I just purchased my macbook pro 13inch (mid 2014) from a IT fair, 2 days ago and charged it ONCE to 100%. However, today when i checked my charge cycle, it reflects 3. Is this normal?

I bought a MacBook Pro 3 months ago, despite in the first charge I follow the instructions of the store. The problem is that my battery doesn´t complete the cycle of charge, if I disconnect my computer and the value of the battery decrease at 95% 96% 97% 98% or 99% and I plug again the charger to the MacBook Pro, the battery doesn´t charge at 100%. I followed all the instructions of synchronization but the battery remains the same.

I just got my battery replaced and after a full charge both istat and mac osx shows that there is only one cycle available. I remember that my previous battery used to have at least 60 cycles. Is 1 cycle normal for new batteries or?

I noticed that my battery cycle (according to istat) switches over at 15%. So as son as it switches over to the next cycle I plug in the adapter to make the battery run a cycle from 100%-0.(I know the cycle in 100%) But it still switches over at 15%, that means that the battery ran only 85% of its capacity. How can that be? Is it possible to reset (delete) battery cycle data?

Is it true that when we charged 100% battery and it says on AC power, does it LITERALLY do what it say? i mean the power of Macbook pro is not provided by battery but by magsafe instead. is it?last thing, leaving the Macbook connected to the working magsafe isn't add numbers up to cycle count right? and is it okay to charge the Macbook pro all the time and only using it when we could't find AC power outlet?

So first off, I absolutely love my MBA. Now that we have that out of the way. Since day 1 I've noticed that the cycle count on the battery seems to be climbing MUCH faster than it should.
- I've had the machine 51 days. I was out of the country without it for 9 days so really, I've had it for 42 days.
- According to iStat and System Profiler my battery's cycle count is 37
- According to System Profiler my battery's health is "Good"
- According to iStat my battery's health is at 98% (It started around 96%, has been as low as 94% but seems to have settled in at 97 or 98% for some time now)
- According to system profiler my maximum charge is 5006 mAh. (It's also gone up a bit since the machine was new).
I thought the definition of a cycle was the equivalent of 100% depletion of the battery -- whether that's one long unplugged stint that sucks it dry or 10 really short ones. A cycle is the same as using ~5000 mAh of battery power. I've been really good about keeping it plugged in while I work (the outlet is conveniently located). I've run the battery most the way down maybe 5 times. I do, however, run it down 10 or 20% almost every day as the machine travels with me in sleep mode or spends the night unplugged in sleep mode at my girlfriend's place).
I haven't done any careful testing but it seems though that if I run the battery down just 20% or 30% or so and then charge it all the way back up the cycle count increases by 1. Considering I've only used it for 42 days, and the cycle count is already at 37, I'm worried that it will hit 200 cycles by the time it's 8 or 10 months old. Isn't the point where battery performance starts to wane? Anyone else out there notice a rapidly climbing cycle count?
I had some issues with battery drain while sleeping awhile ago but that problem has been solved. However, ever since that incident I could not be paranoid about the battery life etc.I heard people saying that leaving the charger plugged in is simply fine as long as I do the regular calibration once or twice a month or so. Yet, Apple stated that they do not recommend the laptops to be plugged in. I will be going to a college this Sept and I really do want my laptop to last at least the whole 4 years.
Ever since I have contacted Apple customer service about this Battery issue I have left my Macbook charged up and plugged in while using and letting it sleep. One thing I have noticed is that the battery indicator says 99% and doesn't increase or decrease yet the green light is on. Is that normal? Since this is my first Mac ever and also first Laptop I would like some advice on how to treat the Battery( I know how to do Calibration and such). Is it better to do full cycle usage of Alum Macbook battery than leaving it plugged in all the time? (I unplug it when the Macbook is off).
I have loved and cherished my MacBook Air for two years now, but last night it went in to a reboot cycle for no apparent reason. Now every time it gets to the apple logo I get the rotating "thinking" ident under the apple logo and it restarts, continually. I did the hardware test (holding down "D".....that was fine.) I also reset the PRAM... so the troubleshooting keystrokes work.

I tried to talk to guys at Apple Store but the only thing they can do is to sell me a new battery. In fact, the battery was in recall before 2009 but I was not be able to send it back at that time. View 16 Replies View RelatedWhen I select "SLEEP" from the Apple menu, press the power button my cinema monitor, the power button on the tower or the system is set up to sleep after a certain period of time - the tower immediately powers off, not even a complete shutdown cycle occurs. No new software has been installed (previous to issue). I have already completed the following:
-Unplugged all USB devices (other than apple mouse/keyboard)
-Reset PRAM
-Reset PMU
-Swapped out RAM chips (and mem tested them - no issues)
-Repaired permissions
-Cleared cache's
-Repair Disk from Start-Up CD
-Rebuilt directory from Techtool Pro

I picked up an 802.11n Airport Express card for my Mac Pro last week. The installation went fine, but my Netgear router was only 802.11g. So I felt the need to get an Airport Express now that it?s been updated to ?n?. First I plugged the AE into my switch along with my networked printer, cable modem, and Tivo. My 1st gen MacBook showed me full bars and was very happy. My Mac Pro only showed 2 bars. They are side-by-side and about 20 feet from the AE. Strange. I plugged the AE into an extension cord and moved it closer to the Mac Pro. Still, after the AE completes its POST, I get full bars on the Mac Pro. As soon as I hop on the internet, it drops to 2 bars. It?s really weak and pages take forever to load. Sometimes not at all. The MacBook is still fine.
My wife being used to PC nightmares at work suggested that I reboot. ?Heresy?, I said. ?I shouldn?t have to do that. It should ?just work?.? From the Mac Pro, I turned Airport off and then on again. Full bars again. As soon as I hop on the internet, it drops. So what?s up? Much to my lament, I rebooted. Bingo! It works. Full bars, all the time. So I moved the AE back to where I initially had it. (About 5 feet away next to the cable modem and switch. One less extension cord to deal with.) The AE completed its POST, gave me a green LED and I went back to the Mac Pro. 2 bars again! ERRRR!.............

