View 1 RepliesA popup blocker may be preventing the application from opening the page. If you have a popup blocker, try disabling it to open the window.

I'm currently using utorrent as my p2p application and was told by a friend that I should be using an IP blocker like PeerBlocker to block certain IP's that track what you are downloading.
He is actually a Windows user and after a quick google search I have found that PeerBlocker is not available to mac users. As a result I have downloaded Peer Guardian and have to say I'm totally confused as to how to use it and what "lists" I need to have setup.
I often find a random safari window showing some advert or something and have worked out that it's imdb.com - go there and browse and it craftily opens a window behind the active one.
Does that mean my pop-up blocker doesn't work?
good Flash blocker for Safari?I've done a few searches and can't seem to find anything. The best I could find was ClickToFlash, but no matter what I do it refuses to install.
View 12 Replies View RelatedFirefox has been my main browser b/c Safari 4 was slower for me and also no Noscript. Safari 5 though is noticable faster for me and I'd like to go back. Malicious javascript is still a concern, even if remote. I use clicktoflash, but that only blocks flash. Is there a plugin or extension that will block javascript on a page unless I allow it or whitelist it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had a few Safari extensions running now and have had no problems. But I went to check out the Safari Ad Blocker one and got it downloaded, but every time I double click to install it opens a new window and re-downloads its self again and doesn't install? Any one else seen this or know what the problem is?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to read news sites and my eye is distracted by things bouncing around in adverts. It's even worse when they're playing obnoxious sounds until you click the mute button in them. Therefore I just thought I'd let people know about this wonderful piece of software. I've seen it mentioned a few times here but even if this thread only helps a few people I think it'll be worth it:[URL]Not only does it hide these horrific insults to humanity (ok a bit strong perhaps), it actually prevents them loading, therefore your pages load quicker! And it's completely unobtrusive! If you want to watch flash file, simply click on in.

View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently, I have had this problem when my system logs off automatically. Usually in the middle of using VLC (most probably moving the window from one place to another), it just logs off. No error or anything else is shown. I could relogin and start my work normally.
Have restarted my computer after the second incident but the problem still persisted.
A friend of mine is using her macbook pro and there is a box that shows up on the desktop. Every time she clicks on something it will tell the file name, tell the application, or anything else she clicks on. Trying to disable this option but don't know how.

I seem to have a bit of an issue on my MacBook Pro with pop-ups. I use Google Chrome and I thought this was a Chrome issue. I uninstalled the program and re-installed it, but when I used Safari to re-install, I had pop-ups come up on Safari, so it isn't a Chrome issue.
I am unsure if this is a Java plug-in issue or what, but I'm getting pop-ups everywhere and I do work quite a lot on my MacBook. I keep getting pop-ups such as MacKeeper, Purifier, EuroMillionaire, etc. I noticed I had MacKeeper and removed it. I will admit, I was working rapidly on Friday afternoon and I think I may have disabled Java or something. I am not sure how to go to the settings and adjust this.
How I can erase this. I've had this MacBook since late 2008 and haven't had this issue. I am on OS X 10.9.5 if that matters.

If I drop the MBP say a few inches (onto something soft like my lap) whilst its running I can hear a crisp click coming from inside the laptop
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got BootCamp setup with a Windows 7, however whenever I restart or turn on my MBP it automatically boots into Mac, and if I want to boot into windows i would have to hold on to the option/alt key at the start in order for me to choose which drive to boot from. So my question is whether there is a way so that every time I turn on the MBP it would automatically show up the 2 OSes for me to choose from?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to disable the trackpad on a Macbook Pro? I ask because my previous Compaq laptop had a physical button to turn off the trackpad. This was actually very useful in preventing inadvertent actions, with certain programs. Maybe it's not that big of a deal for most people, but after having a computer that was able to do this, it just seems like a nice feature to have.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got my 17" Macbook Pro about two weeks ago.
At first, I really loved doing gestures on the trackpad.
Now, I find it a nightmare.
It is so easy to move my finger the wrong way and accidentally resize the page. I will be in the middle of surfing or even typing a message and if my finger is not completely curved, I will throw the trackpad into gesture mode and my screen goes into multiple resizes.
I found no way to turn the gestures off under PREFERENCES -> TRACKPAD.
I want to disable my login password. Basicley i want to push the power booton the laptop to come on and have access to my programs and apps without entering a password. Saftey is not a big issue i am the only one using the laptop. I still use a keychain password so not just anyone can install and change whatever settings or programs they want i like this just don't want to use a password to log in.
