I have a white macbook that does not turn on. The battery still shows a full charge, but pushing the power button does nothing. I have tried to unseat/reseat the battery. Could it be something simple? When you push the power button, no response at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a unibody macbook and today it was working fine, then tonight i opened it up it was frozen so after a minute of trying to get it to work with no sucess I held the power button until it turned off. when I tried turning on again the screen stayed white and would not turn on. So i turned it off and held option and the scary part is the osx partition is gone but my window partition is still there Im posting this from the window partition. How could it just randomly dissappear I didnt even use the windows part for the past month.
View 18 Replies View RelatedSo this morning I woke up and went to press the power button of my Macbook, but nothing happened. I noticed that there is no white IR light and the fan doesn't respond. I checked the battery, it was at full. The power cable was also green when i plugged it into the Macbook. However, it still wouldn't turn on.
Just a general comment, I use the Macbook as a printer server and to browse the internet, so nothing intensive is forced onto the Macbook.So then I tried resetting the SMU, didn't work. I tried turning it on with only battery , and then with only power source, both didn't work either.I have never spilled anything on this macbook, never dropped it, smashed it, or abused it in any way. However, it is 2 years old and I never bought Applecare (Usually, if something is defective, it will show within the first 30 days). I assume it's a logic board failure, and it's going to cost around 700 to fix (which i'd rather just get a new macbook).
I was wondering if anybody know of a reason why the logic board broke, or if there is any remedies that i haven't tried yet?Also, I'm thinking of pawning it off on ebay and then save up and wait for the Macbook Pro refresh. Does anyone have an estimate on how much I can get for a broken Macbook (screen is fine, 4gb of ram (i might replace it w/ 2gb instead) 250 gb HD (might replace with 80gb HD instead), 2.0 ghz c2d (prbly useless cuz the logic board is fried)

I have a G5 dual 1.8 power PC...Bought some ram put it in & booted up. Then a red light came on the logic board behind the power button. The machine wouldn't turn on....I called apple care & we rearranged the ram, now the red light is gone but my system still won't boot up. The white power light blinks every few seconds... the apple store told me sorry can't help because your machine is vintage. Even if my logic board is fried is there a place to buy one on the cheap?

But often the coloured spinning wheel starts up especially after trying to use iphoto it freezes and a couple of times the screen has then gone black. I have a problem with my 17'' MBP unibody:
1) Bluetooth is ON:
I can't turn it off. The checkbox is inactive.
But I can turn it off, if I choose "Share my internet connection for other units". (I don't know, if this is the right text in english, because my OSX is in german)
2) Now Bluetooth is OFF:
But I can't turn it on, because the checkbox "ON" is inactive.
It turns only on, if I choose "New Unit"(?). Then there is a new window, that says, that this is only possible if Bluetooth turns on. If I say OK, bluetooth turns ON.

What's the problem. Why is this f* checkbox for turning bluetooth on and off inactive?
This is not a hardware problem, because I can have stable bluetooth connections.
I did a smc and am pram reset. But it doesn't help.

Any ideas for solutions? I did google searches, etc., to no avail. I have a MP (not early 08), which I upgraded the graphics card to a 2600XT, and it's running Leopard.
So my 20" 2.4 Imac crashed on me twice tonight. A box popped up telling me to hold down the restart button for several seconds to restat. The second time I did this it just sits with a white screen and give three loud beeps over and over. Is there a fix for this? Is it my ram? I'm at a loss.

Had (used) iBook G4 several months now & thoroughly enjoy it, even tho' I live in the sticks where there's no hi-speed/wireless available; I connect to internet & power, which is fine.
This weekend I went to turn off my iBook & it wouldn't turn off. It's now permanently on, with opening info barely visible (like I need to click on F2 to brighten up, except nothing happens).
Currently using my "back up" computer, my iMac Grape, which is pretty much an antique by now.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhat would be the advantages of 4GB RAM, i understand the basics of what RAM allows you to do, run more programs, run parallel OS etc. But I would mainly be using a Mac for: iTunes, Pages, Keynote and Safari and a few other basics apps, nothing to strenuous like Video Editing.
So my question is, would i see any real advantages to my system by upgrading to 4GB RAM instead of the standard 2GB, I intend to keep this computer for 3+ years, so would RAM be a factor in maintaining the computers health and functioning?
I just got off the phone with AppleCare and they are going to replace the bottom and top casings of my white macbook which I purchased in Dec of 2006. The bottom white "casing" is being replaced cause of cracking marks around the back perimeter and they've admitted this is a known issue. They are then replacing the top white casing, you know with the see through "light me up" apple logo due to odd discoloration at certain spots on that casing. The discoloration is an issue Apple has gladly replaced already 2 times for me, oddly enough. but through browsing on the apple site and macrumors, It seems that the new white macbooks are made of plastic...and am therefore guessing the old ones aren't? If this is the case, will my white macbook come looking/feeling different?

I started it this morning and it booted nice and all keys were working (i think). The problem is that when i type in my password which i know is perfectly correct, it wont log me in. All of the keys are pressable and will leave a dot or * in the passwordbox, but it just wont let me in. The Enter-button leaves a dot aswell i dont think it should but anyways...Dont know what to do! Since i only see dots im not sure if some keys have swapped place or something but arrghhh i dont know what to do?
I dont have a Mac-disc and i have tried the Single User-option but when i try to type the commands there nothing shows up?

I have a Macbook Pro late 2010 model and it suddely gets a white screen and the only way to fix it is to restart it. After about an hour of working the white screen comes back. I re-installed snow lepord (not clean install) and that seemed to fix it for about a day but i just got another white screen , any suggestions into fixing this or finding out the cause would be great as the closest apple store is about an hour away and no that accessible. I dont have to be touching the computer for it to do it which makes me think its not the logic board.
