MacBook Pro :: Shuts Down As Soon As Unplug The Power

I have tried SMC and PRAM resets, and the issue has not been resolved. My magsafe is lit up with a bright green led. Battery status is "Not Charging." When I unplug the magsafe, the system immediately shuts down. Battery is brand new with only 2 cycles. While I can use the laptop with power connected, this is an issue that needs to be corrected asap, as I use this computer for performances consistently and if the power cord gets removed, I'm not in a good place.

I just got my new Macbook Pro 15 (Mid 2010) laptop a few days ago, and i would just like to know if, when I charge my battery and it's fully charged, should I immediately unplug the power cord or can I leave it? What is the safest and best thing to do?
View 24 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook Pro 13" Mid-2009 has recently started to shutdown unexpectedly when it starts running on battery power, I don't know if its the battery or the motherboard (I hope it isn't).Â
I tried resetting everything, reinstalled the whole OS, repaired permissions (don't know what for), but I keep getting this. It started about a month ago when I tried to boot up from the battery as power source:
The first try went all the way through the apple showing up with the spinning symbol underneath it, then POOF. Then everytime I tried to boot up again it didn't even show the Apple logo, just 5 or 6 seconds after the chime, POOF AGAIN.
So I connected it to the power adapter and everything went OK, I started working on it, everything was fine until I disconnected it. I kept working on battery and 2 minutes later the computer died again, it sounded like when you keep pressing the power button to force-shutdown, like it's protecting itself from something and it's very frustrating not being able to use your LAPTOP as one.
Oh, one more thing, the battery icon says "Service Battery" and it shows only 1 hour of battery (on 100% charge) the 2 minutes I can work on it before it shuts down.

I have a 13-inch Macbook, Late 2008 model, using iOS Mavericks. While on battery power, the laptop will randomly just turn completely off, despite still having plenty of battery power left. I know it's not a calibration issue where the battery is dead but appears to have charge left, since I'm able to turn the computer back on again and continue using it.Â

I've had my macbook for about 15 months. i noticed a while ago it had trouble turning off completely when running only on the battery. then a few weeks ago it shut itself off and wouldn't start up again. the power cord indicator was orange, but nothing worked. ordered a new battery, that didn't help. tried a different power cord - nada. i took it in to an apple repair shop and they said something about the internal power connector (i'm not a techy) and took 2 weeks to repair. i've had it back 3 weeks now and the same thing has happened. only this time there is no indicator light on any of the power adapters. and my partially charged batteries do not work on their own either.
any ideas? i don't want to keep fixing the same thing and every few weeks it keeps breaking again. i mean, what's the point in having the computer then, right??
I got my macbook during November of 2009 but two weeks ago it started shutting down by itself once I touch the magsafe of the macbook or remove the magsafe. All it needs is a simple touch and it shuts down. When it does shut down, the light indicator doesn't come on anymore. I have to keep removing the magsafe, and plugging it back in like 20 times until it starts charging again. So now I just let it fully charge every time I use it since any sudden movement will cause it to shut down. I will be making an appointment next week at the apple store because I had no time to go these past 2 weeks. I never dropped it and take good care of it. I am just wondering what might be the cause of this? I hope they do not take weeks to fix the mac since I have a lot of homework to do

Starting today my Powermac has shut off suddenly a few times in ~15-20 minute intervals. When I have many applications open simultaneously the computer is especially prone to this.
I have never had this happen before in the 3+ years of using this Powermac, and the only differences I can see are that I've switched to a different ISP (I switched from earthlink DSL to Comcast cable), and I now have 4 computers wired in to my 4 port switch router. After turning on my computer I also noticed that my router requires a reset and the internet doesn't work until I do that.

I've got a strange issue with my PowerMac dual 1.8GhZ and I can't figure out where it's coming from.Last Saturday I experienced a Kernell Panic while using Safari and the Dictionary (MacOS 10.5.1).Since then, whenever I try to start my computer, it shuts itself down while the grey screen with the Apple logo is on screen. However, this isn't always the case:I can use my computer 'normally' if I press the option key at start-up and manually choose my startup disk.
I can boot from a Panther or Tiger installation disk, but not Leopard. If I try the hardware test the computer shuts itself down in the middle of the test.TechTool works and didn't find any issues with my computer. Nor did Disk Utility.I tried to erase both my internal hard-drives and do a clean install of Tiger, but the problem is still there (I have to press option at startup).I tried to reset the PRAM and Cuda/PMA. Doesn't resolve the issue. When I tick 'Restart automatically after power failure' in Energy Saver my Mac will indeed restart, meaning it thinks there was a power failure.Any idea what it might be? And why it only happens in certain situations?Do you think it's a hardware or a software issue?

When you push the power button it lights up for a second and immediately shuts off. I am thinking a power supply issue

I have Western Digital My Book Pro II 2TB hard drive connected through FireWire 800 or 400 cable. The problem is that it shuts itself off unexpectedly all the time. Sometimes right after I turn it on, sometimes after 30 minutes. After turning it back everything seems to be fine, no loss of data. Anyone else experienced the same problem and can suggest how to fix it?

