OS X :: Downloaded Some Software Now Getting Pop Ups

So, I downloaded " Safari AdBlocker" from the Apple Store [URL] and it didn't go well. It installed but nothing changed, this is not the first thing that I have installed so I don't think that was a problem, I just felt odd about it,so I uninstalled it. Today I had some pop-ups. Can this AdBlocker be the cause. I should ad that it's not a lot of pop-ups, but some. This is my first Mac so I don't know what I'm doing and I don't know what I'm asking.

About a month ago, a friend who had just purchased his first Mac emailed me and asked why his Dock DownLoad file disappeared. I had no idea why. He still hasn't been able to reestablish it.
Yesterday, I downloaded something and my Dock DownLoad file vanished. I have tried rebooting, using (useless) Help, Spotlight, Search, and several other things. NO JOY. NO DownLoad file.
1. Does anyone know where to find DownLoad or how to bring it back?
I have experienced several idiosyncrasies with Snow Leopard, but when I call Apple support, they are very nice, but haven't a clue as to why it's happening.
2. Another problem is that the Highlight gets anchored on something in Mail, Word, and some other Apps. When I click somewhere else, the whole area between the "anchor" and what I click on is lit up. Apple doesn't know what causes it. I have to go through multiple machinations to shake it loose. I don't know what it is that causes it or specifically how to "shake it loose". Neither does Apple.
3. When typing in Word or an editor, there are times when the type changes to UpperCase and won;t let go.
Another problem is that, at times, when I click on a file, it fills the screen. Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to find an answer. Nothing, to date.
Apple support can't tell me why the MacMail Inbox spinner disappeared or how to get it back.
There are times when I can't access the hidden Dock. After rebooting and trying other things, the Dock finally shows up but any additions that I have put on the Dock are no longer there.
When I put a DVD in the slot, for the first few seconds, it grinds but does smooth out.
I thought that SL was supposed to get rid of the "foibles". "What happened on the way to the Forum"?
Is anyone finding other SL idiosyncrasies? What are they?
If anyone can help with items 1., 2, and/or 3. I'd be grateful.
BTW, Apple says that items 2 and 3 MAY be caused by the wireless Magic Mouse and/or the wireless keyboard; however, when I use alternates, it still happens.

My boyfriend and I were trying to spiff up my mac. (I have a mac mini btw) Anyway, we went onto firefox and downloaded a whole bunch of things so that I could have cool themes. Then he downloaded something that would change the top bar to a different color. [URL] Theres a picture if your confused by my crappy detailing. But after he downloaded that, and something else to make my dock better. its dissapeared. In its place is this thing called terminal. I don't know what it is. Neither of us do. ): But now when i try to get the widgets up, my dock dissapears. When i exit out of terminal, my dock dissapears.

I have been trying since friday to download lion to save my mobileme. My hard drive was failing and i had to backup everything up but I didn't know it was failing til it failed last night. I got it replaced today and restored my drive. Now it's after hours at apple and i finally got to where i was trying to redownload Lion and it won't LET ME!!!!
it says I have to log in from the account i downloaded it from and won't let me download. I also can't get my system prefs to show i have my mobileme name. How am i going to get my account moved? I was told by apple care i had a few days grace period and i can't get this thing moved and can't afford to lose my email addresses
i just want to download my lion thing -- and it shows in purchases but i can't get it to download now that i've restored from time machine on the replacement drive i had put in today after SMART errors caused my hard drive to fail earlier.

Earlier today, i was randomly browsing the internet when i happened to come across a site that automatically downloaded a file to my computer. I did not click on anything and, to my understanding, the site was completely normal. file downloaded: reimagerepairer.exe browser: google chrome is this a virus? seemed rather odd that it would download just by itself :| ... as soon as it downloaded, i went straight to the finder and trashed it.

So I have several concert videos that Ive downloaded. The files are labeled like this:
vts_01_01.vob , vts_01_02.vob, etc
On a windows machine these open up automatically, and some have menus that are functional, and all files play one after another.
On my mac, I had to download an app called VLC to play these files, but the thing is, once one file is done I have to manually open the next, and any menus that are present are non functional.
How can I get these videos to work on a mac the same way the do on a pc?

Wasn't sure what section to put this in but anyhow. I have been downloading .cab files for my Windows based phone and sometimes they download as .exe files as they should but many times they just download as a .php document and I cant do anything with it. Any guess as to why or how to make it download as a .exe file all the time?

I downloaded a zipped file from the internet (its stated on it's website that it works on Macintosh as well as windows and Linux) and when I tried unzipping it this message came up: Unable to Archive "thefilename" into documents. Error 1: operation not permitted
I'm on the Admin account so I don't see the issue...
So how can I unzip it? Its happened with a number of files

I just started learning how to use my new iMac. I have a question on the address book Apple downloaded my info from the old PC. When I go to gmail they are all there but if I go to apple mail on the dock, they are not all there. Is there I way I can merge them?

I was just looking up the songs of the noughties, and I came across what appeared to be a blog, judging on the description google gave me. However on later inspection it appeared to be a kitchen website. Anyway on the website there was what appeared to be a video, and I was asked to do something, although it was in a windows style 'window' rather that the OS X style. I was promoted to download something from [URL] and I clicked ok, as this window would not go away otherwise, however I cannot find it on my mac, and it says it was an ms-dos executable file, does that mean it will not work on my mac? I'm trying to dowload a lion upgrade and the lion icon drops down to the icon bar, and the download begins, but after 18 hours it is only 25% of the way through. I pause and resume every few hours in case the process is stuck, but nothing speeds this up. My wifi connection has been fast enough to download big installs like this before in a few hours, so I can't figure out what I need to be doing differently.

I spent two hours with a couple of the tech folks at the AT&T store yesterday, trying to get my new Nokia Lumia 900 to sync to my Macbook... but with no luck. No matter what we did, I kept getting a message that the server was not secure, and so the calendar and address book wouldn't sync. Other things probably as well, though these two were my primary concerns. And, yes, we had downloaded the Windows Phone 7 Connector. It didn't seem to matter. Any suggestions, other than taking the phone back and getting another iPhone for a couple hundred more than I paid for the Lumia?

I was just having a browse through my purchased Apps on the Mac App Store. As you can see I am running Lion 10.7.3, however Lion appears in my purchased items but gives me the option to "Download" instead of "Downloaded".
I know its months away but I am concerned about this possibly interfering with the Mountain Lion update.

I have several Numbers spreadsheets that can't be downloaded...to my Mac via iCloud.com, or to either of my iOS devices. Serval others can be downloaded. The documents cannot be downloaded in any format, Numbers, Excel, or PDF. I am using the latest versions of all software. Any ideas?

I am downloading something, but it says it is a Windows product. It's an article. Sometimes, after I download things & click on open, it opens up in Text Edit with all messed up characters.....is there a way around this, without having to install Bootcamp? I attached part of it maybe someone can understand what I'm asking easier with pic.
