View 1 RepliesMy Macbook Pro has been having some problems with the built in webcam recently. It shuts itself off if I tilt the screen while using it (then the laptop tells me that there is no detected camera), and now, for the nth time, is not being recognized by my Macbook at all. I've done the special restart a few times in a row now (the one where you hold down the left Shift-Control-Option and the power button), and it still doesn't work. I went under System Information and the camera wasn't even detected there. What should I do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook pro. There is a built in camera. I can use to camera with Imovie, but it does not detect the camera with screenflow. I do not see the isight software on my machine. Do I simply need to buy the software? Seems like it should of been on the computer already (purchased used)

My built-in external mic doesn't record any audio when recording at all with the webcam. I've seen that this problem happens a lot in iMovie and Photo Booth, but my problem is a little unique, in that it doesn't record audio when recording with any program, not just Photo Booth and iMovie. I've tried QuickTime and even YouTube's webcam capture option, to no avail.Â
However, the most puzzling aspect of this is that I know for a fact that the built in external mic is functional, because I can make video calls from Skype without any problems.
I know this may sound very elementary but there was no documentation with my Mac when I bought it new (except a thin flimsy pamphlet with very basic stuff in it) and the support menu comes up with nothing at all when I search for webcam, webcam or isight. Where do I go to learn about how to use the built-in camera/webcam as a camera and also as a webcam?

and want to determine if I will be able to load mountain lion.
I'm not very tech-savvy, but I did change the owner's name to mine on the computer, changed the internet connection to my wireless, changed the password, and even renamed this computer.
Have I done enough to safeguard my privacy even if they may still have the serial number?
I've heard the green light must go on, but is there a way for them to look at me without the green light.
today i'm setting off on an ambitious undertaking, building a wireless 3g modem (on the at&t network of course) that would fit into the MacBook airport card slot and act in place of it, therein giving me 3g internet signal anywhere i go. Only problem is, i have no idea how to do this, i was hoping you guys might be able to help

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Black Macbook's (2.16GHz Core 2 Duo) in-built audio has suddenly stopped working. There is no 'Dong' at the startup. In the system profiler under the 'Audio (Built In)' tab it says that there is 'No Built-In Audio'. I can't change the volume or anything and in system prefs under sound is says no output devices are found. Has my soundcard fried? Is there anyway of replacing it fairly cheaply? My macbook is out of warenty unfortuantly! Is the only other option buying a cheap USB soundcard ? If so does anyone know of any slimline ones that would work?

I've heard completely different things, saying I don't need antivirus software and I do. I sometimes use websites with a risk of viruses to watch TV programmes and films online or to download music etc, so perhaps it is safer to download some software?
