View 5 RepliesI have O/S 10.6.8
I have looked in the following for garageband loops, but see nothing.
1. Mac HD > Library > Audio > Apple Loops > Apple > Apple Loops for Garage Band,
2. Mac HD > Library > Application Support > GarageBand > Apple Loops > Apple Loops for GarageBand,
and
3. Username > Library > Audio > Apple Loops > User Loops. (cannot see any files here)
I am wanting to access these Apple loops to use in Final Cut Pro X. Do I need to 'unhide' these files

I just purchased garageband '11 on my MacBookPro, and as such it was available for me to download to my iMac. On my MacBookPro the additional loops installed perfectly by choosing a loop that wasn't installed and following the prompts. However this didn't work on the Mac.
When I clicked on a loop that wasn't present, it gave me the same prompt, but when the Software Update runs, it reports that all software is upto date. Then when you go back to choose a loop that's greyed out in Garageband, it says that the process to download has been initiated and to check the status in the software updater! Kind of a circular loop.

[URL] just an i-control and a mic? I just do simple vocal, bass, guitar stuff.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated my iTunes Library to iTunes Plus just now, but my Mac wasn't connected to my drive with my music on, so it downloaded it locally to another iTunes folder. When I copied the local folder across to my external drive to consolidate it, it's wound up overwriting the entire music folder with just the tracks it downloaded just now. Have I basically deleted all my music? The drive isn't covered by my Time Machine, which only backs up my Mac (due to space limitations).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently deleted all my Garageband files and emptied the trash by mistake, and I spent ALL YESTERDAY trying to find software to recover it. I spent $100 for Data Rescue 2, which I thought would work, but after talking to their customer service i was informed that DR2 is incapable of recovering "packaged files", hence Garageband. Please i need these files more than anything! Does anybody know of any other program that can recover my Garageband files??

My husband set up a partition on his MBP for Windows to run a program called TaskMaster for work. Well for some reason he was trying to use Time Machine last night and ended up deleting everything. He's at work, screwed and stressed out so I'm trying to be the helpful and supportive wife. Is there any way to recover Windows, the partition, and/or the TaskMaster stuff?

This might be a dumb question, but I will be selling my current 13" 2.4 GHz MacBook for the new 13" MBP. How can I transfer all of my pictures onto the new computer? Do I need an external hard drive or something, since I will be selling this computer?
Also, all of my iTunes stuff won't get deleted, will it?
Is it bad for Macs to leave them on a long time when you're not using it?
My nephew once told me he puts his PC off when he goes to school for example, because it would be better for his pc.
Does this count for...
- My PowerBook, running on cable (not battery, whatever)?
- My (to buy) 24'' iMac?
Reason is I sometimes want to leave my stuff on to upload or download stuff...
I have Garageband '09 and I am wondering why I can't get all of the loops in my project. In the picture below 50% of the categories are greyed out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if someone could PLEASE recommend a good FREE program that can convert my .wav file to a .mp3 file. I've downloaded 3 programs, and none have worked.
I also need to find a way to make an audio loop. However, Garageband won't take my .WAV file which means I still need to convert the file. Once its done converting it should take it though right?
I just got logic pro and i don't know much. So i recorded my guitar with logic and i found some drums in the library. Now the thing i want to know is how to speed down the tempo of a selected loop from the library. I have never found a clear answer for this question so if you know it please post it here.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just reinstalled OS X last night after upgrading my hard drive. All I've done is install all the software that was on my previous hard drive (didn't migrate or anything, fresh install of everything).
However, when ever I click on a Stack and click "Open in Finder", Apple Loops Utility loads instead of the stack folder!
How do I get rid of this? I've never experienced this before - and haven't installed any cracks or modified Finder yet.
Download gets 99%,then crashes and restarts download. I can not remove purchased movie, it just loops through this sequence.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a MacPro (Intel), and I had my Music folder on a second (non-boot) internal drive. That drive was getting full, so I bought yet another internal drive to put in one of the other bays, thinking to copy the folders to the new, larger-capacity drive. So I bought a 2 Tb drive and transferred all my MOVIES to the new drive, but then went back and deleted my MUSIC folder and emptied the trash. I knew immediately that I'd made a mistake.
I haven't written anything to that drive whatsoever from that moment on, so absolutely nothing should have been over-written. I have plenty of room on the new drive to which I can recover the deleted files. Unfortunately the folder/directory was very large, with over 20,000 files, mostly of podcasts/spoken word stuff, much of which is no longer available or would represent thousands of hours of download time, plus all my digitized folk music from long out-of-print LP records.
You'd think I'd be more responsible with >600 Gb of data! However, fortunately the drive is in good working order, it just requires a good recovery strategy. I know that services that do recovery charge a fortune, and because I haven't written anything to that drive and it still mounts without problems, I'm hoping I can do this myself with a good data recovery software package. Because I am talking about literally thousands of files, it is just too painful to think about editing all the metadata about each file (name, artist, album, etc.), and ideally I would like to recover the files and the file structure so podcasts are recovered as such, etc.
Is this at all possible?
If so, what are the relative merits of File Salvage vs. Data Rescue vs. Kernel for Macintosh (Nucleus Data Recovery) vs. VirtualLab Data Recovery vs. Stellar Phoenix? Is there something better than these--these are the only ones I found on a Web search. Are there any head-to-head reviews of which someone is aware?
I have both my gmail accounts set up with teh Mail app on my Macbook Pro , I went ahead and deletd a bunch of files, some that contain attachements and I emptied the trash, they appear to be gone, not really, if i restart the computer and start up Mail again and click the ALL MAIL box all the emails show up again!! and if i search a phrase or name via Spotlight all the emails show up again! I want the emails gone for good, I went into Mail Prefrerence and checked/unchecled all the necessary tabs, I also checked that I dont want messages saved offline, FYI when I check the email inbox via browser www.google.com / gmail teh emails arent there but they seem to be stored on my mac.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi finally did it and bought a new MBP...now is there an easy way to transfer my itunes, photos and movies to the new computer? The guy at the store sold me a firewire cable with an adapter so my old Mac (the "pixar" iMac from about 7 to 8 years ago) with its 400 firewire speed could then be connected to the MBP...but I am scared... I would like to keep everything on the old machine for now and just copy them over...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI ran into a huge problem today, it seems, and I'm hoping someone here can offer some help. Just for starters, I have a 13" MBP with Snow Leopard. So I tried logging onto my account just now, but accidentally clicked the guest one. In order to somehow undo that, I stupidly hit esc and then command+z repeatedly a few times. It brought me back to the login page, where I logged into my account, but when I did ALL OF MY STUFF was gone--files, pictures, music, folders, documents, etc.--and it was back to all the default settings. I looked through all the folders and everything is GONE. I tried restarting with no luck. I logged into the guest account too and that's also default (as per usual though). Does anyone have any idea how I managed this? Is there a way to fix it and get my stuff back? I'm freaking out because everything I ever needed is (was?) on my mac.
