I accidentally dragged the icon in the Finder Window for my Macintosh HD hard drive out of the window so it deleted. How can I get that back in Finder, or restore it so it returns?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI place document icons in my finder sidebar, and sometime later they change to folder icons. Does not matter which application they come from, it seems to happen to them all, but they are still linked to the correct documents.

I setup a Bootcamp Partition to run Windows. I set it to only 10gb to save all of my space on my Mac OS. I wanted to delete it completely because it was doing some funny things on the Windows side but I accidentally deleted the Mac OSX Partition!!!! Now when I start up my computer it only starts up on Windows with the 10gb partition. I want to restore my Mac OsX partition with all of my important importation on it!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI opened a new Finder window to find out that all the icons in the sidebar are gone, and going to finder --> preferences doesn't help. They're still ticked, but don't show up. I tried unticking them all, closing preferences, then opening preferences and ticking them again. No luck. I tried restarting the computer, no luck. I've heard that dragging the file com.apple.finder.plist onto the desktop and restarting helps, but I can't find it. It's not in Library/Preferences and a search doesn't show it. I can see a veriety of other com.apple.----- files but not the finder one.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI accidentally moved "My Pictures" folder from the My Favorites sidebar in Finder, and I can no longer find the folder. I've searched "all my files" for a My Pictures folder and nothing has come up, not even in the trash (that I haven't yet emptied). I am wondering if there is anyway of getting this folder back, as I had several pictures and folders organized within that My Pictures folder. All of my pictures are somewhere still on my computer but even they are hard to locate now without them being in any folder. Would be difficult to have to re-organize every single thing that was in that folder.

View 14 Replies View RelatedIve had great fun over the past few weeks messing with Leopard and my new macbook, altering aqua scrollbars, adding quicklook plugins and altering folders/icons etc.
For the most part, ive kept backups just in case. Original folder icons etc all backed up.
However I got a little too keen and didnt back up application icons (original ones) Althougth Im happy with what I have now, I cant find anywhere any original icons.
I install candybar on my snow leopard but now I cant restore my default icons. Look the screen

ITunes/firefox don't appear on candybar.
I recently changed the dock and most of the icons to custom ones and I would like to restore them all back to default. But since I no longer have the originals, I can't just copy paste each and everyone back. So how would I do this? I tried installing the combo updater hoping it would overwrite it all, but no go. I just found you can get info on an icon and then press delete or cmd+X, but it doesn't work on Mail. It erases the icon and gives me the generic "no icon" icon (white paper with writing utensils).

However, when I try to change an icon that I just pasted, I cannot. So, the new and nice road sign of a folder cannot be replaced from another icon, even if it is the default one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying out to test if I might want to use OSX since I was always using Windows XP, but apparently I did some stupid things while I was on OSX. I wanted to expand my OSX partition but I couldn't do the typical dragging to adjust the size, so I pressed on the + button on disk utility and my windows partition became 2 equal partitions. But that wasn't what I wanted so what I did was to click - and not sure that that was an actual confirmation for deletion, I clicked the button to Doom! So now, I'm left with a single Mac partition with the rest of HDD in free space condition. I didn't create a new partition or read or write to the sector. The question is, thus, if there is anyway to restore or undelete that partition that was so unfortunate?

How can I get it back? I used data rescue 2 but it didn't get the folders it was in or the file names and I have about 300 files on my desktop so I can't rename everything. I also have a iPhone and I and I want to know if everything on it will be deleted at the next sync (Contacts, songs, videos, Photos, Apps) if I can't get my files back because some of my song aren't backup so my iTunes won't be the same as the last time I sync my iPhone (My iPhone is Jailbroken.)

In foolishly thinking I could save all my documents by dragging the "Documents" portion of the Hard Drive menu on my eMac, the Documents box went "poof." How do I restore this back to the menu?
