I recently got a 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display (The Lastest Model) which is registered with iMessage. I got this laptop about 10 weeks ago and all 10 weeks the iMessages has been able to send and receive messages very quickly. I don't know what happened, but a few hours ago my MacBook just crashed trying to open iMessages and it wouldn't turn on for 3 hours and it was burning. I don't see why it dashed because this Mac has 512 GB of storage, a 2.6 GHz dual-core Intel i5 with 8 GB of Ram. It is a 13.3" Model running on OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 and is pretty much brand new. I have been keeping track of how many times the iMessages app crashes and how many times I force quit it...
Crashes: 428
Force Quits: 398
So don't tell me to force suit this thing because I did almost 400 times...
I had no trouble with the 3.x versions of Safari, but once I downloaded and installed Safari 4.x 50% of the time when I browse a basic website or I am in the middle of filing out a form my browser crashes, then I get three options which is to Quit, Ignore, and restart the browser. I always choose to close and then I relaunch the browser on my own, but has anyone come across this before is it just me, I need to solve this issue quickly.

I open up Safari and the address bar says "http://./" then it crashes and I get the notification telling me that Safari has quit unexpectedly. I've tried restarting multiple times but it keeps doing the same thing.

My safari started quitting unexpectedly after about 5 seconds of opening last night. It works when I hook up my phones internet, or use the university internet but not my BigAir connection at home. Have tried various troubleshooting ideas from other posts - including deleting caches and repair disk permissions but haven't helped. Have called my internet provider and they swear the connection is working fine.

I'm using Safari 5.0.2. Lately every time I use Safari at some point during usage when I try to open a new tab or window I cannot do so. What happens is the new tab appears but the website I want opens in one of my other tabs already open. or it will fail to load in the new tab/window. At the same time as this happening Safari is crashing more and more and my Macbook fan is whirring like mad.
Any ideas what's going on? It's so frustrating having to get chucked out or log out to make my tabs work for a short while before they stop functioning properly again.
I am not overly tecchy minded so may need hand holding to help me through this!
Safari keeps shutting down and saying there is a problem with the .WipeItOff.png plugin. I can't find anything with that name on my computer or the internet. Is this a malware trojan or something?

I had problems with the existing installation (10.6.8) ==> only Safari. Therefor I mad the update to the current version today, the problem is different but Safari stays effected. A Reinstallation of Maverik is not solving the issue ==> the same error stays alive ...

Over the weekend I had some trouble.
It started with Firefox crashing repeatedly. Each time I tried to reopen it it would crash as soon as a webpage began to load.
I attempted a restart and the problem persisted.
After a couple restarts, the whole OS crashed. First time I saw the message telling me to hold the power button for a restart and then the OS wouldn't load. Each time the machine tried to startup it would freeze and the screen would display some strange terminal-looking text.
I did a reinstall using the OSX CD and immediately updated after everything was working again. Also ran disk repair and it told me everything was fine.
Today everything seemed fine and applications opened perfectly, until I tried opening a PDF I downloaded. The PDF wouldnt open and I realized none of my apps were opening.
When I click on anything it just jumps for a sec or two and stops. This isnt just one app, but all of them. Havent tried a restart yet bc Im fearful I wont be able to open FF once/if I get going again.
Could this be a hard drive problem, even though disk check says everything is OK? I tried the reinstall and that didn't seem to work...
Does Open Office for mac crash for anyone? Frequently? Mine is horrible...in fact, I might even go out and buy Microsoft Office. Open Office for the PC never had problems like this.

I have never used Entourage before but I am on an imac using OS X version 10.4.11 2008 Office edition.
When ever I go to open anything in my inbox in crashes on me then restarts.
After I did an update it stopped for a bit then just started crashing again.
Other people in my office are having similar issues, either they cant even open Entourage or its giving them a data error message.
Why are my iphoto and itunes crashing every time I open them? This is a new problem on my Mac Mini. Have the latest software on my Mac Mini and the latest iLife sotware. I have the same problem in this thread on the Apple support website: [URL] The only solution suggested was to reinstall the os. "I'd be using firefox with no problems. I'd go to load a page, and firefox would get stuck trying to resolve a host name (implying DNS wasn't working, at best). I'd click on the airport menu item, but the menu wouldn't open. I'd move the mouse cursor off the menu bar. When I move the mouse cursor back over the menu bar, I'd see the beachball. Ill finder windows get the beachball. Killing the finder did nothing; wouldn't fully die or restart. I'd have to hard-reset the machine to recover."

I'm going to jump off a bridge if it keeps crashing on me like this. The worst part about it is that Safari doesn't have a feature that brings your tabs back if your browser crashes. Anywho, I tried reinstalling but I don't think that helped. I also tried clearing everything under preferences but that didn't seem to work. It's the most annoying when I'm watching YouTube videos in full screen and then once the video is over, I get that rainbow ball and next thing you know, Safari crashed. Does anyone know anything else I can do? I don't feel like switching back to Firefox. I love Firefox, but not as much on the Mac. And I think Chrome is just meh, I don't like Google that much since they're involved with almost everything.

Just did update to Safari 5.0 via software update. G4 Dual 867 OSX 10.5.8. Crashes every time I attempt to click on any link. Starts to connect, Beachball-crash. If left idle, without clicking any link, still crashes after less than a minute. Fixed permissions, re-installed with download from Apple site, permissions again..... no difference. Disabled Click to Flash, Ad Blocker...same thing. Just won't work!!!
View 9 Replies View RelatedSafari keeps crashing on open (it doesn't even start to open - just goes straight to crash report). It seems to be doing this since I upgraded to 5.01. I have posted the crash report below which is always the same - ie it crashes on thread 3 but I am unable to decipher why.
I repaired the permissions a number of times - and rebooted. This worked once and safari was up an running again. But the next time I came to open it it was broken again. I have even tried a reboot into safe mode which I believe rewrites all permissions rather than just repairing them - didn't work!
For a while now, the Safari 5.0 browser on my wife's MacBook Pro has been slow and sluggish with repeated crashes. So much so she started using Chrome.
Within the last week Safari on my MBP has been doing the same. Unreliable, slow, sluggish and crashing.
Using Safari 5.0.2 and crashing constantly when trying to print a PDF file out of the browser. I am using the Schubert-it PDF Viewer to view and print. Sometimes it crashes when I merely click on the print icon on the website or after the PDF file opens up in a separate window and click the print button on the separate window. It has also crashed using different printers.
Could someone take a look at this crash report log and see if anything looks weird. This just started happening, so I am not sure what I did.I have it attached as a doc file since it was too long.
Wondered if anyone else is having the problem of Safari keep crashing since the last update??
