May 30, 2009speaker static, is it 10.5.7?
All of the sudden, now I have bad audio output on the speaks and headphone jack!?!
Everything was fine until a few days ago, but I just updated?!?

Hardware :: Dual Band - Wifi Jacked Up And Backups Keep Dropping
Apr 28, 2009I upgraded my Time Capsule and two AEBS. BIG MISTAKE. Since upgrading, my wifi has been jacked up (Needing reset randomly) & wireless time machine backups keep dropping in error. I have the TC as the main and the AEBS are in bridge mode. I have heard of people downgrading their firmware with success, but the dual band software seems to have this problem across the board.

May 23, 2012I am Using IMac 10.5.8. And Suddenly I lost my Audio. I don't know what happened. When I start up, I can hear sound, but I cant hear anything on Youtube or Whatever stuffs on my computer (like Skype). I tried Command + Option + P +R and didn't worked.

Applications :: ITunes Doesn't Burn Audio CDs Suddenly?
Oct 12, 2010I have a MacBook Pro 2GHz Intel Core Duo, running OSX 10.6.4 and the latest iTunes. I used to burn audio CDs just fine and now it gives me error messages.
The first error was a "Medium write error." The second error said, "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc can't be burned; it might be incompatible with this disc drive. Please try a different brand of disc or try burning at a slower speed."
I've tried two discs: TDK and Mitsubishi. Both don't work. It starts initializing and then immediately jumps to finishing, then ejects the disc with that message. I updated to the most recent version of iTunes and I still get the same problem.

We successfully hooked it up last night, and the video worked. I was told in the store that this setup would not transfer audio, so I already knew there would not be sound coming from the TV, rather from the Macbook instead. My Q is: What's the easiest way to get audio to come from the TV? I'd rather not buy external speakers to plug in, if I can help it.

Please post if you have an audio pop or click type sound that is intermittent (every few minutes or couple hours) on your i5 or i7 machine while playing audio through external speakers.
If you have it, please describe your situation as it occurs so we can perhaps isolate it:
I.e. Plugged in / on battery, programs running, usb plugged in, etc.
Mine happens whether on battery or not, iTunes, games, movies, Locked in video card...

May 29, 2010I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.

I am trying to play a .avi video on my MAC that was originally in .rar compressed format. I opened it in VLC, and the audio wont play.. so i checked the info and saw that:

audio codec: mpga
I have perian downloaded.. it doesnt seem to be doing anyting. I dont know if i've missed something in my extracting process of the .rar file.
Mac Mini :: No Audio When Connecting To Sony TV With VGA And Red/White Audio Cable
Apr 28, 2012I have attached my Mac mini to my Sony TV (to use as a moniter) - there hasn't been any trouble with the picture but I cannot get any sound.
I am using a VGA (I know that doesn't send audio over) plugged into the 'PC In' port at the back of my tv, and I am using an audio cable with a normal headphone-type jack on one end (going into the headphone port on the back of my mac mini) and the red/white cable going into the HDMI-in red/white ports on the back of my tv. I can't figure out what is going on - I tried plugging the red/white cables into all the input ports on the back of my tv, just in case, but no luck.

Applications :: Won't Work With Audio / Audio Skimming In IMovie 09
Apr 1, 2009I'm using iMovie 09 with the very latest updates applied and I am having trouble with audio skimming in just one of my projects. The project is only 8 minutes long and is just a collage of pictures to music.
The audio skimming button is toggled to on but no green bars show in the equalizer when I skim over the video. The audio works fine when playing the project and in other windows around the project such as the event viewer. I have plenty of free hard drive space and the thumbnails slider is set to '5s'. ALL of my other projects skim no problem.
Now this is the strange part. If I click to enter the precision editor on any part of the video and then click done (even without altering anything) the skimming comes back. It thus disappears if place a new item in the timeline until I go back into the precision editor where it re enables itself.
OS X :: Audio Not Working On Macbook, Tried The Ol' Audio Jack In/out Fix To No Avail

- System Prefs>Sound>External Speakers>Volume Max>Not Muted
- No red light coming from the headphone jack
- Tried inserting and removing headphones, no sound in speakers or headphones
- Restarted computer while holding down ⌘ + OPT + P + R , no sound made
- A very very faint feedback, like when you plug an electric guitar in to an amp, can be heard when the first sound (the mac start up chime) is supposed to play on restart
- USB headphones work
Mac Mini :: Multiple Audio Outputs - HDMI & Audio Out?
Aug 4, 2010With the new Mac Mini models, you can have audio out via HDMI or the line out. I am thinking to hook the mini up to an LCD TV/monitor via HDMI (sound on the monitor) and also to my other TV/sound system via the mini DP and audio out.
I assume when the mini turns on it'll activate both displays (if they are turned on), and from what I understand you can have two displays running. I'd only want one at a time so I'd have the other display switched off. But can the mini output audio to either both, or whichever system I am using? I've read a lot of posts but can't find a definite answer. I only want audio (and video for that matter, but can turn off other screen) to one TV at a time, but do I have to go into the OS audio settings each time I want to swap between the two?
I'm also thinking of using Plex and keeping it open at all times, just sleeping the mini when not in use. Can the mini only output to one source, requiring manual switching to the other (i.e. going from HDMI to audio out)?

