View 3 RepliesMy Macbook is not even a month old yet and already I'm encountering problems.
1) Safari (7.0.4) won't quit several times and I have to force shut down by pressing the power button for a few seconds.
2) I keep having problems where pictures won't load and instead a blue box with a question mark is there. (on sites like Tumblr and Facebook and others as well) (at first I thought it was the site but the sites open perfectly on other computers).
I got a 3 year old white macbook. I was surfing the net when suddenly it turned off. On restart, I got the grey screen for a while, the a picture of a file with a question mark in it, waited for ten minutes, still the file. I have done the following:
1.- Reset the PRAM: I use the combination of keys, and it reboots, but on rebboting it goes back to the picture of the file.
2.- Use the option key on startup: I get a grey screen with the curso on it, which I can move with my mouse, but no buttons to click or nothing.
3.- Use the X key: as if doing nothing
4.- Resseting the SMC: as if doing nothing
i cant seem to find the culprit. When i open a album and click a picture to enlarge it, instead of it enlarging a big black exclamation point comes up with a grey circle around it? Is there a confliction with the location of the file or something? Has this happen with anyone else? If so please share your experience.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs stated in title, the desktop picture will randomly revert to a picture I had up there months ago, usually when I run the battery all the way down on my unibody MB, but also when I change display settings when i plug into an external monitor.
Do I just need just reset the PRAM or is there something else I'm missing.
BTW, I have searched and I know I only have a few posts...
i was wondering if Imovie HD has any tools to let me put one video inside of another. i'm trying to record guitar and i want to show the video for two parts at the same time?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an account in Mail.app that won't let me do anything to the e-mails coming into it. I can't delete e-mails, I can't mark them as read, and if I try to move an e-mail to another mailbox, it's copied, not moved.I've tried repairing disk permissions, and I've tried to remove the account and then adding it again ? but the problem persists. "Rebuild" in the Mailbox menu is inactive when this mailbox is selected, but works on my other accounts. The same account works fine on my iPhone; mails are getting marked as read and I can delete and move e-mails around. Same thing with webmail
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow does one take a screen picture. I have an ibook G4, but I assume one presses the same keys in a Mac Book, (or MBP), in order to get the screen picture.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2.2 Santa Rosa 15" MBP, and an odd thing happened last night. I wasn't running any unusual applications, and had a few things open and was browsing in Firefox. All of a sudden my screen went black, and wouldn't come back up.
The computer is still running just fine, and it didn't go to sleep. The LED backlight is fine, as the Apple logo is lit up and if I change the brightness I can see the backlight changing (the "black" screen gets less "black", if that makes sense), however the actual display panel isn't projecting any picture at all.
I've restarted a dozen times, reset PRAM, and did the unplug battery and hold power button trick, all to no avail. There's no flicker of a picture or anything... it's as if the monitor is completely dead (aside from the backlight being fine).
If I plug in an external monitor, I can use the computer just fine. So it's not like the video card is dead all the way.
I am a new Mac user (finally made the jump from the PC) and trying to figure out how to cut/paste a web image into a PowerPoint presentation.

So i dropped my macbook last week and turned it on and the screen is just grey, so i bought an external monitor and hooked it up and everything works fine except when i turn it on all I see is my desktop picture, no icons or anything. What could be the problem and is there a way to fix it?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook pro and i used my old phillips tv for a 2nd screen. Bought a DVI-I to DVI-I cable, and was working just fine. For xmas I got a Dynex 26inch. I noticed it has a VGA and not DVI input, so I figured I would buy a DVI-I to VGA adapter and still be able to use the same cable. I go to hook it up and my TV says no signal.
On my laptop it detected the tv as BBY LCD TV, but still has no picture. Is there a setting I need to change? Or is the better route going with a new DVI-I to VGA or HDMI cable?
I'm a mac noob. But is there a picture editing program. I know there's iphoto but is there anything that's similar to like... paint on windows. I don't need anything complex like photoshop. I just want to be able to like draw an X on a map or easily edit it for printing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got a call from my wife at home. She told me that when she opened the MBP from it's slumber she was greeted with picture below (on the left)! She couldn't do anything. I told her to close the lid and open it again, to which she got the other picture below (on the right). After a restart everything is back to normal.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just imported some pictures from my portable HDD, but the MBP got frozen in the process so I had to do it again. Now I have all my pictures imported and i'm happy with it. The problem is that every time I open iPhoto, it shows me this window: I tried importing them, but the only thing that appears is a "Recovered photo album" on the left column in the iPhoto, and it's empty. I tried finding the files in order to delete them, but couldn't find them in the directory (/users/id/pictures/iphoto/recovered...). Is this folder invisible? If so, how can I "see" invisible folders?
