OS X :: Expose And Dashboard Triggered On Boot

I've had this strange problem for a while now, and I can't figure out what's going on. Whenever I wake my Macbook Pro (Santa Rosa, 15", June 2007, Snow Leopard) from sleep or restart it, expose immediately runs on all open windows to show all windows, then the dashboard comes up, then it goes away. Sometimes it happens in the other order, sometimes whichever comes second doesn't exit back to the screen as it's supposed to be. What's going on with this? I don't get it. I've reset the PRAM, no change. Repairs permissions, no effect. It happens when plugged in and unplugged, which using the internal keyboard or my external one.

Is it possible to configure USB Overdrive to access Dashboard and Expose using the middle mouse button and one of the thumb buttons?
The control panel has options for what actions to take when these buttons are pressed, but Dashboard/Expose are not among the choices. Trying to assign a keystroke to the buttons doesn't work either because when I try, the keys activate Dashboard or Expose rather than capturing the key in USB Overdrive's keystroke window.

Right now both of these keep popping up when using the Macbook pro trackpad AND the mouse. We are not using them anyway and want them disabled.

I have F8-F12 (without fn) mapped to spaces/expose/dashboard, and ever since I installed Snow Leopard, at random times my computer will stop registering them as "hey, open up dashboard" and interpret it as "hey, F12 was pressed, let's send this along to Firefox or Terminal or whatever". Sleeping or user switching doesn't help, I need to reboot.

So, will there be any way to evoke expose and dashboard on the new mouse? I don't use dashboard that frequently, but I do use expose all the time. So, is there like some sort of multitouch gesture or any way to evoke such functions?

one has a broken scroll wheel,one is perfectly functional,and another is still new in the box.when plugged into my Mac mini the all of them can trigger expose (squeeze) and dashboard (middle button) every time. right click works beautifully.however when i plug them into my MacBook and set it up for spaces (middle button) and expose (squeeze) - neither of the functions work.

2009 Macbook Pro 15.4" 4gb RAM (Unibody)HD 500.11 GB FUJITUS MJA2... I tried to install an update for 10.7.4 via the combo package. The update says it failed so I tried to install it again- every time I got to finalizing/moving things around stage of the update it would say that it failed. I believe it may have succeeded, at least partially. I went to restart my machine and now I am stuck at the Apple logo Grey screen. I have tried the following: Shift for safemode: it got me through to user login once, but then I hit restart and reset the PRAM and after that no more safe mode success.Safemode now fills up the progress bar to a certain point and then the bar just disappears and I'm left with the spinning gear of infinity. Verbose mode/single user mode: got me to a screen white text ending in: "mac framework successfully initialized using 16384 buffer headers and 10240 cluster I0 buffer headers"There is no input allowed.Target mode successfully gives me the target symbol, but I have not tried to access it as a drive.
I have managed to boot into CMD-R recovery mode and tried to repair my disk. Unfortunately it reads in red 'Error: Disk Utility can't repair this disk....disk, and restore your backed-up files.' Upon 'Verify Disk' it red errors out with: Invalid node structure. The volume Macintosh HD coudl not be verified completely. Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk.
when I try to do other boot-key combos sometimes it will just turn on for a brief second and then turn back off again. I have never tinkered around inside my machine either.I don't have a current backup, I suppose that is what I will be doing now via target mode. I have also checked for the flashback virus a couple weeks ago and was in the clear.

I put "levelwidget" on the dashboard - it is supposed to make a macbook into a Level. Sounded interesting...now I regret! The widget is corrupted and now when I try to open the dashboard it immediately closes and gives me an error message "you can't open the application motion because power pc applications are no longer supported" How do I delete this widget so I can open the dashboard. I've tried to look up the file, but can't seem to find dashboard widget files. Â

So this evening I finally upgraded my MacBook (1.83GHz, first generation) to Leopard. (I am not a luddite, but rather just really behind the times.) I had previously been using OS X 10.4.11, and upgraded via a retail OS X 10.5.4 installation disk (legally acquired).
Everything seemed to go swimmingly.
But then I noticed that my F7 key, which previously controlled the Expose "All windows" function (indeed, it is labeled as such), has stopped functioning properly. It no longer controls the Expose "All windows" function. That function is now handled by the F9 key.
I have consulted Google, and have tried a number of potential fixes. I've tried to reassign the key function(s) via both the Keyboard & Mouse pane and the Expose & Spaces pane in the System Preferences. No dice.

