Everytime I hit the shift key, a white, outlined arrow (with a drop shadow) shows up on the mid-upper right part of the desktop. If I hit shift twice, it stays there... if I hit capslock, nothing.
I looked in universal access, and nothing glared out... a google search didn't turn up anything (right away).can someone quickly clue me in as to what is causing this?
I have a mid-late 2008 MacBook connected to a Dell U2211H monitor using a Mini DisplayPort -> VGA connection.
When I use 1920x1080, I only get 60 Hz and the display is a fuzzy (text). Also, there are black bars. Why?
Will my issues be solved using a Mini DisplayPort -> DVI connection? Or should I exchange it for the 2209?
my late 09 mac mini is showing a 3rd display called vga display and when i mirror it only lets me have 1024*768 i was wondering how can i get rid of it i am thinking it came from an app for my ipod touch that lets u have a part of ur macs display on it but i cant get rid of it of the vga still even after i removed the app
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just updated my 2007 17" MacBook Pro to the latest 10.7.4 and it now detects no displays and shows a blank screen. I can log in fine using a remote screen connection and the machine seems to be functioning perfectly (other than having no display).
I did manage to boot once using a SafeBoot and that seemed to start fine, but subsequent attempts to boot result in a black screen. This happens on both mains and battery power.
Looking, via a remote screen, I see that there are no displays listed under the system info. and the onboard GPU present, but not the NVidia card. Either way, no display.
A moment ago the 3rd retina display of my MacBook (and only a month after replacement) the display showed dead pixels again.

Over the last week, my 7 year old Powerbook G4 began showing faint pixels in the background which is more obvious if you are scrolling over menus also when a menu is highlighted. Unfortunately this seems to be affecting DVD playback because it will show blinking green vertical lines inside Front Row. This image within OS X 10.5.8 will show what I mean: [URL]. Does this means the graphics card is failing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy mid-2014 15" Macbook Pro randomly "loses" its retina display at the top menu (becomes pixel-y), where the battery, sound, and wifi logos are (on the top right side of the screen). A restart fixes the issue, but I want to know if this is an issue that can be fixed?

I can't see other people's display pictures using MSN messenger on my MBP... I've enabled all the options for this, is it a known issue, and is there a fix for it? I've tried other messenger applications, and I don't really like them.
Before I get shot, I've searched and found nothing on this topic. If you feel like being the person who tells me to use search, feel free to do it yourself and tell me exactly what to search for to find my answer...
Within the past week something changed after running a Mac software update that resulted in only having 2 display resolution options. The display choices now are limited to 1900 X 1200 and 960 X 600. I think this happened after having a Mac software update. I don't know what the updates were other then they were suggested as part of the automatic software updates check.
Running OS X Lion version 10.7.4. Graphics = NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 128 MB. I have rebooted and checked for additional updates put still only seeing 2 choices. why all the other resolution options disappeared?

I have a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 24 inch iMac in may-june 2008. I bought it because I wanted to avoid the 20 inch display problems. Somehow I feel I ended up with the wrong side of the deal. Check the snapshot please:
The picture was taken using my iPhone so it's not exacty Cannon quality, but still, it describes my problem in 1000 words
What would you do in my place. Would you risk getting another one, maybe a crappier one? It is ludicrous that you take part in a russian lottery when buying a fairly expensive product like a Mac.
I have the white Macbook (non-unibody). As I was cleaning it a few minutes ago, I broke off the cover to the up arrow key. The key and white/clear hinge thing is still attached to the underside of the key. The key works fine when I press the rubber button but the top plastic key is off.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe LEFT and DOWN directional arrows on my Mother's MBP just stopped working. All other keys work fine. Does this generally mean I will need to replace the top case? Has anyone out there experienced keys not working, then working again? Could it possibly be the connection to the logic board? Or some dust in an undesired location?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo all of a sudden, my Macbook Pro's down arrow stopped working. This appears to be the only key that is broken. I might have spilled a splash of coffee in the area several weeks ago, but it only recently stopped working. I took the key off and wiped it with a q-tip and water, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I also used compressed air, also with no positive results.
I run:
Model Name:MacBook Pro
Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed:2.4 GHz
Memory:4 GB
I can move the arrow around but the mouse won't let me click anything.

The space bar, arrow down and back (delete) do not work. They do not respond when pressed.

I take pics for safety inspections and I can edit them in paint on my PC but I need a referral to a good app to do the same for my mac. The arrows I point to the safety issues and usually add a caption so when I take it back to the directors I can show a presentation of the exact safety issues that need fixing. Using photo proof and adding the arrows and caption make it much more professional. But there are so many apps out there I don't want to waste $29.99 for an app if it doesn't work or if y'all know of a better one.

I spilled some water on my laptop this morning but it wasn't a lot and seemingly nothing happened. Then several hours later all of the sudden my delete key and arrow keys are not working. I can only assume this has something to do with the spill. My MacBook Pro is over 2 years old and I'm pretty sure the warranty is long expired. I definitely can't afford a new one or expensive repairs. Is there anyway to change the function of my keys? In other words can I change say one of my shifts or command keys into a new delete key ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night a friend of mine spilt a very small amount of soda onto my macbook. I immediately wiped it off and powered down the computer. Today, when I turned the computer back on, everything works fine, however, a few of the keys are sticky (the space bar, arrow keys, shift button, and 2 others). Is there anyway to remove these keys to try to clean them? This is the current generation Macbook.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't backspace anymore. And just now, as I type this, I noticed if I press delete I -forward- delete, and I can still highlight text and delete it that way. How do I change the delete key to backspace? Also, my arrow keys used to move the cursor within text. now it just scrolls the page up and down.

You move the mouse over to the scroll bar, favorites bar, minimize, etc... and the mouse is stuck in the wrong icon, be it the text pointer, hand pointer, window resize pointer... when it should be the arrow. It is such an obvious bug and I can't believe Apple hasn't noticed this.

When I plug my Intel iMac into our old Sony Trinitron via the S-Video input no connection can be made. Is this a problem with leopard not recognizing my TV or possibly something else?
View 9 Replies View Relatedfor the last week or so my MBA has been showing a ~3 inch bar running vertically along the middle-left of the display. Until today, the area looked just like blurry pixels (some things like graphics would still appear, so I don't believe the problem is with the pixels themselves). Now the area has become a gray bar of pixels.

1. What does this mean? I have done some google'ing using the terms yellow arrow OS X 6 etc. But nothing has come up.
2. Should I be worried?
3. How do I get rid of it?
