can't find or open my camera?
Info:
MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
I want to eject my camera from my macbook pro but I can't find an icon on my dock, or in the computor section of my finder. I therefore don't know how to eject it since i can't drag it into the trash or select eject from the list of options since there is no icon that i can find of my camera on there! Does anyone know how i can safely eject it? I also keep on putting memory cards into my macbook pro and then taking them out without ejecting them - is that a bad idea? If so then I don't know how to eject them either since i can't find them on my computor either!
My ipod doesn't come up as an icon on my dock either, it just comes up in itunes - is there some way of causing icons to pop up on the dock?

I am running the right version of imovie and my computer sees the stick on my desktop. i can open the stick manually and see files but i cant do anything with them. once i tried to reformat the stick in the camera and it worked ONCE. i have never had a problem with my previous sony products but this is just stupid. any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get a Macbook's iSight working. The Macbook is running Leopard, currently. When I go to open Photo Booth, I get the camera icon with a slash through it - indicating the camera isn't connected/available. The same problem happens with other applications. I don't believe it is listed in System Profiler, though if it was listed as something other than "iSight" I could have missed it.
I tried a few applications that are supposed to kick start it, reset the P Ram, reset the SMC, etc to no avail.
I have a Mac Book Pro running OS X Lion. I cannot open .mpg video files created by my Panasonic Video camera. Neither iMovie nor Quicktime will open them. Final Cut Pro will not open them either.

When I try to open Photo Booth, I get the following message:
"Photo Booth cannot open because the camera is in use by another application."
There are no other applications running. I've restarted the computer, repaired permissions, reset the PRAM, and re-installed Photo Booth from the original disk. I also tried running Photo Booth from the Guest account. None of these actions have worked. I have an Intel iMac (20"), running OS 10.4.11 (Tiger).
Surely this is a pretty standard feature in laptops now, particularly with Apple's obsession with iPhoto etcDoes it come as an option? How do you get your pics off your camera? You have to connect a usb cable from the laptop to the camera?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI do a home photo editing business. One of a my clients sent me a disc that she zipped to compress because there were a lot of pictures on it. When I try to open it on my Mac Book Pro I keep getting an error message that it cannot find alias and what program do I want to use to open it. It also gives me an option to "fix alias" but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong? Why can't I open zip files on my Mac Book Pro? I should probably mention that the client also uses a Mac Book Pro and her pictures were in her iPhoto before she zipped them on a disc.Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just been up to my local electronics store to buy the new base 21.5" iMac. I noticed the display model had a dead pixel in the centre of the screen so I asked once I had paid for it if I could open it and check the iMac before leaving, the store said that was fine.I opened it up and it had 3 dead pixels! So they swapped it over for another and that had another 2! (It's either dead pixels, or dirt behind the glass, either is unaccepted in my eyes). So I just got a refund as they said they wouldn't open anymore.

Does anyone know of a decent web camera that can can fit/latch on the top of the MBP screen that I can use inplace of the default isight? The camera is really small and not so great in low light (the iPhone4's camera would be a better fit it seems).

The little green light of the iSight camera on my MacBook Pro 13" is always on. I can remove it by resetting the PRAM, but it always comes back. I have not found what app is triggering this so far. I am using Mac OS Lion 10.7.3.Â

Any time I open an application like Skype, Facetime, or Photobooth, it tells me my built-in camera is not connected.I've had this Macbook Pro since about October of 2011, and this problem didn't start until last month. Before that, it worked perfectly fine. I've restarted my computer several times with no luck, as well as restarted the applications themselves. I don't know what else to do! I don't want to pay to get it fixed if it's something I can easily fix myself. Should I try resetting my SMC?
