View 4 RepliesI got iLife 11. I would like to play on a keyboard like the guy did in the Apple Keynote two days ago. I got a new 13inch MacBook Pro. I'm looking at these instruments:

Would I need anything else if I buy one of these? Can I just connect it via USB to my laptop and start playing?
I have only just got a MIDI keyboard conencted via USB to control the software instruments on Garageband. The only problem I am finding is if I say, sample some drums, I can only play them back by manually placing them in the chord orchestrator.
What I basically need/want is to control the track (the part on the left) by a single press on the keyboard; so if I wanted 2 kicks to sound, I'd press the key twice. But at the moment it's just not registering at all, and only allows me to play the stock software instruments with the keyboard
I'm looking for some useful app for writing sheets for piano. I tried o use Finale Print music 2009 but it was only a demo and I don't want to pay for it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of a program that can take an audio sample of piano and turn it into sheet music? I don't know if this will help, but here's the peice I'm interested in turning into sheet music: Dave Matthews Band's #41 mp3. This is for myself only, and I don't plan on sharing this. I understand this is the artist's work, and he should own the rights to it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 MIDI controller via USB into Logic Express 7. I use Mac OSX. I'm going straight from the Keystation Pro 88 into the MIDI port of my MacBook Pro. I use a Pre Sonus Firepod as my audio interface (not sure if that's even relevant...).
When I begin playing too many notes (especially after pressing the sustain), the piano (Garage Band grand piano .exs) starts to cut out. It sounds like BAD static, as if the MIDI were overloading Logic. I've tried changing the buffer size in audio preferences - it gets no better, only worse when I lower the size (32 being nothing but static).
Garageband will not re-install on my computer.?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz running OS X 10.5.2 in 4Gb of RAM with approx 60Gb hard disk space free. GarageBand goes through initialising process, the programme menu items appear briefly and then it terminates with no further indication of what is going on. Anyone else suffering the same problem ? I am using the latest updated version of GB.

View 7 Replies View Related I have Garageband 08. I want a remove the vocals from a music and create an instrumental. Can I do this in Garageband? If not what software do you guys recommend?
If anyone is wondering, I'm trying to create a ringtone with just instrumentals.
I am having a frustrating time with one aspect of garageband I can't seem to resolve. Here is the situation - if I record a multitrack live performance and save the entire 60 minute+ file it is 3.12GB in size.
If I then edit the file down into 7 minute, and 5 minute sections from the master file - they are still saving as 3.12GB files. It is as if I can't get rid of all of the contents of the master file when I edit down shorter i.e. smaller sections.
Every time I export a song out of GarageBand, the volume for the MP3 track is too low. I have to blast my volume in order to hear it. In the old GarageBand, the volume would usually be too loud on the MP3 track, but now it is the opposite.
I have tried adjusting the Master Volume and the Track Volume in GB and have still had no luck. The volume problem happens when I export a track containing only Apple Loops. If the track contains music played by my keyboard, then the volume is fine.
Instead of reinstalling GB on another HD by CD/DVD, is it possible to just take the GB Library Folder and take the app too? Or is it not possible? If I can, do I need any other files?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to remix a song, and when I record myself sing, there's a buzzing noise. Very steady buzz, that keeps going and never stops.
NOTE: I do not use a microphone, mine is built in. Please help me to get rid of it.
I do not know how or why but for some strange reason, my garageband application in my dock showed a question mark behind it and when I went into applications, it was nowhere to be found! Can anyone at least hint to me how this application just vanishes? I did not delete it but it is gone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having Trouble when i connect my guitar to my imac I'm using the midi guitar cable that i bought from the Apple shop along with my imac a few years back.
I'm just about to start recording some of my own music Bass,Drum, guitar. Everything is pretty much sorted but since i started to use garageband 09 i keep getting this message pop up (Below).
It's getting to the point of frustration because no matter what option i select it will still pop up. Please can anyone shed any light on this for me and help please.
I have a couple questions regarding GarageBand 08 and recording with it.
1) Is it possible to connect a vocal mic to GarageBand, put an effect on that, and have a live output of the signal coming from the mic with the effect on it without having to record the audio first?
2) I have a Yamaha keyboard that has a MIDI and 1/4" jack output on. I am interested in connecting the keyboard to my Mac for use in recording. Would it be possible to run the audio signal from the 1/4" jack to the 1/8" jack on my Mac and record the audio in GarageBand and be able to apply effects to that track (i.e. synthesizers)?
I know that GB '08 was JUST released so I don't know if anyone would have a definitive answer. I've already checked on Apple's support pages to no avail, so here it goes. Does GB '08 finally have support for MIDI out? Previous versions did not have this feature, so I'm hoping that this version will. one?. I've used midiO in the past with my version of GB (the iLife 05' version) but it's always locked up GB for me, so I'm hoping for a native feature this time around.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI noticed that the MBA only has one headphone jack.
Now is that both input and output? If its not input then i would need one of those fast track things im guessing.
I have both input and output on my hackintosh which I can use to record my electric guitar on GarageBand.
I hope I don't have to buy a fast track as not sure how it would run over a USB hub.
I have garageband 3.03 (06 Version) and I'm trying to make a dubstep song. I need to do that thing with the bass where it slows and speeds, but where you can turn up the track volume there is no speed setting so you can speed up and slow down parts of the track.
