Windows On Mac :: CPU Clock Keeps Changing Using Bootcamp?

Dec 18, 2010

I installed Everest on my MacBook Pro. It shows me, that the CPU clock is not 3066MHz (standard) but it changes very often. Sometimes I have 1500MHz, 1800MHz (...) or another CPU Multiplier. The same with the front side bus. Is this normal? I don't think, that the Core 2 Duo have TurboBoost or so?

OS X :: Changing Dock Background - Folder Icons And App Icons?

May 1, 2010

First off, I've searched the forums, but can't find an answer -- sorry if I missed something.Just got a new machine running 10.6.3 -- ugh, the dock and folders and so on look like clunky Windows junk :-(I miss my simple, elegant 10.4.11 dock ...I don't want to add novelty icons or that kind of thing, I just want a borderless dock that's semi-transparent or clear. And apparently all the apps out there to change the dock background don't work with Snow Leopard.I know CandyBar can help me with the folder icons and app icons, but as far as I can tell, not the actual dock background.

Windows On Mac :: Changing Permissions On External Hard Drive - Formatted For Windows

Sep 21, 2010

I had a Windows based PC a couple of years ago that had crashed. So recently i tried to put the files from my old hard drive from my Windows computer to my Mac. In order to keep track of what i have copied and what I haven't i thought it would be good to delete the stuff of my windows hard drive once it was copied. However, it doesn't let me delete anything of the Windows drive since it is set to read only. Is there a way around this? i've tried everything i can think of, but haven't found a soluti

Windows On Mac :: Can I Partition My Mac Drive After Installing Windows Through Bootcamp

Nov 10, 2009

perhaps I am doing something wrong? I wanted to install Windows XP on my iMac. I previously had partitioned my Mac drives. I backed everything on these drives to my external and blew the partitions away creating my one Mac drive again.

I then ran Bootcamp, created a partition and installed XP. Everything was fine. I then partitioned my main drive and got the warning message about Bootcamp maybe not working afterwards. So I finished partitioning my Mac drive as I wanted and now I don't have the option of booting into XP through Bootcamp. When I try it just shows the Mac drive as my only boot option. I see the XP Bootcamp drive in the System Preferences startup disk area, but I assume I did something to the partition once I partitioned my Mac drives

I know how to change icons but I'm having problem with the type of file. I've managed to change one using the rsrc file type but no other type will work for me such as icns, png or tiff. This is probably something easy. Do they have to be converted into rsrc or is it the OS version I'm running?

OS X :: Changing Icons For Removable Media Possible?

Jun 30, 2009

I have a few removable media devices such as cameras and would like to change the icon when it appears on the desktop as a drive. I figured out how to change the name so each time it comes up it has the unique name but the icon would be awesome. I tried "Get Info" but no help. I guess a follow up would be is there a place to get some slick looking icons also?

Windows On Mac :: Take Bootcamp / XP Drive - Pop It In New Machine?

Aug 20, 2007

I'd like to install BootCamp & Win XP Home OEM on a dedicated drive in my MP. Depending on what the next MP specs are I may or may not upgrade in the next 6 months, or whenever the next MP is released. Could I take the BootCamp/Win XP drive and pop it in the new machine or does it have to live and die in the originally installed machine? I know you can't do this w/ Vista, but not sure what XP will do?

OS X :: Cannot Change Name Of Windows Drive In BootCamp

Jul 10, 2009

I just installed windows 7 rc1 beta(32 bit) on my new june-2009 unibody 15'' mbp. Everything works great and I have parallels installed on my mac side so I can run both (and use bootcamp). Only problem is the windows drive shows up in osx as BootCamp so I tried changing the name from the windows side into something less obtrusive such as Windows 7. Problem is windows won't let me change the c drive title from BOOTCAMP to Windows 7. Everytime I type it in, it says "you require administrator privileges to confirm" so I click confirm but it just reverts back. Also, the audio levels in windows seem to be lower on max volume than in osx. How do I make them louder? Do I reinstall drivers?

Windows On Mac :: Possible To Partition BootCamp Drive?

Sep 25, 2009

I set up a boot camp Windows partition. Once in Windows, Partition Magic will not work in partitioning the boot camp drive. I tried from Disk Utility in OS X as well and that doesn't even let me partition the drive. Is it not possible to do? I am creating this to try to play a PC game and Fusion won't cut it. I would like to create normal partitions like I always do in Windows if possible.

OS X :: Changing Icons On Folder - Background Not Transparent

Oct 8, 2007

I am trying to change the background on some Aliases and folders I created on my desktop. I downloaded some icons in .ico and .png format online, and I am able to use the .png format. I open up the .png file, ctrl-c it, then goto the Alias or Folder I want to change the icon on. I do a "Get Info", then I click on the icon at the top and do a ctrl-v. This changes the icon, but it puts a White background behind the icon. See the screenshot below to see what I am talking about. Screenshot of resulting icon on desktop. OS X :: Changing Multiple Icons Automatically Between Files?

May 24, 2009

Is there an apple script or something that can change icons automatically between files? I have a small movie library, which I created icon files for (with a frame from the movie). I just have to "get info" on each movie individually, and copy the image icon over the movie's generic icon. I can't use poster frames in iTunes/Quicktime because they're not all quicktime compatible, and I didn't want to re-encode everything.

I'm just wondering if it is simple to write a script that will ask for an item (the image), copy it's Icon, then ask for a second item (the movie) and paste the icon to that. If it is possible, the process would go a little faster both now, and for any others I do in the future.
