View 1 Repliesi like to buy lion at the appstore but it dosent work
View 1 RepliesHave just upgraded my macbook to Lion. I logged into the app store, bought, downloaded and installed Lion no problem.
After upgrade I returned to the app store to download ibooks author. I can find ibooks author but when I try and install the app I have to sign in and I get a "connection failed" error message.
The same happens in iTunes when I try and view my account - "The network connection failed"Â
I can access the internet with no problems - including secure sites. I can access software update with no problems.Â
I have made no changes to my network settings - could sign in and download apps before upgrade, unable to after upgrade.

My friend bought his Macbook pro summer 2009 so whatever operating system that it came with (10.5 lepord I believe) did not download the app store when it updated. Now he wants to put lion on his macbook pro. Is there a way to download it without the app store? If not, how can he get the app store?

Even though I purchased Lion last summer and it is running on my new Macbook Pro, when I try to re-install, the App Store says this version can't be installed on my computer. How many versions of Lion are there?

I have purchased Mountain Lion from the App Store. When I try to download i get a message stating that it cannot be downloaded. My Mac Book Air has the correct specifications needed but Apple won't let me download the software.

Several weeks ago I upgraded my mother's MacBook to Lion. I had also intended to buy lion for myself but my iMac's hard drive died.Since Lion was installed the MacBook's battery life has been very, very poor - even booting up can cost 5%. A lot of people gave been discussing this. I have googled this issue and emailed Apple, but there seems to be no solution on the horizon. So I am going to reinstall Snow Leopard on the MacBook.  I had intended to contact Apple to see if a refund would be possible. However, just yesterday I replaced the hard drive in my iMac and it is working fine now. So I was wondering since I paid for the Lion OS, is okay for me to install it on my iMac rather than attempt to get a refund. Is that legal? And would it work? Would the fact that it was bought using my mother's AppleID (my money though ;)) mean that if I install it on my iMac it will make my computer my morher's computer - meaning my morher's login and details will overwrite mine?Â

I've got a 2011 mac mini server, it's currently got Windows server 2008 R2 installed on it.I'd like to run OSX Lion Server as a virtual machine. But I need a .iso (preferably) to be used to install the operating system.Because I didn't receive any installation discs with the mac, I dont have a copy up front. What's the easiest way for me to get an .iso of OSX Lion Server without needing to use the app store.(Currently it's not easy for me to be able to boot into OSX, because I have it set up as a remote machine and I only have windows installed).

I have a mac mini with 2GB ram, 50 GB free memory, and a core 2 duo. The app store says it won't download Lion "This version of Mac OS X 10.7 cannot be installed on this computer."

Updated with the latest patch yesterday. When I start the App Store app I have no apps showing and just receive the message "Cannot Connect to the App Store". I'm using an ethernet connection rather than wifi and have access to the internet (obviously). I eventually managed to sign out of my itunes account to see if logging back in would help, but when I click sign in nothing happens.Â

I live in Colombia. My Apple ID is from the United States. Yesterday my uncle who lives in Alaska bought for me 2 iTunes Gift Cards of 15 dollars. I exchanged the codes and now I have in my ID 30 dollars. But when I go to purchase OS Lion, I click in Download app and the Mac App Store ask me to change my billing data. I created my Apple ID many years ago without a Credit card. So I click Finish but the Download does not start. Â Â

For the past week or so (maybe since the "supplemental update" to OS X or the iOS 5.1 update) I've been unable to connect to the Mac App Store, and my Apple ID is not recognized there. I've tried signing in and out, and I've tried rebooting entirely. Each time, though, I have the same problems with the MAS.

When I search for OS X Lion in the app store as directed on Apple's site, all I get are some related books and a few random apps not the system software itself. When I click the "upgrade to Lion" buttons on Apple's site, I get a message saying Safari can't open the page because it doesn't recognize an address starting with "macappstore." I get a similar message when I use Firefox. The whole thing is very circular; the upgrade buttons lead nowhere, and the app store doesn't seem to sell Lion. Any ideas as to what's happening, or, more important, where I can buy Lion online?

I have recently purchased a new iMac with Lion. It will not open any of the PDF;s that I had stored and stransferred from my previous iMac which used Tiger becasuse those PDF's were opened with Adobe Reader, which Lion apparently doesn.'t support. Yet almost all aricles on the web that give you the option of saving them as PDF's require the use of Adobe Reader. Is there any way around this, or is there simply no way to read and save PDF's with Lion?

It appears that I'm unable to sign-in to the App Store. The place is well found under the apple sign and in the dashboard and both respond well to all demands except for the 'sign-in'. None of my other 5 Apple computers render this problem.  The actual computer is a MacPro4,1, Quad-Core Intel xeon, 16 Gb Memory and Boot ROM version MP41.0081.808. All software inclusive OS X 10.7.3 811D50d) is actual and up to date.Â

I run a bunch of labs at a university and we have been recently forced to move to mac OSX 10.7 as the newer imacs will not boot to older systems. On the surface this all seems fine except for the annoying App Store issues. Apart from the bulk education purchase problem (ie. there is none) - there is a really annoying Bug with some kind of background update check, this window pops up at random: (I finally identified the culprit as the App Store)Â Clicking 'Cancel' only causes the window to pop-up again a minute or several seconds later.Yes the Students and Academics could put in their personal proxy details, however this seems like a major flaw as there is no way to turn it off.Â

I have purchased and downloaded iMovie from the Mac App store. However now I'm getting an error everytime it launches: Â The QuickTime components necessary to view, edit, import, and export several kinds of movies are not installed. These components are included with the iMovie installer; re-install.Â
I'm happy to reinstall iMovie- but I got it from the app store. When I visit the iMovie page on the app store, it says "installed" and gives me NO options to re-install. Seems pretty short-sighted on Apple's part.

I am trying to purchase Lion from the App Store on my MacBook Pro. Every time I click on the "Buy App" button, I have to log-in 3 times (twice to verify billing info), and then the "waiting" wheel next to the forward and back buttons just keeps spinning. I have checked "Purchases" but it is not there. I have restarted my computer but that didn't help. I have made sure that my computer is compatible with Lion

I was just having a browse through my purchased Apps on the Mac App Store. As you can see I am running Lion 10.7.3, however Lion appears in my purchased items but gives me the option to "Download" instead of "Downloaded".Â
I know its months away but I am concerned about this possibly interfering with the Mountain Lion update. Â

So I downloaded and installed OS X Lion months back. I kept the App. Some how it got deleted. Everywhere I read it says it can be redownloaded. By holding down "Option" and opening the App store and holding down "Option" while in the App store to download the app. None of this works for me though.

I tend to keep my desktop clean, but current projects stay in a folder on the desktop for the duration of work. Lion won't leave the folders where they are, but instead it is creating dated folders in Documents> Desktop and leaving the files there. If I wanted to nest the files away I would have done so myself. The actual Desktop area is empty. It's kind of infuriating. Any clues as to how to make it stop doing this and leave my files where I put them?
