MacBook :: Just Downloaded Safari 10.7 And Now MS Word Won't Run?
Feb 29, 2012I just downloaded Safari 10.7 and now MS Word won't run. So I've paid to 'upgrade' to a program that won't run programs I already have. Apple, is there some other explanation other than planned obsolescence?

Downloaded Safari 5.1.4 Update Into Lion / Won't Now Launch
Mar 13, 2012Safari 5.1.4 update downloaded into Lion 10.7.3 on a Mac mini earlier today. Won't launch. Creates a report saying it is 5.1.2."Reopen" just repeats a report (many sent from different accounts!)As far as I can see other apps still work including Adobe CS4 and Firefox.Cannot enter safe mode to try it there by using shift on reboot as suggested for Lion.Not sure what extensions I have for Safari but very few. Definitely Ghostery (wouldn't be without it).Have looked at "get info" and it is running (or, to be more precise, not running) in 64 bit mode. Tried 32 but that didn't work either so have restored to 64. I have run out of ideas, short of abandoning Safari and waiting for the next update.

OS X :: Font Options In Safari After Installing Some Downloaded Fonts?
Feb 23, 2009The other night I pulled some fonts that I downloaded a few years ago off of my external hard drive and installed them one by one into Font Book to the User profile. Right after I finished this, I noticed that now about 80% of the text on pages in Safari now appeared as the Yahoo font, instead of what they used to be (I visit about 10 different sites on a regular basis, so there's probably a variety of fonts that normally appear, but now most things appear as the Yahoo font). I don't have any style sheet selected in the Safari preferences, and the font preferences are untouched from what they are when Safari is installed. Not only are a lot of sites now hard to read because of the mess that the Yahoo font around size 10 is, but its just flat out annoying to read that crazy font.

Recently I found I cannot send emails from my hotmail account. Windows live says to upgrade my browser safari. Downloaded the safari new version. Then I found it is not compatible with my operating system OS X 10.5.5. What shall I do? I don' like the way they change software. There should be some solution. Can I buy new operating system? If it says Hardware is not compatible then money go into waste.

Sep 18, 2009I guess it's a change with Snow Leopard, but now when I download a .nzb file and try to open it I get the warning message that it's 'an unknown application downloaded from the Internet' (which, of course, it is not) and I have to manually open that. A .nzb file is not an app, but an executable file (launches NZB Drop, for me). The fact is I don't think I've ever had the message fire and not want to open it. I'd prefer to just disable it all together.

It happens in google and some webpages, but it's really annoying. I've been through all the preferences, defaults, fontbook (and deleted all the ones with major errors) and I deleted the font that it was using, until it chose another one, trying to fix it but with no luck

Apr 28, 2010About a month ago, a friend who had just purchased his first Mac emailed me and asked why his Dock DownLoad file disappeared. I had no idea why. He still hasn't been able to reestablish it.
Yesterday, I downloaded something and my Dock DownLoad file vanished. I have tried rebooting, using (useless) Help, Spotlight, Search, and several other things. NO JOY. NO DownLoad file.
1. Does anyone know where to find DownLoad or how to bring it back?
I have experienced several idiosyncrasies with Snow Leopard, but when I call Apple support, they are very nice, but haven't a clue as to why it's happening.
2. Another problem is that the Highlight gets anchored on something in Mail, Word, and some other Apps. When I click somewhere else, the whole area between the "anchor" and what I click on is lit up. Apple doesn't know what causes it. I have to go through multiple machinations to shake it loose. I don't know what it is that causes it or specifically how to "shake it loose". Neither does Apple.
3. When typing in Word or an editor, there are times when the type changes to UpperCase and won;t let go.
Another problem is that, at times, when I click on a file, it fills the screen. Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to find an answer. Nothing, to date.
Apple support can't tell me why the MacMail Inbox spinner disappeared or how to get it back.
There are times when I can't access the hidden Dock. After rebooting and trying other things, the Dock finally shows up but any additions that I have put on the Dock are no longer there.
When I put a DVD in the slot, for the first few seconds, it grinds but does smooth out.
I thought that SL was supposed to get rid of the "foibles". "What happened on the way to the Forum"?
Is anyone finding other SL idiosyncrasies? What are they?
If anyone can help with items 1., 2, and/or 3. I'd be grateful.
BTW, Apple says that items 2 and 3 MAY be caused by the wireless Magic Mouse and/or the wireless keyboard; however, when I use alternates, it still happens.

May 19, 2009My boyfriend and I were trying to spiff up my mac. (I have a mac mini btw) Anyway, we went onto firefox and downloaded a whole bunch of things so that I could have cool themes. Then he downloaded something that would change the top bar to a different color. [URL] Theres a picture if your confused by my crappy detailing. But after he downloaded that, and something else to make my dock better. its dissapeared. In its place is this thing called terminal. I don't know what it is. Neither of us do. ): But now when i try to get the widgets up, my dock dissapears. When i exit out of terminal, my dock dissapears.

Jul 3, 2012I have been trying since friday to download lion to save my mobileme. My hard drive was failing and i had to backup everything up but I didn't know it was failing til it failed last night. I got it replaced today and restored my drive. Now it's after hours at apple and i finally got to where i was trying to redownload Lion and it won't LET ME!!!!
it says I have to log in from the account i downloaded it from and won't let me download. I also can't get my system prefs to show i have my mobileme name. How am i going to get my account moved? I was told by apple care i had a few days grace period and i can't get this thing moved and can't afford to lose my email addresses
i just want to download my lion thing -- and it shows in purchases but i can't get it to download now that i've restored from time machine on the replacement drive i had put in today after SMART errors caused my hard drive to fail earlier.

I did not click on anything and, to my understanding, the site was completely normal. file downloaded: reimagerepairer.exe browser: google chrome is this a virus? seemed rather odd that it would download just by itself :| ... as soon as it downloaded, i went straight to the finder and trashed it.

vts_01_01.vob , vts_01_02.vob, etc
On a windows machine these open up automatically, and some have menus that are functional, and all files play one after another.
On my mac, I had to download an app called VLC to play these files, but the thing is, once one file is done I have to manually open the next, and any menus that are present are non functional.
How can I get these videos to work on a mac the same way the do on a pc?

Mar 20, 2012I'm trying to dowload a lion upgrade and the lion icon drops down to the icon bar, and the download begins, but after 18 hours it is only 25% of the way through. I pause and resume every few hours in case the process is stuck, but nothing speeds this up. My wifi connection has been fast enough to download big installs like this before in a few hours, so I can't figure out what I need to be doing differently.
