MacBook Pro :: Application Requires OS X Version 10.6.7 Or Higher - Slow Transition Graphics
Dec 5, 2014
I'm using Yosemite, yet many of my application like Pixelmator, Autodesk inventor, says " this application requires OS X version 10.6.7 or higher". Also when I go on Youtube or other sites, only black box appears, no video loads. While playing a video on my hard disk, I can hear only audio but no video is displayed. Transition effects are slow and can not hear or see and preview of audio or or video files. I tried AHT hardware check but it says no errors found.
I just installed the 10.7.3? My "old" MacBook is a late 2008, 2.4Mhz, 8GbRAM. After instaling the new Lion, my 2nd monitor stopped working, so, before rushing after hardware problems, I connected it to my new MB (Pro 15" early 2011, 2.2Mhz, 16GbRAM) and it worked normally. So, back to the old one, I tried many drivers, etcs... after some time, I noted that the external monitor flicked many times with the "normal" image and turned black... I changed the 2nd monitor's resolution and it worked stable, so, now I can only use 1280X1024 instead of 1680X1050...Â
My MacBook Pro will not open any app or program that requires Internet, even though I am connected to the web. I recently installed Norton AntiVirus and think it may have changed a setting that I couldn't find. I uninstalled Norton and it didn't help. Every time I open Safari, iTunes or any other program that tries to connect to the Internet, it crashes. Strangely enough, Skype still works, but nothing else. I have OSx 10.6.8.  I have tried erasing plists, and all the standard troubleshooting, ie resetting modem, restarting computer, reloading Safari from disk.Â
Last week i tried getting into imovie, and a message comes up. It says "imovie requires a graphics card that is compatible with quartz extreme. One or more of your graphics cards does not support quartz extreme." I have been on a couple forums where people have had the same problem, and there doesn't seem to be a solution.

Which version of Image Capture should be in Snow Leopard Mac OS-X 10.6.8 When my wife attempts to run Image Capture 3.0.3 on her system (her Imac cannot be upgraded to Lion unfortunately) is unable to run. The error message is: You cannot use this version of the application Image Capture with this version of Mac OS-X.Â
I have uninstalled my mail from Mac OS X and now with the OS DVD (10.5.2)had reloaded the software, but it is not working as it says You cannot use this version of the application Mail with this version of Mac OS X.I am using 10.5.8 - Some one please help as Apple support has not yet responded in the last 4 working days.Â

My Macbook is brand new! (Barely 4 months old) Just recently my laptop will flash a black screen. It starts from the bottom and quickly flashes up the screen higher and higher each flash! i have read on some other pages it is a bad inverter on the inner core of the Macbook. Other than that I do not know what to do!
Ok, Here is the scoop. I am trying to get Wifi to work on my macbook while on XP. When I put in the disk and it says "The package requires a newer version of Windows Installer. Would you like to update?" I say yes and it says "The requires resoruce update is missing." and if I click no it says "The operation is aborted." or something.
my early 2011 macbook pro graphics *****. Battlefield 3 lags on low. Exporting videos is slow aswell. Is there anyway to make it work better? For a laptop that I paid 2000 dollars for it should work a lot better than it is.
I have a 2009 2.53GHz MacBook Pro which I bought a couple months ago. It's been working great, but lately, I've been noticing a lot of strange issues with video playback/general graphics and UI. These includes:- Laggy video performance, frame skipping, generally 2x slow video -- on both iTunes and web video. It's not as smooth as it used to be, though admittedly not totally unbarable - VLC shows a black screen, doesn't show the video - Randomly pixelated icons in the dock (it's almost like the Mac picks a new one everyday to pixelate), dock animation not 100% smooth, although fairly good (not sure if it used to be this way)
My MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) is too slow after installing Yosemite version 10.10.1. All programs take for ever to load especially Safari and even chrome. I regret upgrading to yosemite, it was all fine with Maverick.