Jul 19, 2008The volume controls aren't working well. I'm using a M-Audio Firewire Audiophile external sound device. There seems to be a headphone level control on the left which sort of works (its continuous so you never know where you are in its range) and a "Level Controller" on the right which doesn't do anything to the sound yet it controls the sound bar in Sys Prefs/Sound. I downloaded the 10.4.11 driver from M-Audio.

Jul 27, 2007I have audio that is being sent to my MBP through an audio in line that I would like to monitor for audio quality. The only way I know how to listen in real time to the audio is by way of Audio Recorder, but it seems a little unnecessary to have a recording application open simply to listen to my media that is being sent in. Is there a feature already part of OS X that allows me to turn this on? I looked in system prefs, but couldn't find anything to enable this. I will resort to audio recorder if I have to, but would be very happy if this was already a feature.

Sep 14, 2010My audio/midi setup says "output not supported". As a result when I plug in my Ipod, or a CD player, into the mic jack (audio input) on my Mac Mini I can't get the audio to play out of the speakers or headphone jack. I can see that the mic is definitely picking up a signal. I have a mac mini (solo intel) 10.4 OSX. Audio output from ITunes or music movies clips in IPhoto works fine. I have checked the cables and connections. I have checked the "sound" location in System Preferences to make sure the "built in output" source is selected. The input volume display shows that the audio input is being registered. I have checked "system profiler" in the Utilities folder in Applications to make sure the "built in output" AKA headphone outlet is recognized.
I have the "Soundflower" App. installed but turned off.
Does anyone have an idea as to why the audio output from the internal sources like ITunes and IPhoto music clips work but the audio output from an external input source like my Ipod or CD player does not? WHY DOES THE AUDIO/MIDI SETUP SAY "OUTPUT NOT SUPPORTED"?
OS X :: Air Port In Mac Suddenly Very Slow - How To Fix It
Nov 2, 2010so for about 6 months I've been using my iMac's ethernet connection as an Air Port for both my iphone and roommates pc around the house. recently I was using my phone and the wifi all of a sudden was horrible, playing a quicktime video that took 2 seconds to begin before was literally impossible to play, and when switched to edge it was much faster.
I thought that something was acting up with my iphone and shrugged it off but my roommate soon complained the internet was being really slow on her pc. So I checked my Mac and it's internet connection was fine. The Air Port was on, I reset it, switched channels but same performance.
MacBook Pro :: Suddenly Running Very Hot
Nov 19, 2010explain why my MBP is running very hot under OS X. It started about 2 days ago, to the point where in just a few minutes the laptop is running very hot and fans going probably at 100% (but I didn't test this). I'm using windows under bootcamp now and that is fine, so I don't think it's the hardware. I have checked the ram use and thing seems normal - the highest being safari around 250mb with many tabs open. Would it be something using the CPU to make it heat up? Even with nothing open it heats up in a few minutes. This was before the most recent update, and after the recent update. It's a 13" 2010 MBP.

OS X :: Almost Half Of Applications Suddenly Gone
Jan 24, 2009So I have a late 2006 MacBook running OS X 10.5.6. Today I noticed that my iCal icon was translucent and there was the "?" on top of it. Confused I clicked on the applications folder in the dock and the grid showed all of the applications on my mac, however it was only about 35 applications. Normally I have the full grid plus 10 or so that are left to see in finder. Now I was worried so I went to the actual applications folder and there was a lot of empty space in between each app, the perfect amount of space for the apps that are now gone. So I clicked on iPhoto and iChat in the dock and both appeared with question mark... And oddly enough I had been using iChat but didn't realized that it disconnect from the internet, so I quit it and tried to restart which is when I got the question mark. I do have weekly backups of my computer on a Time Machine which makes me feel a bit safer, but I still would like to know what is causing this.

Mar 19, 2010This started about 2 days ago, there was no apparent signs of such a thing going to happen.
My MacBook suddenly shuts down in the middle of my work. Shut down as in a sudden shut down, as if the battery was removed. There is no shutdown process, the whole screen just goes black. I've realized that this happens more recently when watching youtube videos, playing flash games etc.
Example : Computer dies in 10 minutes when watching videos/playing games. Computer dies in a few hours or NEVER when just typing, surfing.
It doesn't seem to be a battery problem. I've removed the battery and had my Macbook run on the Charger before, and it still died on me...

Aug 29, 2009I start having a problem with my MacbookPro April 2008 since update of Leopard to version 10.5.6. Now it suddenly goes to sleep, and it happens very regularly. Maybe 2-3 times within 2 hours. It happens with AC attached and during running on battery. So after it goes to sleep. it can be Woken up after 5-8 seconds later by pressing any button. And it really pain in one place to have this problem while loving Mac so much. If there is any solution, may be to do downgrade to 10.5.5, because as far as I remember it wasn't doing such problem before.
