I recently obtained a Mini which I've connected to my TV for watching movies/etc. I don't have a keyboard or mouse on the Mini.I ripped a disc the other night (via a remote connection) and realized that I don't know how to eject the disc from the Mini without a keyboard, mouse, or remote connection from my MBP. I suppose there is probably some way to script MTR and then execute a disktool afterwards but what if I'm just watching a disc and want to eject it?

Sometimes when I eject a CD or DVD from my Mac mini, the disk comes out flying, like the way cartoon toasters spit out bread. Not always, just sometimes.
Anything to worry about?
I have a mac mini and i tried getting boot camp up and running.
i was looking through our cd's and i found one that said windows xp installation and system restore disk. thinking this is what i needed, i put it in my mac when it said to insert the cd. then it restarted and went to a black screen (like pc's do when they start up) and it said,Gateway couldn't find an operating system to restore, press R to restore
I cant press anything else and when i press R, nothing happens.
if i unplug it or hold down the power button and turn it back on, it goes to the white apple screen (just before you see the apple logo) and then back to the black system restore screen. if i could get to the desktop i could eject the disk. but i cant.
disc is stuck in the mac mini - how can I eject it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLong story short, I wanted my Mini to dual boot Ubuntu 9.04 and OSX, and the guides I was finding said to use rEFIt. This worked fine until I allowed Ubuntu to install a bunch of updates, which must have done something to my partition table, as now I can no longer boot OSX or Ubuntu, and the CD I stuck in there won't eject either (so I can't get my OSX install disc to even load). Is there a rEFIt command from the shell I can run to eject the disc and try getting my OSX install disc in there?
Really stuck - When I cold boot, rEFIt gives me choices of OSX or Ubuntu, both just spin and die during boot. Tried holding space bar, c key, option key, left mouse, all on cold boot and upon selecting OSX option from rEFIt menu, no luck getting disc to eject. I followed the guide here: [URL] Did I do something wrong when I let Ubuntu 9.04 self-update? It REALLY seems to have screwed up my partition setup.
How do we manually eject a disc from our Mac Mini. We have tried ejecting it from
finder and command E. No luck. We can't seem to find a tiny little hole to manually eject.
Mac Mini CD will not eject from drive?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI went to install Windows XP via bootcamp as I no longer have a windows XP machine, but still need windows XP for a few things work related. The install failed, the CD I used was kinda scratched and it missed a few of the files during installation so I skipped them (usually not an issue as they were driver files and such). Well the installed failed and cannot complete. Now I'm stuck in a vicious loop where it wants to try and complete the install every time it boots. I'm using a non-apple keyboard, when I try to hold down what would be the equivalent of command+option+O+F it does nothing and either starts the windows installation all over or tries to continue and finish the current install. No matter what, no luck getting the windows disk to eject.

I inserted a blank disk earlier today. Automatically a hazard icon appeared where the eject icon should be. Now the disk wont come out and there is no obvious way to remove it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHere's what happened. I bumped my Mini fairly hard, and the audio immediately cut out. I was watching some streaming video at the time, and the video kept playing. I tried to restart. Beach ball. I turned the comp off and back on. Folder with question mark. After messing around with that for a bit, I tried putting my 10.6 DVD in and starting from that. It didn't work, but that doesn't matter since that problem fixed itself after a few restarts. The problem is that the DVD is now stuck in the drive and the Mini doesn't recognize the drive any more. The drive momentarily spins up at startup, but that's it. If I have to take it apart to get the disc out, that's fine. I have the tools and have done it before when I upgraded the RAM. I just want to avoid that if possible.

I was trying to burn a new cd and before I used the application I had inserted a blank disk which my computer didn't recognize. When I tried the application to burn the burn folder, I got a message to insert a blank disk. I tried using the Disk Utility, but when I try to select the volume Superdrive, the option is dimmed. How do I eject the blank disk from my Superdrive? I tried restarting but that did not eject it.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI rarely use my superdrive, so I thought it might be more practical to have the button eject my external hard drive(s). Is there a way to do this through OS X or a third party app?
I've been having problem with either Firefox or Safari and I download something and the dmg extracts and I'm left with the white casing shell where the app is housed and it won't eject. I can't eject it from finder but dumping it to the trash from finder took it off the sidebar. I can't get them off my desktop unless I restart my Mac.
I've noticed now that along with disk images not mounting for me anymore. My external drive images or DVD's won't eject either.
When I use right click with Mighty Mouse I don't even see an option anymore to eject that image. Is there any solution out there to fix this glitch? The work around I'm using is unmounting or ejecting images or disks from Disk Utility.
Why is this happening and how do I fix it? I'm using Leopard 10.5.2 and am on an intel iMac.
My brothers friend's iMac won't eject the disc. It locked up the computer and now it won't boot. They have tried holding down the mouse on start up but with no luck. Any thoughts?
View 24 Replies View Relatedi've had a Macbook for a couple years and I have some knowledge of OS X but this one has stumped me.My friend called me tonight and she told me on her new iMac that in the finder window, after clicking on Macintosh HD, the eject button was missing that should be next to the device. This apparently happened earlier today with a CD and happened when she called me with an External HDD.
She was however able to eject the stuff by either dragging it to the trash or doing "Open Apple" + E, key shortcut. I'm stumped on this because she was till able to eject the HDD or CD with the previous methods but the Finder, "eject" button for the devices was missing.
I am a new itunes user and can use your help. I'm sure it is a simple solution.finding a way to eject a cd when there is no eject symbol showing in the usual place.

I'm getting an "eject disc" error when I resume from "sleep" mode in Snow Leopard even though I have no DVD/CD in the drive. Is this a common problem with Snow Leopard? Yes, I have all the updates.

I have an A1229 late 2007 2.4 or 2.6 Core 2 Duo 4GB 150GB 17" (my 10.5.8 won't boot past the grey apple screen - it shuts down) and I am trying to install 10.6.3. After a dozen false starts where the disc was spit out after 10 minutes, uninstalled, It accepted about 20% of the install and then stopped, shutting down. I tried repairing the HD using DU but it told me to reformat the HD. My 10.6.3 disc is still is the machine and the installation start loads and I can't get the disc out?
