Any time I try to remove an icon from the dock or an item from the login items and then logout/restart they come right back. It's like OS X is remembering my last login and then just duplicating it. I can't get it to keep it the settings I give it. Google and a quick search of the forums gave me nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy own account login items list in my systems preferences window is limited to one item- an istat menus helper app. But my mac hd/library/StartupItems folder contains two items that I don't recognize and don't think have much to do with starting up the computer. One is a Qmaster folder and another is named RDUSB00A3Startup. Each folder contains a few items, including a unix executable file and a plist file. My mac hd/system/library/StartupItems folder is empty. Can anyone please advise on whether the items in my mac hd/library/StartupItems folder are necessary and if deleting them could affect my computer? I don't use Qmaster and have no idea what the RDUSB00A3Startup folder is for.

I have a 2011 Macbook Pro and an older (5 year old) Western Digital external hard drive. I have always used this hard drive for both mac and windows. Recently, however, whenever I go to transfer a file from the mac to the WD hard drive, the little transfer window pops up and it appears to initiate the transfer. However, it never fully starts it. It appears to "get stuck" in that initiating stage, showing zero of 3.16 gb transferred and shows an unknown transfer time. This happens no matter how long I leave it open. Again, I have used this external hard drive with my macs for the past 5 years without any problems until now. I haven't moved or modified the WD hard drive

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I use Autodesk Maya, I find that there are so many menu items that they don't all display. I can hide some of the defaults e.g. battery, volume etc but I don't like hiding them. Is there anyway to get them all to display or any plugin that adds a second bar.

They have terrible file management skills and the short version is that they tend to use the desktop as a documens folder. I'm working on this but in the mean time there is a problem where when they save a file from e-mail or what have you it goes to the desktop. Which has items in the first 8 positions. The ninth position is behind the dock and rather then moving up to the next column it goes right behind the dock.

I have had no issue really before with the items that I purchased with the Macbook. 1 x Apple magic mouse and 1 x belkin wireless numberpad.
I have had to replace the batteries with the numberpad quite often as I can seem to get it to 'turn off' correctly.
Issue today: numberpad stopped working. I then tried the magic mouse (due to desk space I had just been using the trackpad), no response. I turn both items off, and replace the numberpads batteries (again). still nothing. I then went to open system preferences to see if the items were "connected" and said they were, but when I tried to access the item (keyboard) .. system froze and I got the funky beachball.
So is this a Bluetooth issue with the Mac? or are the items faulty? Mainly the numberpad?

I have MacBook Pro version 10.9.4. I can't add or delete items on my dock . Whenever I try to press the icon and try to drag it, it shows a option bar. I want to edit my dock, but I can't. I tried to reset my .plist, killall Dock, and set my dock options to default, but the dock still refuses to move.

Anyone have a clue why my MBP is doing this? somehow I my trashcan acquired a file that said backup.something which looked like a full backup of my harddrive, but I already have it backed up in time machine on my backup drive. It's been deleting from 300,000 down to 80,000 for about 13 hours. I tried to take the folder out but it just started copying everything to the desktop which was gonna take the same amount of time. Should I let it keep deleting?

Unplugged everything from my MBP (including an external display) while it was still asleep, tossed it in my back after it slept again, and headed out the door. When I got to class, all of my desktop items are gone. Macintosh HD, mounted dmg's, some files, and some other things are all gone off my desktop.
