View 3 RepliesWhen I try to download something from download.com or other websites, it just goes to a blank page and the download never happen, I open the download tab and saw it was blank.
this really frustrating, its the same on Safari and mozilla on my Mac.
When I attempt to download a .wmv file, it appears to download (as evidenced in download manager) but then stalls forever and never finishes the job. I can download other media files without problem. I have updated WMP. Im on G4 PB 10.4.3.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo a while ago i installed iGetter and jDownloader to handle some of my downloading needs. These have both been uninstalled a while ago and i seem to have the problem that if i navigate to a file in my browser it will not download, it just sits there and does nothing. This is really anoyying as i can't download any files anymore
I presume one of these applications has disabled this behaviour in os x so that it can hijack it and use the app to download files. Does anybody know how to revert this so that browsers can handle downloads properly?
I thought Image Capture worked with everything, but it is a disappointment to see it cannot read my AVCHD format from my camera.Nothing seems to work. Any ideas anyone before I run off to buy a card reader? I am on an old Mac Book Pro.

I've been having trouble downloading files from an ftp server (URL) on Finder and while it does fully download eventually, it takes a while and if I click the x to stop it, the download won't stop. Is this a known problem with Finder, is it a glitch, or is it my internet connection.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm at a university and I've had a MacBook Pro for about a year now. The OS is Mac OS X 10.5.8. The processor is 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. The Memory is 4 GB DDR2. When I'm at the University we use a secure wireless network. When I option click on the AirPort icon, I get the following readings:
0:26:cb:82:8d:80
Channel: 11
RSSI: -68
Transmit Rate: 130
Because it's a university-wide system, I have no idea what the router information is. When I asked our IT staff about it - a group of part-time college students - they just shrug and tell me everything is working. I can download movie files in an instant. Zip files, even the most basic ones, take about half an hour. This is true even when the movie and the zip file is on the same website. A movie file, six or eight times the size of the zip, downloads much faster. I've read through this forum and others. I followed this suggestion: I deleted my AirPort setting and reinstalled it under "wireless". This did not seem to change anything.
I can't download files through google documents, anyone else having this problem? The file is sent/shared with me through Google docs.
The response I get when I try to download is:Â
Sorry, we are unable to scan this file for viruses. This file exceeds the maximum size that we can scan. Download anyway. So eventhough I click download anyway it still will not download.

I'm trying to download The Social Network, but every time it gets to 10mb downloaded, it goes down to zero KB, and starts over and will loop once or twice until finally saying the file is corrupt and giving me an error 8008. I deleted the tmp file on my MacBook Pro, and that didn't solve it. I also tried on my Windows PC on an entirely different network and it did the exact same thing. Is this a server problem on the host's part?

My computer won't automatically download pdf files from the internet anymore. My instructors post lecture notes in pdf format on our online learning site and they won't download when I click on the link. Now I have to physically go in and save them to the computer in order to view them. This just started happening this morning.

I have a macbook pro 13 inch late 2011. Ever since I upgraded to Mavericks, all downloads generate an RTF file in the Desktop. If I'm not checking constantly and erasing these files, suddenly the desktop is full of useless RTF files.

I just got a new mac - it doesn't seem to be able to download spreadsheet files or pdf files?
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhenever I use nzbdrop to download large files, my late 2008 MBP fans go nuts (4500rpm or more). As soon as the donwload is finished, they ramp down again. I find this very strange, it's not that downloading is that taxing on the cpu is it (temp is around 80?C).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook. I changed nothing that I know of. Suddenly when I download files they say they're going to the Download folder but when I open the folder to retrieve (or clean out) old files, there's nothing visible. It appears the file is empty. I have no other option to choose from while downloading. They just automatically go to the folder. Yet the folder's empty.Â
What am I doing wrong? Where are the files? I do NOT have a Download folder in my deck. (Never have.)Â
How do I fix this? (I need to download files from work and many of them don't allow me to "Save" as.Â

