Any time it is pressed, it shows the desktop (not even having to push cmd-shift or some other variation). I've restored keyboard shortcuts to defaults, repaired permissions, and restarted my computer several times. Nothing works. I'm not sure if this was something I did in Snow Leopard a while back that now can't disable in Lion?

When at home I use a 30" 2560x1600 display and as you can imagine, it has quite a bit of real estate for windows. So when I'm at home I'd prefer to not use Spaces since it doesn't give me any extra. However, at work I use a 24" 1920x1200 and when on the move I use my Macbook Pro's 1280x800 display and on those Spaces is highly beneficial. So is there any way to set up a keyboard shortcut to enable or disable Spaces so I don't have to go uncheck Enable Spaces in System Preferences?

I basically want to keep it asleep as much as possible to save on electricity, since I am not home about 10 hours of the day and asleep for the other 7, makes no sense in draining all the electricity. I was hoping someone could lead me to a small piece of software that allow this to happen.
How can I disable the (Command + "Left or Right Arrow") Keystroke in Safari that navigates Back and Forward. If I could also disable the (delete) key from navigating back, I would be happy.
I edit text with these keystrokes all the time and now that I've upgraded to Lion and Safari 5.1.5 I run into problems with my workflow.
I just want (delete) to delete text and (Command + Arrow Key) to select a whole line of text.
I used to just closed my Mac instead of pressing the shutdown button; I tried this time but I cannot shut it down anymore, also my keyboard cannot control the volume or turn on the keyboard-light. Also I remember there is like a back-up shortcut (or something like that don't know what is it exactly named) consisting of three keyboard button.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my friend was using his MacBook and went to do something else. He came back and the screen was black, he hit space and nothing, tried the trackpad and nothing. He restarted by holding the Power button, and it go to the log-in screen, but he can't type anything, or use the trackpad. He has tired restarting several times and no luck. He also tried an external Keyboard/Mouse and that didn't work.
He did plug in a Flash drive and the light turned on, so the USB ports are at least getting power, but nothing is working.
I'm thinking of buying a MacBook but I have one reservation. I'm moving from a Powerbook 12"...
What's the consensus on the MacBook keyboard in terms of ease & comfort of use? I write for a living so a good keyboard is pretty essential. I've always been mostly satisfied with my powerbook keyboard, it's pretty comfortable although I occasionally mash a neighbouring button with my big clumsy fingers. View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently, I have had this problem when my system logs off automatically. Usually in the middle of using VLC (most probably moving the window from one place to another), it just logs off. No error or anything else is shown. I could relogin and start my work normally.
Have restarted my computer after the second incident but the problem still persisted.
A friend of mine is using her macbook pro and there is a box that shows up on the desktop. Every time she clicks on something it will tell the file name, tell the application, or anything else she clicks on. Trying to disable this option but don't know how.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to have a bit of an issue on my MacBook Pro with pop-ups. I use Google Chrome and I thought this was a Chrome issue. I uninstalled the program and re-installed it, but when I used Safari to re-install, I had pop-ups come up on Safari, so it isn't a Chrome issue.
I am unsure if this is a Java plug-in issue or what, but I'm getting pop-ups everywhere and I do work quite a lot on my MacBook. I keep getting pop-ups such as MacKeeper, Purifier, EuroMillionaire, etc. I noticed I had MacKeeper and removed it. I will admit, I was working rapidly on Friday afternoon and I think I may have disabled Java or something. I am not sure how to go to the settings and adjust this.
How I can erase this. I've had this MacBook since late 2008 and haven't had this issue. I am on OS X 10.9.5 if that matters.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got BootCamp setup with a Windows 7, however whenever I restart or turn on my MBP it automatically boots into Mac, and if I want to boot into windows i would have to hold on to the option/alt key at the start in order for me to choose which drive to boot from. So my question is whether there is a way so that every time I turn on the MBP it would automatically show up the 2 OSes for me to choose from?

This was actually very useful in preventing inadvertent actions, with certain programs. At first, I really loved doing gestures on the trackpad.
Now, I find it a nightmare.
It is so easy to move my finger the wrong way and accidentally resize the page. I will be in the middle of surfing or even typing a message and if my finger is not completely curved, I will throw the trackpad into gesture mode and my screen goes into multiple resizes.
I found no way to turn the gestures off under PREFERENCES -> TRACKPAD.
I want to disable my login password. Basicley i want to push the power booton the laptop to come on and have access to my programs and apps without entering a password. Saftey is not a big issue i am the only one using the laptop. I still use a keychain password so not just anyone can install and change whatever settings or programs they want i like this just don't want to use a password to log in.