I consider myself fairly adept with computers and technology having been working with them since 1987. I was a full time web developer for 10 years prior to starting a magazine company in 2007. My experience (was) Microsoft (can I say that here?) and PC. I developed ASP websites using SQL databases and I was more or less a MS Partner having invested many years on the PC and the MS Software (lots of money too I should say.) I was "persuaded" to learn the Macintosh by a fellow publisher and friend who loaned me a computer and Adobe software for six months. I must say I reluctant, but realized quickly that I needed the tools and performance of the MAC.
I purchased a brand new MAC Pro in Nov 07 (2 x 2.66GHz Dual Core), this was the same month that Leopard came out and it was included with the new machine. It came with 2gb of ram which I upgrade (MAC certified ram) to 4bg about six months ago.)I immediately installed Adobe Creative Suite CS3 which I purchased as well as Office for MAC, Parallels so I could run Windows (sorry), and a logitech mouse and keyboard............................
I'm on the Mac indicated on my signature and am running Snow Leopard. The 4 finger swipes up and down are so buggy in this release. When I swipe up, I get the desktop to show, I swipe down to have the current thing come back up, but right as I let go of my 4 fingers, it jumps back to showing the desktop. I can't get out of this cycle unless I click on the lower right hand corner or something. Video of what happens

Right now the shortcut on my Danish MBP is CMD+< (the button right to the left shift button), but I would rather have it to be something like CMD+$ (button over the tap button).
Is there such an application built in mac os x or a downloadable? I already have coconutbattery, but that does not give me the uptime numbers. I know there is one in istat, but it keeps going on if the computer goes to sleep.

I dried out my macbook in an airtight container with some special salt for a few days, and luckily got rid of most of the water issues with my monitor. Unfortunately, my battery or logic board seems to have not been so lucky. My macbook is a one and a half year old 13" unibody, and now won't turn/stay powered on unless it's plugged in. For the first 15 minutes I've plugged in the magsafe charger, the battery is recognized. It says it's charging but stays at 0% (I then get the X over the battery icon). The weird thing is that my previously health battery now has a 0 mAh charge capacity and a 0 cycle count. Is there ANY possible solution to this, or has the damage already been done?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is my first mac; were this a PC I would have fixed everything with flying colors by now. I have a PowerBook G4, 800mhz, that had Panther on it. I bought Leopard and went to install it, using the LeopardAssist program to be able to install it. I'm installing, everything is dandy, then about 10% through I get, "Install Failed". So I reboot and it refuses to reboot, staying at the gray loading screen for all eternity. I rebooted again, this time from the disc. Since Panther seems to have disappeared from my computer, LeopardAssist was no longer available as a program, so while it booted up I went into Firmware and entered the command line manually. But when it starts up, despite having entered (properly, I believe as I saw the "ok" message after each line in Firmware) the hack to run Leopard, it says Unable to install.
To fix the initial failed install problem I ran Disk Utility, but it simply said on verifying permissions, "Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit." So I ran fsck and got the OK and did it again, then rebooted and got the message on disk utility telling me it was "unmountable." Basically I cannot boot from Panther as it were--Panther is not listed when I try to choose where to boot from. And it came with Panther installed, so I don't have that install disk. I think at this point I need to figure out how to get my computer to install Leopard as it was doing; or at least to Verify and Repair the disk on Disk Utility so that I can Archive and Install, which--as it appears in the other forum questions--is the way to go.
When I turn my computer on, a gray bar must be filled (takes about 20 mins) before it goes to the login page. Then, when I log in with the corrct password, the screen abruptly turns white like the startup white page for about 5-10 seconds (time varies each time) and then goes back to the login page where it will happen again and again. This all started when I banged my mouse and it stopped working and I held down the power button to turn off the computer and then hit it again to turn it on.

When using the trackpad on my MacBook Air running OS X Lion v 10.7.3, I can easily access Misison Control with a three-finger swipe up, and then use the three-finger swipe left or right to view each of my individual desktops (while in mission control). I hope to gain similar functionality using the wheel button and wheel of my Logitech mouse (when I am at work and am using a keyboard and mouse).
I have downloaded the Logitech Control Center for Macintosh® OS X (available at [URL]) and configured Mission Control to load when I click on my wheel button. I currently have the wheel itself configured for vertical scrolling (e.g., for navigating web pages in Safari).
how I can specify a different role for the mouse wheel when in Mission Control - namely rotating wheel up will do the equivalent of the three-finnger swipe left, and rotating wheel donw will do the equvialent of three-finger swipe right?

The jack on my magsafe charger ripped off a few years ago and before that happened, it must have shorted something inside my macbook as it would not charge any battery afterwards with any new charger. The battery in the upper right corner showed up with an x, the light on the charger will go from a bright green to a dim green right when I put it in and since then the hard drive broke as well, which is why I haven't made much of an attempt to fix it. My question is, What's wrong inside the computer (i.e. logic board, battery connector) and what any of your opinions are. If I can fix it, what piece will I need to buy and would it be worth or should I just sell my macbook?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt's still quite new. I got it in November. I gave it it's first full charge and it worked fine. The battery died once and since then it won't charge. I plug it in, the green light comes on, I can use the MacBook, but the battery won't charge. As soon as the charger is disconnected, the MacBook shuts off immediately.
What happened? I've tried multiple different outlets. Ones in my house, one in my friend's house, and right now I have it plugged in at Panera and it still isn't charging.