I can't download any software of file at my Mac OSX, I used Safari, Firefox & opera and still can't download the file. Each time I try to download the file I got black screen in Safari and nothing happen afterward. I tried to download the same file from different Mac and the download start immediately. do anyone have a solution to this problem;
FYI, I have MBP 3.1 with snow leopard as operating system.
I was wondering how do you located the files that have been downloaded?
Where do installed applications go?
How do I locate and uninstall a softwares?
I have Logitech VX but scrolling is real slow and can't autoscroll when scroll button is pressed. How can I fix this?
Upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.6 then thru software updates on to 10.5.8 this weekend. All went well except for a glitch in Mail that I fixed by deleting p.list and editing outgoing Smtp server. My new problem is I went to download my bank statement which always in in PDF format and it downloaded fine, except the file extension is now a .jsp. Do I need to reset something inside preferences? I am mystified. The bank has made no changes to their format. Preview still opens PDF files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been working at my job for 6 months now and the entire time that i have been here, i have not been able to download any files that are on the larger side (10MB+). Every once in a while a large update from apple will go through correctly, but its very rare. .dmg files will not mount and .zip files wont expand.
Ive tried everything i can think of, no luck.
Normally what I do for updates and software is go home and download from there and bring everything back on a jump drive and it works just fine.
Im on a 2008 imac and really the only difference from work to home is the Panda GateDefender blocker here at work. Could that be what is stopping me from downloading anything large? No one here knows exactly what the deal is...ive tried downloading on a PPC G4 and windows XP (on an actual PC). None have been able to download what i need.
Im tired spending all night at home getting files and updates for work.
I have Microsoft office 08 and can make .docx files with Word, but when I download an attachment off the internet, it makes a .zip file with lots of random folders.
View 1 Replies View Related^^That's my problem, tried different browsers and different users (note: both were admins), nothing works.
As an example:
I got to -> [URL]
Then click on Download iArchiver, the browser screen goes white (not everything, just the 'display' side of it), and it keeps loading and loading with the [URL]
It also sometimes makes a difference if I 'Block pop-up windows' or not, if I don't, the already described happens, otherwise it simply goes back to the window where I clicked on 'download' (note: this has happened so far only while trying to download firefox and blocking pop-up windows)
Have not had any problems with pdf files till today.Click on a pdf link and nothing, just blank page. I can still view pdf files in my earlier documents and downloads.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm in medical school and I can watch videos of my lectures online when I am on campus ONLY (I suppose it only allows certain IPs on the site.) This proves to be very frustrating because I have to commute an hour to campus just to watch the videos. I was wondering if there was a way to just simply go to campus and download the videos. (FYI I'm not sure if this is helpful but I have I just got the brand new macbook, I have quicktime pro but I could only get the video (no audio). to get audio I had to download windows media player. I had flip4mac and that would only give me video only as well, no audio. I've been told that only WMP will work by multiple people. I have XP under bootcamp if that is at all helpful. But once again I would just like to simply download the videos so that I no longer have to come to campus to get them.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my 24" Aluminium iMac (with Snow Leopard)The problem is, when I try to download something, no matter what (an app from the Apple website's download section, a torrent, a song,...) nothing happens I tried it with another browser (FireFox) and it didn't work either...I'm a little afraid that I will have to re-install Snow Leopard and lose all of my files... (Time Machine isn't configured, because I don't have an empty external hard drive...)Downloading attachments (Word files for example) in Mail, however, works fine...So when i click the download icon (of any kind) it just loads for half a second and does nothing, instead of showing the downloadscreen and starting the download
View 4 Replies View RelatedI opened up the download folder stack on my dock, and I noticed 2 random .exe files that I didn't download. I opened the download folder in the finder and they weren't there. I could only see them when I open up the download folder stack in the dock. I tried clicking the one of the files but it said file not found. I ended up restarting my computer and they were gone after that. I don't have bootcamp or windows installed on this computer btw.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI keep running into applications that I can't run because the installer downloads as separate files.
It'll have a file with all sorts of pieces to the program but nothing that brings it together to run it. If there is it's only an autorun- I try the autorun(.inf) and it says there's no application specified to run it.
I have run across these types of applications more times than I can count. Every time I can't find how to make them work, and so I have to give up on them. These programs I download ARE made for Macs, so it's very frustrating- I don't understand. My husband said those types simply can't be run on a mac.