My iBook G4 crashed on me one night, and the only way I could turn it on again was to unplug the power cord from my computer, turn it over, remove the battery, put the battery back in, plug the cord back into the computer, hold down the start button, and it would restart. Although, when it restarted, the fan would go on first, and then the computer would make the normal start sound. Some times the finder would be on the screen after I restarted it displaying a quick link icon of the hard drive. So after a few weeks, it did it again, then a few days, and then it got to the point where I had to keep my computer in the same position otherwise it might shut down.
Now, if the power cord is green everything is fine, but if I move my computer and bump the cord into the wrong place it turns from green to bright red, makes an evil buzzing sound, and in three seconds the computer shuts off and I have to restart by using the method above. If or when the power cord goes bright red I do have 3 seconds to pull out the cord before it shuts down. I then sleep the computer, put the cord back into the computer, and move the cord around until it is green again.
I took my computer to a mac genius, and when he looked at the crash report he said it was frequent, but not caused by the battery and couldn't tell me what was the exact problem. I bought a brand new power cord, but I still couldn't move the computer around to much or it would shut down.
1.) Has anyone ever heard of this happening? And if so, what causes it to be so touchy?
2.) What can I do to fix it myself?
3.) If I send it in, will they be able to fix it so that it is perfect again without having to spend more than the money assessed?
I would like to try to have it fixed. At this juncture, my only option is to send it in for $280 and hope they can fix the problem that no one seems to know what is the exact problem, or even where the problem stems from. I should add here that the battery is fully charged, and the report says it can hold about 1 hour of life, although it's more like 30 minutes, and then without warning to plug in or risk shutting down (like it used to give me) it will shut down.
My power mac g5 has suddenly started to shut itself down in the early stages of boot up. The apple logo appears and the spinning timer logo spins befor a complete shut down.Â
I have used my o/s disc to access the disk utility. Repair disc is not an option. Verify disc is an option but this process fails due to " invalid nodes" Â

I have the impression that my MBP still charges when the power lead is hooked into my macbook. Is that true? Do i have to unplug the power cord each time my macbook is charged? Is there any way that the battery life might be affected?
I hope there is some sort of a circuit involved, that stops charging the battery when the battery is full, rather than overcharging it..
Why does my Macbook Pro keep shutting off when I unplug it from the charger
Info:MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I started using my macbook pro with an external monitor in mirror mode but I can't seem to unplug the power when I'm in this state, it automatically goes to sleep. I want to be able to unplug my laptop when its fully charged since its recommended to do so to preserve the battery life...but it doesn't seem like I can when using it this way. Or is it really not that big of a deal to unplug your battery every time it's fully charged. Are Apply batteries doomed to poop out eventually no matter what? I suppose turning it off at the end of work day could recoup damage?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore anything, I had spilt some OJ on my mac (I'm clumsy ), and I took it to the store and they fixed it but they did say that the acid could possibly get farther into the components than they thought, in case that has to do with these incidents.
Anyways, I had noticed that my Mac had not been charging properly. It would charge about 1-6% and then stop. I would even go out and leave it charging and it still wouldn't charge. So I unplug it and it restarts every time, and THEN it starts charging 1% before I have to unplug it again, which causes it to restart again.
Should I replace anything? Take it to the store? Or should I just get a new Mac?
This may seem like a really simple question to someone who is familiar with Macs, but I am brand new. When I hibernated my old Vista laptop, I always unplugged the power adapter (it go too hot if I left it plugged in overnight). With the Macbook (Macbook Pro 13, mid-2009), should you leave the Magsafe Adapter plugged in, or is it OK to put the Macbook into sleep mode overnight, and leave the charger plugged in? I don't want to deplete the battery (that flashing LED makes me wonder what kind of battery draw there is in sleep) by putting my laptop into sleep mode for eight or so hours, and not have the charger plugged in.

I have a IMac G4 mod. Power mac4,2 operating system osx version 10.411 processor 800 MHz 768 MB SDRAM. Some times the whole screen goes gray with a black square-telling me to shut down and restart.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have found the past 4 weeks that my iMac will not respond to any mouse movement, keyboard, trackpad or pushing the power button every 5 days or so. I must unplug from the wall, replug into wall then push power button, then it boots up. I have had iMac for 9 months and has always just went to sleep and when I move mouse awakens. After I must unplug, it works correctly again for 5 to 6 days then must be unplugged again. Anyone know why this is happening as I do not believe any settings have been changed and I am the only user of this iMac.

I hope these are the right boards to put this in. I'll try to sum up my problems as best I can. So we have what seems to be an Airport Extreme (fairly certain, as it's very circular and white; it also says Airport Extreme on it now that I look at it). It's worked for a long time, and I've never had any serious problems besides having to unplug it and plug it back in again. Here are the things we use the wifi on:
iPod Touch (3G)
eMac (10.3.9)
Refurbished iBook (now with 10.5)
PlayStation 3
My brother has a new 4G iPod which doesn't want to work with the wifi. My friend however got the same iPod within the same stretch of time, and his iPod totally works at my house, but his old 3G didn't (try to keep that straight). But that's beside the point for now.Now I have been playing video games online on my PS3 for over a year now on this router, and have never had any big issues. Now, it refuses to hook up. When I enter the wifi in, the attempt to obtain the IP times out. When I go in and do it all manually, I get the DNS Error 80710102. I've tried restarting the router, I've tried restarting the PS3, I've tried going in manually and doing it, I've tried switching the Primary and Secondary DNS, I've tried switching the channels of the router (was on 10, now its on 1). I know of nothing that would bring about this change in how the router (or PS3) have been functioning, now I've hit a brick wall. (I should also note that the PS3 works on the wifi at other places)
