how do i know if my pc is infected by a backdoor virus? there was a window, which said that i won something. the only button was the "ok" button, to go on..there was no red X on the upper side left and i could not even close safari. so i said "ok" and then I couldnt use safari anymore, until i started the computer again(doing it usually didn´t workd, so i had to shut it down just holding the start button)....now i´m scared i could have a backdoor on my pc now. what can I do? or how do I know if my pc is infected or not?

I recently was asked to download an Adobe Acrobat reader update but before I was made aware that the current virus was contained in a similar request, I downloaded what I assumed to be a legit update.I currently do not use my mail program on my Mac so am unaware of any spam being distributed from the computer.

I went to a website and got a pop up from [URL] and a splash page asking to check for viruses.
Does that I mean I have something on my mac, virus, malware, spyware?
Ok, I ran 2 sessions with adobe connect tonight, 2 customers separate sessions, anyhoo, then using firefox I tried to log into myspace and a malware popup popped up something called trustsoldier, I had to force quit ff to get rid of the pop up. So did this come from my customers machines via adobe connect or myspace has been hacked? this malware is not ported for the mac, right?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy internet will be cut off in 48 hours unless I remove this virus. I got an e-mail saying I was infected with this flashback virus. I called Rogers to confirm that it wasn't a phishing e-mail and it is legitimate. The only thing they did was give me numbers to a paid technical support line, I'd prefer not to call and pay. I went online and found a tutorial for removing it using Terminal, which I tried and got the error messages which apparently means I'm not affected. How do I remove this virus before my internet gets cut off? I am operating a MAC OSX 10.5.8 software system on my macbook?

some of my Word documents are infected with a macro virus. I'm not sure how many are infected, although I know it's not all Word docs. I'm running Office 2004 for Mac Student and Teacher Edition. How can I fix this? I'd like to prevent other docs from also becoming infected. I have no anti-virus installed and I'm still running Tiger 10.4.11 (hoping Apple releases Snow Leopard soon so I can finally upgrade).

I've read there's a Mac virus that was sent as an Adobe Flash Player update. I downloaded it. Is there anything I should do?

I've used the tools to verify that I indeed do not have the flashback virus. But I've read it comes from updating flash player I believe, I could be wrong, that's why I'm here. I'm not the most tech savvy, relatively new to macs, how do I know if it's safe to update flash player? I've read numerous people saying if you do so you're screwed, just wanted to make sure before I risk screwing up my mbp.

I was doing a software update today and a box popped up which looked like it was from Apple saying I needed to update my Adobe Flash. I downloaded it. Afterwards, I started worrying about it and checked on the web and found out there is a virus going around posing as Adobe Flash. I am running Snow Leopard. How do I check to see if I have it and if so, what do I do?

Sophos found a PC virus in the attachment to a spam email. I trashed the email, and thought that I had gotten rid of the virus. Sophos tells me, however, that the attachment/virus still exists in the Time Machine back-up of my mail.
How do I remove a specific file (such as an email and attachment) in Time Machine?

is attached to word documents. a friend rid it from my husbands resume which he was trying to upload to monster. there doesn't seem to be a program to get rid of it on a mac. so everythng i open just gets infected on my 3 machines. other than taking it to a pc and running the program my friend had, is there a (program) that will allow me to get rid of it? i know it doesn't affect my machine but pcs will not take these docs. I don't work in word, just use it to open client documents and copy into quark.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEveryone seems to want to back up to a flash drive, but what about someone who is carrying around valuable files to work so he can work on them in various locations (home, lab, school computers etc) and wants to safeguard against possibly losing such a small object or some other file problem. I am missing something extremely obvious here? Time machine settings show my flash drive but does not allow me to include it in my back ups...seems strange.
