it buffering all the time. I'm definitely technologically challenged, but it seems like it should be working and it seems like it should be a common sense kind of thing, but I'm not able to work it out on my own - my apple care has expired and I can get NO answers from Apple unless I want to pay for them.

Recently, I have been having difficulty with Preview 5.5.2 freezing while scanning from an HP Officejet 6500. I have been using the same arrangement (iMac, HP Printer, internet connection, etc.) for about 5 months with no problems. I scan documents for archiving, but in the past week, or so, when I try to open the scanner (printer) within the Preview App (file-->Import From Scanner-->HP OfficeJet 6500) the import window pops open, but I cannot select scanning details. Usually, I would do this by clicking the "Overview" button. Now, when I click the "Overview" button, I get a blank import screen. Through reviewing the various online resources, I have done the following:
- Library (get info) - In the Library Info window (right click...get info) all the users are set to "Read & Write".
- Library (containers) - I trashed all the contents of the "com.apple.Preview" and "com.apple.TextEdit" folders within the "Containers" folder. Upon reboot, no noticable change, although the information in the folder was reloaded.
- Library (preferences) - Trashed the Preview preferences, rebooted, then tried to scan again. When I launched Preview, I was able to see the "Overview" details and select scan, but the scan froze on page 3 out of a 10 page doc.

I am running 10.4.11 (Tiger) on a MacBook. I started up my HP Photosmart all-in-one (printer/copier/scanner) c4780 today, and it does everything except the one thing I want it to do: SCAN. The software had been installed previously using the provided installation CD when I used it several months ago (it's been turned off since), and each part (including the scanner) worked perfectly. I am still using a USB cable, as I do not have access to the Wireless Network Key. The System Profile recognizes the device through the USB port, and I am able to print from any program on my computer as well as use the copy function on the machine itself.
So far, in no particular order (and likely multiple times), to troubleshoot, I've repaired disk permissions, uninstalled the software, reinstalled from the CD, reinstalled from the website, rebooted my computer, turned off/on the printer, disconnected/reconnected the USB cable, Googled about every combination of words I could think of for troubleshooting this issue, and tried every other program suggested by HP's website to access the scanner (Import on Preview and Image Capture, both of which tell me that there is no image capture device connected/found). When I try to access the scanner function through the HP Photosmart Studio software, it searches for a scanner but never turns up any results (in that it never reaches a conclusion). When I use the scan button on the physical printer, either nothing happens or I get an error message telling me there is a connection issue; regardless of the message, the lamp does not move (like it does when it copies).
To my recollection, the only software updates I've installed in the interim have been pre-mandated ones from Apple: three Java Script updates I'd been putting off for installing for almost two years. I recently downloaded and ran MacScan, purging my system of tracking applications in an attempt to coach another program that just started having problems to run. On the touch screen printer menu itself, there do not appear to be any setup options, so I can't tweak anything on the printer's end. At this point, I'm not sure if the fault lies with my computer or the printer.

i've used paperport before and it is very easy to use. i have a canon lide 30 and canoscan sucks for creating pdf's from a multipage source, no drag and drop and can't make it make sequencial scans that auto combines to one document. i'm trying to get my paper stuff more organized, and dump the paper
any suggestions so can make my canon lide rock and then if i ever get another scanner i can simply add this software.
ClamX av for scanning e-mails to Windows PCs. I never forward emails...do I still need to have an email av scanner? Is ClamX something that needs constant tending (ie. updating, manual scans, etc); I'm trying to get away from these annoying aspects of running Windows on a PC.
I'm already connected to a wi-fi and seeing as i'm on a desktop I don't think i'm going to be connecting to many others so how do I stop my AirPort card scanning for new networks constantly?
So i got this hair-brained idea the other day. I wanted to make a media server (mac mini + external drives shared out to my other machines. Mac mini hooked up to tv.) Then i thought...well i might as well use it as my data server as well. So...id like to find a program (free is good, but cheap is ok =P ) that i can use a scanner, scan in receipts, documents, taxes, etc... and store them so i can go paperless. The app must have a folder structure so i can organize them by year/month/item. I could do this manually, but i figure an app would be more useful
Any mac apps available? I'm a recent switcher (3 months ago) so i havent been able to find anything yet with my searches.
Does anyone know any good app for scanning? For now I use Image Capture but is a bit limited! I usually scan music cd covers so I need something more detailed in order to scan the front and back covers accurately!
I just bought as internal hard drive for my Mac Pro, to back up everything from the system drive. I was just wondering, the drive came through the post, it was well packaged, though is there was way of scanning it to see whether its 100% condition? Would I format it by in Disk Utility by clicking on the drive and pressing erase.
I have just installed a new HP6380 all in one for use with my iMac using OS X v.10.5.8. All seems to be working fine except scanning pdf's to preview. Everything looks fine in the scan preview but the finished results in Preview comes in about 20 degrees crooked cutting off the corners of the document. The same thing happens when I scan a pdf to desktop.
I'm running OS X 10.4.11, and I cannot get either Image Capture or Preview to do their scan function. Neither program will recognize my Epson Stylus NX400 scanner/printer. Both programs just give me a message stating that the SANE program is in use by another application ( I downloaded some TWAIN SANE files for my version of Gimp, which also does not want to recognize the Epson).
I purchased an Epson Workforce 4530 all in one printer. Using this machine, so far, is less than an all in one experience with OS Lion. I seem to be unable to fax from my computer, and scanning from the computer via wifi connection requires I use Image Capture, rather than the Epson software. Using Image Capture to scan multipage documents is less than desirable as it scans each page as an individual image/file.