I'm a new Mac owner (i know i can hear you grown lol) and sorry to ask such a boring question but I can't seem to get my Expose to work, i can get spaces to work just fine although not when using the nominated hot keys - it only works when i click on the icon in the dock. I can't see anything in this forum that really details every step of expose and I don't want to to play with that app too much in case i create an abomination that I don't know how to fix.

As you may or may not know, there is something called the expose blob. It can be activated by typing this into terminal:Now, if done correctly, a little blue blob will appear. According to many resources around the internet that explain this little feature, they simply say that you just need to click it and drag it for it to move. Simple, right? Am I the only one who doesn't like the new Expos� in Snow Leopard? The ability to restrict it to certain apps and expand windows individually is great, but the windows are laid out much less efficiently over the screen. It's neater looking, I suppose, but the window contents are harder to see at a glance.
Does anyone know of a way to revert to old Expos� behavior?

There was another post that brushed on this so I wanted to start one just for this topic. It seems alot of people on here (me included) think that Snow Leopard has effectively ruined the functionality of expose with the new way it arranges windows. I barely use it now since it is much harder to find what I am looking for. For instance, my "downloads" menu from safari is now larger than some of the safari windows themselves! The question: Is there anyway, hacks or otherwise, to revert to the old style of expose?

Sometimes (not always but easy enough to reproduce) when I minimize windows (especially MS Word) and then activate expose to see everything the minimized windows look like this. I've got a completely clean install (no migration assistant etc) of SL 10.6.2 on a 13inch MBP. It's not really a huge problem just curious if anyone else has experienced this? I'm hoping it might disappear in 10.6.3 but I'm sure that is a long shot

I've got a bit of an annoying problem on my macbook running OSx 10.5.7
Whenever I go to expose and click on the window I want to run, for a particular piece of software, it will 90% of the time not come to the front of my screen. Instead I get the window I was on before, I have to try again (quickly afterwards) to get the window I want up.
The only software it happens to is called Aptana Studio. It's quite irritating as I use this for work all the time, and have to flick between this and other programs regularly.

Sometimes with expose I find that I have fifteen windows/browsers open, and want to close a bunch of them. So far I've been selecting each one individually to bring it up, then closing it, then going back into expose to get the next one and do the same. Is there anyway I can just close windows while viewing them in expose without having to select them and exit expose?

I have a 2009 uMBP and recently my expose has been quite laggy. Sometimes it's quite rare but it's often very frequent. Basically when I swipe there is like a delay, you can see it in the video a bit but sometimes it's a lot more obvious and lasts longer.
At first I thought it was my graphics card but games run fine and there are no other graphical hitches. It also definitely is not my hard drive as I have ran loads of tests and none of them say anything is wrong, plus it sounds fine and there have been no crashes etc.
I tried resetting my PRAM and I reset safari. The problem only occurs when Safari is open so I thought that might help but it didn't.
I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and has any suggestions. The video is below and it takes place at around 0:03

I have tap-to-click enabled, so there's 1 finger tap to click. There's 2 finger tap to right click. There's also 4 finger tap to select an app in the application switcher.But no 3 finger tap! It would work beautifully for me if bound to be a middle-click event. I cannot find ANY mention of this, anywhere. The only results I can find are mentions of the bootcamp XP issue with two-finger taps.So here's my question: Is there any way to expose a 3-finger tap as another event?

I was chattin on msn for mac. I went into expose and found a friend talking to me, i clicked it but it would show up. Apparently its completley off the desktop. I had to sign in and out. Is there a fix for this

In viewing the video tutorial for expose, I note that reference is made to use of the f9, f10 & f11 keys to view open files. None of these work for me on my system - the f9 does nothing and the f10, f11 and f12 controls the sound. If I tap the expose icon in the dock, I can see the various files I have open, but if the tutorial is correct, what am I doing wrong?

in the past week or so this minor problem began to occur. expose suddenly doesn't work, my hidden dock won't appear when I move my mouse to the bottom of the screen, when I move my mouse over my bookmarks in Safari, they don't "highlight" like usual, my mouse pointer arrow doesn't change to the "hand" when moving over links, etc. This is very strange, when I click Safari at the top of my screen I actually have to hold down the left click to scroll down to "preferences" or "quit" or whatever. i can't single click and just drag down. i have to actually click and hold.

if I have four windows open in Safari and hit Expose, sometimes the windows are neatly exploded into a square, with each window at a corner of the square. Other times, the same four windows are sort of scattered in a stair-step arrangement. Yet other times, the SAME four windows are just randomly scattered across my desktop.
I'm just curious how Expose determines how to scatter the windows, and if there is something that I can do to control the window scatter order and structure?