re-downloaded movies from purchased section, but when tring to play movie recieve error message "This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes." and the Artwork is missing?
I'm still using a Mac os x version 10.4.8 and my stickies application recently decided not to open anymore even though I was using it fine the other day. It jumps up once and then nothing happens, the problem with this is I wrote home work on it. However I'm past the point of thinking it will recover any information so where can I download stickies version 5.2 ?
I would like to not install a specific version/update of an iOS applications. The reasons for wanting to not install a specific version/update are varied, but include a "DO NOT INSTALL THIS VERSION" type warning from the developer. Within iTunes I always selectivly install updates and do not use the "Update All" primarly so I can evaluate which updates to install. Is there a way to mark an update as "I want to skip this version" so it will be visually different then other updates, or not present in the list of updates?
I am seeing very slow performance when using spaces and expose in 10.6. I am on a mac mini with the 9400m graphics chip. It worked perfectly in Leopard, and now it runs at what appears to be 1fps. Sometimes it doesn't even seem to animate, it just jerks into place, from starting point to the end. I realize one solution could be "do a fresh install" but that seems like quite the pain at the moment, and is extremely undesirable. The upgrade worked perfectly on my macbook pro with similar specs. Is there anything I can reset or reinstall that might refresh the graphics performance?
I tried to stream a movie on Netflix, the website opened just fine but the video won't play. I tried another website and no video. When I went to the dock to get to my utilities it looks like the graphics are skipping and freezing. It's lagging a good five seconds when I try to open the applications folder is lags and freezes. Not sure what is going on, not very IT oriented but I'm not an idiot all my apps at closed out and it's still happened. I verified and repaired the disk permissions and everything said it was fine. It's an iMac about a year of 500 gb and 4 gb ram?
I noticed that recently that all decent sized apps launched slower than before. I got the spinning color wheel for a while before I can use the app. The spinning beach ball also reveals itself when switching modes within certain apps. Might this be due to my hard drive became much fragmented? My OS is latest version of Snow Leopard. All the posts on the Internet says that with modern OS X, I would not need to worry about defragmenting the hard drive. Do I have an option of defragmenting my hard drive if I wanted to?
1) I am in the possession of a June 2004 PowerMac G5 DP 1.8. 2) It's the AGP+PCI variety (not PCI-X, not PCIe). 3) It's running Leopard 10.5.8 4) I've got an Ultra 6800 DDL installed.
Main Question:
What is the best way to add another (3rd) monitor?
I have had nothing but problems since I upgraded to Yosemite. My graphics programs crash and run impossibly slow. I have to restart constantly to clear maxed out memory. My internet speed drags to a crawl, and I constantly have to repair permissions to open files THAT I CREATED. I can't open file attachments from Outlook either (I will NOT use Apple Mail - my clients use Outlook, so I have to as well).

I'm new to these forums because I am considering making the switch from HP to Mac. I am sick and tired of having to buy a new computer every 2 years (if I"m lucky) because mine gets a virus or whatever (and I have a virus scan thing). My desktop computer loses the internet ALL THE TIME, but I admit that if I used my laptop, which is at school, then I probably wouldn't lose the signal. what do you like most about your MacBook? Has anyone else made the transition from Windows to Mac. I use Mac sometimes at school, and I find it kind of confusing, haha. I figure it probably just takes some getting used to.
My Macbook running 10.6.8 recently died.My backup is on Time Machine and is on an external drive. I do plan on getting a new Mabook Pro with core i5 running 10.9. How do I transition my information from my back up to the new laptop smoothly. I realize I will lose some of my programs that were not 64 bit.
I've become really accustomed to the glass trackpad. I went into my local store to try out the Air again, and realised just how much I prefer the glass trackpad and buttonless design. Has anyone else done a similar transition?
Do you know these 2 icons on the right, one for apps and one for docs? How fast are your animation before it shows up the menu wiht all apps inside? Mine seems a bit slow, like on a pc with an old or not updated video card. My MPB is 1 month old. i'm sure it was faster with fresh MACOS installed. More icons in it = slower?
Quick question: I'm upgrading from a late 2007 C2D MB (OSX 10.5.8) to the current 17" MBP, and I keep regular back ups on Time Machine. Besides the programs that won't working jumping into 10.6, are there any other issues i might face? And how exactly do I go about restoring from time machine to make a seamless transition to my new machine?
After installing OSX 10.6.8 my mail application is extremely slow in uploading content to addressees. How can I speed up the send function to levels that prevailed in OSX 10.4?
