Feb 4, 2010I've just started to use ARD and have it installed on my Admin computer running 10.6.2. I'm aiming to control macs on different OS'. I seem to be able to work ok with machines running tiger but leopard and panther aren't working correctly.
I'm not sure if its because I need to create a new account on the machines to use in conjunction with ARD, I've seen this done before in apple tutorial videos. Does anyone know if this is the best way to implement the system or can I check the ARD box in the sharing preference of my machines?
MacBook :: Difference Between Regular Ram And "apple Ram" From 3rd Parties?

It seems that most people who bought OCZ ram have had no issues what so ever. I am located in Canada so a store like CanadaComputers is great for me because I can go pick it up instead of having it delivered and pay shipping costs (as opposed to Newegg.ca). On their website, they have two modules with similar specs expect one is found in the Apple ram section and the other is in the regular ram.

When comparing the specs, the only difference I can see is that the CL on the Apple ram is 7-7-7-20. The CL on the regular ram is CL 8-8-8-27.
The price difference between the two is $57! OCZ's website confirms that one is made specifically for Apple Notebooks and the other is just regular.
Can anyone explain what CL is and whether it is something that needs to be taken into consideration.

1) Is the heat issue resolved?
2) I don't know anything about mac speeds - is a MBA that much slower than a MB that I would notice if doing web surfing/ word processing/ etc.?
MacBook Air :: Apple Tech Making The Screeching Noise?
Mar 19, 2008I called Apple tech support about the screeching noise I started hearing more than once out of my Air. This was posted by someone else and there is a youtube video floating around also. I am going to take it to the Apple store to have them look at it, but I also asked the rep about operating temp range.
He said that spikes up to 90 degrees are normal, but if it startes to climb or stay in the 90-100 range, then someone should take a look at it.
Not sure how reliable this is, but thought I would mention it.

Now only 1 thing stops me from a complete move - iTunes. My @me.com is not a mobileme account. I never set a mobileme account up. Aug 30, 2010After only my safari didn't work anymore now i've got internet again because of firefox but now all the apple programs such as iphoto, ibooth, itunes and pages etc. stopped working! When i try to open them i get the message 'the program quit unexpectedly' (translated from dutch) I think this is because i installed an older software version over a new one, but if this is the case, how do i fix it?
I if go to the apple sign and click there on software update that program shuts down too!

MacBook Pro :: Making Making Cracking Sounds While Opening
Sep 27, 2009Since about the 3rd day after I got my macbook pro the computer has been making cracking sounds when I open it. When it first started it just simply made one clicking sound when the hinge is halfway open. Now however, When it is open it makes cracking sounds that don't stop ( open 15 cracking sounds per open). Is this a serious issue that I need to address with my local (and very mean) genius or is this issue not going to continue to get progressively worse. If this does continue to get worse will the hinge crack open? what is this worst that could happen?

Nov 20, 2008I just bought an iMac G5 off ebay and today I tried to use the Tiger install dvd because the previous owner had deleted software like textedit, etc.
Anyway, I put the disc in and clicked on Install Mac OS X, then clicking restart. once the iMac shuts down and begins to restart, as it is on the grey screen you can hear the disc being read, then as the background goes a different shade of grey and the Apple logo appears, a minute or so passes and then the iMac begins making a lot of noise. I went away for 10 minutes, came back and it was still doing the same thing.
So I'm basically looking for help because I really want to erase and reinstall everything.

Jul 12, 2006I have a Rev A 12 inch Powerbook - 867 mHz, 640 RAM, 40 GB hard drive. The machine's always been reliable and has performed great over the years. I bought it the last week of July, 2003.
Yesterday, the Pbook was shut down, and I press the on button so it would boot up. Almost immediately, the hard drive makes a loud, whirring noise. The computer advances to the gray screen with the Apple logo, but it doesn't get past that point and the noise continues, as if it's a car engine that just won't start...
I'm going to take it to my local Apple Store in the morning, and hopefully the data, including my nearly 22 GB of music, can be saved. Any thoughts on how to get my computer working again? By the way, it's the original hard drive installed. Hopefully this is enough info to generate some ideas, I'm stumped.

Aug 26, 2009I'd think with SL not supporting PPC, they'd continue to offer Leopard. But it's not in their online store at all. I guess the number of people using PPC that still aren't running Leopard but would eventually want to buy it is pretty low, so I'd understand them not selling it in-store. But you'd think it would at least be online.

I have tryed to re-install it from the disc but still not luck as it still stops at the apple logo. I have run several Hardware tests and its sais that there is no problems.

Feb 3, 2010I have this annoying problem with my iMac in the same room as my Apple TV and whenever I use my Apple TV Remote, it also turns on a movie on my iMac and that bugs me. Sure I could turn down the sound so I don't hear it but that does not solve the problem.
Is there a way to pair these remotes, I have one for my iMac and 1 for my ATV, and whenever I play something on my ATV it also starts a movie on my apple, usually a different movie. Can they be paired separately somehow so they are controlling only the unit they are suppose to be with?

May 1, 2012every 10 minutes in my log i see: com.apple.wikid.mailinglists mail:status = "list-updated" this is strange beause i DO NOT have mail activated, I do have webserver on but NO WIKIs are active. why would i still be getting this message? not sure if it's related but i've been experiencing random OS reboots after the memory page-file explodes and crashes. i'm getting ready to rebuild my system. don't know if it will fix my issues. been running this box fine for a year and only recently has it gotten whacky. maybe an update did it.

Dec 31, 2009My MBP has this issue every once in a while where I have to hold the power button and force shut down. Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.

Apr 8, 2012My macbook pro came installed with 4GB of RAM but this is slowly being eaten away. Brand new there was 2.77Gb available. Yesterday there was 2.4 and today there is 1.43Gb free. ( I know this as I am using free memory) Nothing is running but Finder and now this browser. Without the browser (Safari) I cannot seem to get more than 1.7Gb free. Something seemnd s to be gobbling up about 1Gb in the background this is not visible to Finder/Force quit
