I do not have the OS CD I need to erase all content, however I have done that manually by just dragging all of my old files to the trash and permanently deleting them.

View 9 Replies View RelatedUgh. So I was cleaning out my HD with 'WhatSize' and saw the 'private folder', which was about 4.6 GB. Thinking nothing of it and also suspecting that this might be the folder responsible for the my auto-depleting harddrive I trashed it. Upon stupidly emptying the trash I found that some files were emptied while most of them survived. Noticing that I wasn't able to open iTunes or even reinstall it, I restarted the computer.
Now, I can't get into Snow Leopard and have to use Windows (I have Bootcamp). I tried doing the "ditto /volumes..." command in single-user mode, but it says it couldn't find my username. I tried looking up the username with the 'launch ctl load' command, but it can't find the Directory Services file. Is there any way I can get Snow Lepoard back without losing any space? I have a lot of important media that I would really like to keep (photos, films, music, etc.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any way that by any chance I can recover files that I deleted permanently on my macbook, i mean, if I empty the trash, there's nothing I can do to recover files?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that I can't drag a file to the trash. When I try to delete a file by right-clicking and choose "move to trash" I get a message telling me that the item will be deleted permanently and that I cannot undo this action. In other words it is possible to delete a file permanently, but I would like to have the option to move them to the trash first. I have recently tried to partition the internal hard-drive using Boot Camp, however unsuccessfully. I don't know if the two are related. I have Macbook 13,3" early 2010 with the latest version of Snow Leopard, 10.6.4.

I have on tow differnt Mac' both running 10.8.6 and Office 2011.I get a message and I delete it from the inbox (POP accounts with my ISP, on my own domain), and next from the deleted items folder. so far so good, message (should be) gone forever. Now if I do a search (via the Mac find function) for the message it shows up as being in:/Users/e/ Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/Name of User/Data Records/Messages/ 0T/0B/0M/13K/x00_13558.olk14Message. The last item being the message.I can open it by double clicking and there it is in its full glory. If I do a search within Outlook it shows up but has no folder located to it, so I suppose it 'finds' it in the same folder where the Mac finds it.Using the find inside Outlook I can find them, delete them again and find them again, etc. Now, not only does this bloat the storage space needed (account now bloated to 1.5 Megabite), but it is also unpleasant (security) to know that they are still there. After all why otherwise delete anything?is this normal, and the second question is, how to set Outlook up that it removes these messages permanently? I had a thread about this in the MS Outlook forum but had no luck there. url...it be interesting to hear if any of you can recreate the problem, to exclude it being a unique problem on both my machines.
- Create new account in Outlook (same problem)
- Rebuild database
- Upgrade to latest Outlook version, followed by again

I wanted to delete it completely because it was doing some funny things on the Windows side but I accidentally deleted the Mac OSX Partition!!!! Now when I start up my computer it only starts up on Windows with the 10gb partition. I want to restore my Mac OsX partition with all of my important importation on it!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased an external drive to use between my MAC and a PC for my photos. In the process, I totally deleted the Time Machine backup drive that came with my macbook pro. I now have nothing backed up and obviously cannot restore should I have a problem with the notebook.Â
I need to restore the actual TM drive that came with the macbook and then use my external as a second drive. I have exhausted all resources trying to figure this out.

After reinstall of OS X 10.7.4, I restored an older copy from Time Machine backup. I want to completely replace the current "Macintosh HD" folder with the folder that TM put inside it. I created a separate user account, that did not exist before to do it. Do I need to create a root account? Is there an easy way to copy /Macintosh HD/Macintosh HD/ to /Macintosh HD/?

I recently decided to increase the volume of my bootcamp disk, which I had done in the past using a method which ultimately made the disk unrecognizable. This time around I used Winclone to create an image of my bootcamp disk. I was not sure exactly how Winclone worked and to be safe I decided to keep the Bootcamp disk I had, and I created a third partition of a larger volume to which I restored the bootcamp image. Everything worked fine obviously, and the image was restored correctly to the new larger volume. The dilemma is I had two bootcamp disks, so I erased the smaller volume because I no longer needed it. Currently I am trying to restore this empty space within the main disk to the Macintosh HD. Disk util looks like:
I know I can just create a backup of the macintosh HD, another image of the bootcamp disk, and format the disk and start over, but I am hoping there is an easier way to go about this; considering there has been a method engineered such that I can just drag that corner of the mac HD and voila I have instantly more storage after applying, it seems viable that there is something that can be done rather than formatting my disk, unless the necessity for that of course was overlooked. View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying out to test if I might want to use OSX since I was always using Windows XP, but apparently I did some stupid things while I was on OSX. I wanted to expand my OSX partition but I couldn't do the typical dragging to adjust the size, so I pressed on the + button on disk utility and my windows partition became 2 equal partitions. But that wasn't what I wanted so what I did was to click - and not sure that that was an actual confirmation for deletion, I clicked the button to Doom! So now, I'm left with a single Mac partition with the rest of HDD in free space condition. I didn't create a new partition or read or write to the sector. The question is, thus, if there is anyway to restore or undelete that partition that was so unfortunate?

How can I get it back? I used data rescue 2 but it didn't get the folders it was in or the file names and I have about 300 files on my desktop so I can't rename everything. I also have a iPhone and I and I want to know if everything on it will be deleted at the next sync (Contacts, songs, videos, Photos, Apps) if I can't get my files back because some of my song aren't backup so my iTunes won't be the same as the last time I sync my iPhone (My iPhone is Jailbroken.)
Last night in a desperate attempt to get some GBs back, I went crazy on Spring Cleaning and accidentally deleted all my .plist files... and considering I have tons of media editing software that I had arranged the preferences to ultimate perfection, I'm kinda upset.
How can i get them back?? I just redragged them from the trash to the Library/Preferences folder but they don't seem to be doing much there.
In foolishly thinking I could save all my documents by dragging the "Documents" portion of the Hard Drive menu on my eMac, the Documents box went "poof." How do I restore this back to the menu?
