Is there any way to migrate only specific apps to a new MacBook? I got a new macbook but I don't want copies of old programs getting moved over. Plus there are some programs I just don't want to move.

Just got a MB-Air. I want to migrate some Apps from my back-ups which are on an external drive. My ext. drive has USB connectors and connected the USB into MB-Air USB.
How do I migrate my back-ups to a MB-Air? The disk doesn't show up only the Macintosch HD icon following the steps.
Google only seem to offer migration tools for windows or migration tools for Apple mail.
How can I migrate from outlook mac to google apps?
My middle son is off to college this week (in Japan) and will be taking with him a new MacBook Air. Naturally, he wants to also take his music and apps that he has purchased over the years, which now reside on my iMac (the family's media hub) along with music and apps for all the other members of the family.
But I can't find any way to sort the music and apps by account, which means he'll have to go through the entire iTunes libray one song and one app at a time. That'll take way too much time.
Is there a way to easily identify the music and apps associated with a single iTunes account from among many accounts?
I also face this same prospect when the youngest child goes off to college in 3 years, so if I can figure this out for the middle child, it will save considerable time when the youngest gets her own Mac.
Where can I find a list of apps that would use an app-specific password?

I have been trying to migrate my data from my PC to my new mac but it always seems to fail.At first, I would begin the migration assistant and then after a while the PC would just crash.But then I finally thought I managed to get it working. It said that process was complete (on both the PC and mac), but there was no data on my computer and no music in my iTunes.
PS I also have an Ethernet cable if that's of any use but I don't know how to use it.

Expecting my new MacBook Pro to arrive, looking for the easiest and fastest way to migrate from several PC's to my Mac. Does it make the most since to use a mac formated external disc and copy files from each pc to that then just connect that to my mac? Or should I use an NTFS formatted hard disc and copy from the pc and import to the mac and reformat the hard disc?
I was considering using the migration assistant but with several machines and location of my pcs, think this will take too much time. I do not need to migrate mail, or profiles. I am migrating iTunes library, quicken data, and movies and pictures, with some documents.

I purchased a macbook pro retina today and I am wondering wht the consequences are if I choose to skip the migrate transfer now so that I can check out the retina before I send files from my old macbook? It said it will take about 36 hours to do the transfer over wifi and it also doesnt detail what items are being transferred. There may be a lot of files I do not want on the retina pro that the migrate transfer might send over from my old pro. Also, is there a better way to copy over stuff besides the migrate transfer? I bought a new MacBook Pro, which has Lion. My old MacBook Pro has Snow Leopard. Last night I used migration assistant to move everything from my old computer to my new computer. My instincts told me not to do it, because my old computer is 6 yrs old and has so much stuff on it. I was thinking it might be better to just go on an as needed basis, however, there is so much I need, I decided to do it.
Problem one, CS5 will not work. Maybe I need to do a clean install?
Are there any other issues I should be aware of? I see I need to re-enter my license info for Word ...

I have a 15 inch 2010 MBP. When I got it, I migrated all my info from my previous MB. About 4-5 months into using it I started having issues w/ Kernel Panics. I did upgrade the HDD and RAM but the Kernel Panics happened before all of that. I took it to the Apple store and they ran some test on the hardware and software and said they couldn't find anything. Their advice was to just do a clean install. I wanted to avoid doing a clean install on all costs. Anyhow, I said what the who last night and backed up important files and did the clean install,
I have to say that the computer feels much more stable now. I was having a lot of little issues w/ Snow Leopard prior to the clean install. Most of that probably comes w/ me playing around w/ settings a bit too much. Also, I'll admit, I do torrent some software. In my opinion, thats what caused the kernel panics. Only time will tell if I continue to get kernel panics even after a clean install, but I think I'm good to go. So, do you guys prefer doing clean installs or just migrating your data? When Lion comes out, will you clean install or migrate to it?
today I bought a 7200rpm 500gb seagate hard drive. The installation went great. reinstall of osx went great. The computer is up and running but at osx 10.5.5 and I noticed my color profiles have not migrated over so I'm guessing other things haven't either... My AT&T card is also encountering a "fatal error" while trying to connect so I can't even get online to try to update. What went wrong? What should I do? I did a TM bck up right before the HD swap.

While doing this I will need to implant the wiped hard drive from my current Macbook (late 2007) into the target Macbook (mid 2009) in order to have enough hard disk space for my personal data. I will then conceivably need to install OS X Snow Leopard onto the disk, since my personal data is from Snow Leopard. While I have all of the personal data from my current Macbook (late 2007) backed up on time machine, I do not have an OS X Snow Leopard CD-ROM which I imagine to be required when trying to re-image a disk from a Snow Leopard time machine backup.
So, my questions are, first, will the target Mac (mid 2009) previously running mavericks accept a wiped hard drive that was previously running Snow Leopard; second, will the additional hardware of the target Mac (ram, graphics, CPU, etc.) be in the correct software condition (regarding drivers, boot data, cache, etc.) to accept personal data from Snow Leopard; and third, can I re-image the disk implanted in the target Macbook from a Time Machine backup?
