Sep 28, 2009I need to return company Macbook Air and I want to be sure all my private data are permanently deleted and unrecoverable. I know it is not enough to simply delete them, so please, can someone suggest a more secure way? Should I format my Air and if so, how can I do it?

Mar 7, 2010I've been a PC user for 20 years, but thinking of switching to an Imac. My main concern before plunging in is with regards to data protection - particularly if I have to send the Imac in for repair. On my PC, I can control what part I want to replace, and I never send a harddrive in for repair. I'm paranoid about data privacy.
But if I buy an Imac, removing the harddrive violates the warranty. And if my Imac refuses to bootup, I can't wipe the drive before sending in for repair. Will the apple repair center be willing to remove the harddrive and return it to me before starting repair?

Other sites (such as facebook) when i load them they already have been logged in.

So I have an external harddrive with data already on (it takes up only 40% of the harddrive). Now, I want to partition the harddrive and use the new partition for a Time Machine backup of my Mac.
Now, here's the question; would I be able to delete the Time Machine partition in the future and still leave the external harddrive's data (the original 40% of data I had in the first partition?

Apr 2, 2012just eagerly downloaded the update which supposedly fixed the problem with the "remove website data" from the Safari privacy pane, the one that doesn't work, right, well, it's just the same as it ever was, cookies popping up all over the place, even after deletion. Again, I do not wish to trawl my computer looking for plists or prefs to delete, I just want the "remove all website data" button to work. Any others still experiencing this or is it just me? Has anyone found an answer to this yet?Â

Apr 2, 2012I'm having a problem with autofill not completing passwords. Usernames / IDs are being completed on websites but associated passwordsa are not being autofilled. I have tried to delete them from Safari/Preferences/Autofill/Usernames and Passords but I cannot delete a single entry or even the entire list! I have even tried deleting the site info: UserID and password from Keychain Access and then re-entering them manually but this does not seem to rectify the problem. Every time I open a website with a log in required, the username / ID is autofilled, but the password is now not. (It all worked previously) When I input the password, a dropdown window asks if I wish to have it remembered and I say yes, but it is not. Â

Jun 29, 2012I had recently installed a new software from 10.5.4 to 10.6.8.... when i went to pick up my laptop, they show me that was installed, the girl that show me, she asked if I remember the login password, I sayd no, I have this machine from 4 years and with my old system I never had to use the login password and the keychain as well, so I forgot both of them.I can't change what i want on the system preferences because it's all loked I can't delete things and when I use safari it's asking me the keychain password every 2 minutes.
