View 1 RepliesI disable Messages in the preference but it keeps coming back on. I can't stand it. Messages pops up overtime someone texts me and now it's been a couple times that my iPhone will ring through my computer.Â
How Can I permanently turn it off?

In tiger you could easily disable safe sleep and remove the sleep image file but in Leopard this seems to have changed. Yes you can disable safe sleep & remove sleep image files but only temporarily. As soon as you restart or change energy settings back to default, leopard automatically reverts the safe sleep settings to default and starts creating an image file again
Is there no way to permanently disable/remove these?

As it is I have to launch it from the applications folder every time I restart the computer. This would be on my new MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard.

I have an issue that is affecting both my MBP and iMac. I believe it is due to a Blackberry mobile phone but not entirely sure.Â
In the bluetooth prefs, when i click the 'advanced' button, my computers are listing 2 extra serial ports, both default as active (on} and with no authentication.
I have tried deleting the bluetooth preferences file but it makes no difference. Every time i delete these serial ports, they reappear a short time later and also on every restart. It is as if the bluetooth defaults have been permanently modified Â
The reason i found these odd settings was because a bluetooth PAN had mysteriously appeared in my network settings. This happened on both my computers so maybe it is possible that i have inadvertently installed a trojan on both machines. Also, going back a few months, i had to call Apple to remove an iPhone that had been added under my Apple ID. I have never owned an iPhone so i wonder if this bluetooth issue is related to that.Â
I have tried to find any terminal commands that can alter the bluetooth defaults but not had any success ...

I do not have the OS CD I need to erase all content, however I have done that manually by just dragging all of my old files to the trash and permanently deleting them.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't understand why after 4 Apple Repair Depot visits my MB Pro is STILL killing several USB FLASH and external hard drives a week. It has consistently done this since the day I bought it. I have fried a large variety of FLASH Memory sizes, shapes, through all USB ports and even through attached hubs. Once my mac does this to a USB device, it is no longer recognizable by any Mac or PC ever again. Unrecognized, it doesn't even leave an opportunity for Disk Utility to reformat, rewrite, perform first aid, verify...nothing. Third-party formatters don't work either. It also doesn't seem to matter what brand, size, or port I use. For a certain period the devices would become very hot and sometime actually melt into puddles of liquid plastic and metal.
On the 4th depot dispatch for this issue they did replace the mother board USB ports and EVERYTHING ELSE but the display hard drive, and case. This stopped the heating and melting problem, but I'm still frying the devices and rendering them unrecognizable. Does anyone have ANY IDEA of what may be causing this? Is there anything I can do to stop or prevent it? Apple sure can't explain it much less fix it. This is a huge EXPENSIVE problem, and I can't seem to get past it, and I'm in an endless loop of sending in in for constant repairs. WHat can be done to stop or prevent this from happening?
I had problems with the existing installation (10.6.8) ==> only Safari. Therefor I mad the update to the current version today, the problem is different but Safari stays effected. A Reinstallation of Maverik is not solving the issue ==> the same error stays alive ...Â

Just bought a new Airport Time Capsule 3TB for backup purposes and to use as the main router in my home (model number A1470 the latest tall one). I was originally using an AirPort Extreme (model number 1408 approx 6" square and 1' tall) for my main router. Â
I got the TC setup and putting out good wifi signal, but would like to take my Extreme and extend it off the TC to boost signal in other parts of my house, but having some difficulty. I searched the forums and found setup instructions to do this, but I get a message saying, "unexpected error. Try again." Well, tried again and still no luck.Â

Now in XP I was able to remove certain files from the trash bin. I never actually emptied the entire trash bin, but once in a while would delete the oldest files from the trash bin and keep the new ones.
Is this possible in OS X? I was only able to empty the entire trash bin, but not certain parts of it.
