My trouble is this:
i am currently connected to a wireless network.
i want to share this network with my ipod touch
is there a way using the computer's built-in internet sharing or a 3rd party app that i can have my ipod touch connect to my macbook, while my macbook is connected to a wireless network?
I've recently moved into student accommodation, which only has wired internet access in the rooms. This is fine for my MacBook, but causes problems for the iPad! So I've been attempting to share the MacBook's internet connection through AirPort using the "Internet Sharing" option in System Prefs->Sharing. This works great, but after a while it disconnects for no apparent reason.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI use an airport express to connect wirelessly to the internent, and have had no problems with it for the past two years. But I just moved to a new city and got Comcast cable internet. My iMac can connect to the internet wirelessly, but my iBook can not. The ibook can still access the airport and play music wirelessly, but just not internet. It also can't connect to the internet if I plug the ethernet chord directly in.
But the ibook can still connect wirelessly to every other wireless network, just not mine.
I wasn't sure if Comcast put some kind of firewall up to keep internet access to only one computer, or if I just needed to reprogram my airport. I've reset it numerous times along with the modem, but am just not sure where to go from here.
I have been using my airport card in my iMac to share internet wirelessly with my iBook. However, I am unable to share the internet wirelessly with a friend's windows laptop. Her computer sees the network but does not ask for a password and fails to connect.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor specific reasons, I needed to connect my Synology DS211 NAS to my iMac directly via its ethernet port. I discovered that if I share my wireless internet connection (coming from my cable modem/wireless router) from wireless to ethernet, then the NAS would get the IP stuff it needed to show up. did that, voila, NAS is acting like a glorified external hard drive. BUT, when I did that, I lost all internet connectivity on my iMac. Still have full wireless signal. preferences pane says I'm fully connected to my network with an IP address, but safari always fails to pull up any webpages, saying I'm not connected to the internet.As soon as turn off the ethernet PORT, it all starts working again. And to make it even crazier, I discovered that if I leave sharing my wireless internet via my ethernet port ON, but turn off the ethernet port (in pref pane), I can STILL access the NAS just like before. That makes no sense - I'm sharing my internet via a port I have turned off, but it works? Anyway, why would Iose my airport wireless internet connection when the ethernet port is on - configured manually?

So i've had my iPhone 2G for a few years now and recently the WiFi has stopped working. Im getting it replaced on the 9th of July so thats not the problem. The problem is I would like to use the internet from my MBP through my USB cable to my iPhone. Its on 3.0 and I added the ethernet port in Network Prefs and used sharing prefs to share that port.

I purchased a new MacBook Air 3 weeks ago and now I cannot get internet sharing to work.I set it up as usual on my MacBook Air, the grey arrow is displayed in the tool bar, my iphone5 connects to the wifi network- yet no data will come through on my iPhone and my iPhone says "not connected to the internet".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am sharing the wifi connection from my MBP to my desktop since I haven't run a wire or set up wireless yet. It works, but every minute or two the Limited or No Connectivity icon appears, and for a few seconds, the desktop is offline. After a few seconds, it works again. This has happened with the desktop running both XP and Linux, so I don't think it's an OS issue. The wifi connection on my MBP is rock solid, and it always works just fine whether or not the desktop can connect.

The ethernet port has a static ip of 10.0.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

Primary DNS 192.168.0.1 (My Router's IP)
Secondary DNS xx.x.xxx.xx ( a dns server assigned by my ISP)
When I run check the xbox live connection it comes up with

I've been trying to connect over internet sharing from my Macbook pro to my i-pad 2 and am having some issues I hope someone can adress. I go to Settings>Sharing from ethernet then to wifi. I name the network choose a channel then add a password from there I get this error message.

So I have the 2010 White Unibody 2.4Ghz Macbook and the airport works perfectly fine whether I am at home, the library, school, etc. The problem I am having with it is when I am at home and using the airport, and my iPhone is also connected to the same network, the wifi will work on my iPhone but will stop working on my Macbook. It still shows I am connected but it will not connect to any webpages. As soon as I turn off the Wifi on my iPhone and refresh the page on my Macbook, it will load. Is there anything I can do to fix this. By the way, My Toshiba laptop has no problem with using Wifi the same time my iPhone is connected to it, my Macbook is the only one having problems.

When I diagnose the problem it says the wireless settings on this computer do not match the requirements if this network. I found this website: [URL] and I know how to set the imac to internet share but that last step that I have to put the internet type as "shared" on my macbook (windows) I have no clue where to find it. View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since updating to OS X 10.7.3 I can't get my Internet Sharing to function for wifi. I enable this to use my iPod at home. The computer 'says' Internet Sharing is on but my iPod searches and doesn't find a signal. Plus, the four bars at the top right of the screan do not change to a solid color with the arrow pointing up like it used to when enabled and working.

I just updatet my 2010 MBP to the new retina model. For years, I have used my mobile phones (iPhone and lately several Android models) to connect to internet, which has always worked perfectly.Now, with latest OSX there is a problem. I get the connection, and it shows no signs of losing it, but still the browser claims I'm offline. Turning the WIFI off and on again will help, but only for few minutes until the same happens again, everytime.

I went to sharing and clicked share internet and plugged them into eachother via ethernet, but it didnt work...or i just did it wrong. Is there an easy way to do this?
One weird thing, I clicked on the wireless icon nd clicked create network. i created a network and enabled data sharing...i was able to access all the file on each computer respectively without plugging them into each other....how does this work? If they can share data without being plugged in why cant they share internet!?
Ok... So I set up my MacBook a day or two ago to share my Ethernet internet connection via WiFi for my iPhone. All and dandy. Cue about an hour ago. It just stopped working.
I can access the internet via my Ethernet connection when Internet Sharing is un-ticked. I then proceed to tick it and the Internet connection drops. So I un-tick again and internet is working again. My Airport creates and connects to my iPhone all ok. But, I cannot access the internet.
Also, when Internet Sharing is ticked, Little Snitch tells me that "natd" is trying to talk to 0.0.0.0 via Labrat (DIVERT port 2560).
I tried searching but wasn't able to find anything extremely helpful. But I want to share files to a PC over the web. I have a TC and mobile me as well and not sure if the PC can get to the shared disk. I know my mac can connect to server in finder. I've read things about hamachi and that seems like a viable option. Sharing iTunes would be nice as well. But I imagine my computer would have to be awake for it to work. Would it be best to setup an FTP client or SSH?

I used to have a DLink DI-614+ router and it just broke on me last week. Now I have the Belkin N+ Router model F5D8235-4.
Before, when I turned on internet sharing with the DLink router, everything went smooth and I could automatically connect via ethernet to the internet, but now when I attempt to connect it says that there is no internet access on the Win7 box. I assume this has something to do with the new router that I installed.
One thing to note is that My Ethernet in Network preferences says that it "has a self assigned IP and may not be able to connect." Is a self assigned IP the problem and is there a way to fix it by modifying the network preferences or is there something I have to do to my router to get this to work.
I've got an LED unibody MBP and for a month or 2. I've been internet sharing my connection from my HSDAP broadband dongle to my Xbox 360 through an ethernet cable. It took me AGES to get going! A while ago I upgraded to Snow Leopard and it broke it. I have no idea why, and i spent hours yesterday trying to get it to work again to no avail! [URL]. That is the guide I am using and for the most part its fine. Long story short, the DNS keeps failing. "Move onto DNS. Enter the IP address of your wireless router (in my case, "192.168.0.1") in both the primary and secondary IP address fields". Thats the part I am having problems with, as I don't use a wireless router, i dont know what to put in.
