MacBook Pro :: Use 2010 21.5" As An External Display?

Feb 17, 2012

I'm trying to hook it up to a late-2011 MBP. So far it isn't working (can't get into Target Mode) and I'm just wondering if anyone out there has found a hack that doesn't involve VNC.

Mac :: MacBook Pro New 2010 Display Stuck In Sleep - High Resolution Anti Glare Display

Apr 26, 2010

My brand new 15 inch MacBook Pro was working fine for a week. Today the display went to sleep and when I tried to wake it, it remained dark, items barely visible. I could see the display brightness meter changing, but the brightness did not. Restarting didn't help. Called Apple and they're going to replace the computer. Has this happened to anybody else? Note: I have the hi-res anti-glare display.

MacBook Pro :: Mostly Used Video Display Options - 2010 MBP 13"

I can sort most issues and using Macs don't really have any but I'm stuck on this one and Applecare, being Sunday, is only accepting phone calls about iPhone at present.I have a brand new 2010 MacBook Pro 13" (2.66 GHz - yes I know I'm a sucker for the extra MHz) and am having some strange issues with video and the display.whilst watching a video in full screen. At first I thought it was the file, but it happens with numerous files (not DVD though) and whether played in QT or VLC or Front Row. That picture was taken in Front Row and please excuse the iPhone shot but I couldn't make Grab work.

MacBook Pro :: MPB 2010 Mini Display Port To HDMI With Sound?

May 20, 2010

I know there are a couple of topics around here about this, but none of them are very clear.

So, I'm looking for a mini displayport to HDMI adapter that supports sound. No extra USB or 3,5mm jack for sound.

It also would be nice if the product was available in Europe (Netherlands) otherwise the shipping cost are just too high.

MacBook Pro :: (Dec 2010) Falls Asleep When Active - No Display Or Sound?

Mar 11, 2012

My Macbook Pro (purchased Dec 2010) falls asleep when I am in the middle of using it (typing, clicking, watching a tv show). There will be no display or sound, and it will sleep. Most times it will wake up when I click the touchpad alot or close and reopen the screen. However, sometimes I will need to restart. I am not sure why it is doing this all the sudden. It is happening more and more often. How can I fix it? The AC Adapter is plugged in, battery work normally and I set the energy saver so that it would not sleep when plugged in.

MacBook Pro :: Want To Use An External Monitor With My 2010 13" MBP?

I want to use an external monitor with my 2010 13" MBP. The MBP's screen resolution is 1280x800 (8:5 aspect ratio). Let's say I buy a monitor with a 1920X1080 resolution (16:9) aspect ratio. Does that mean that the image would be distorted on the extermnal display? Or can the graphics card simulataneously hadnle two different native resolutions?

MacBook :: Can Use An Additional External Monitor For Mid-2010

May 12, 2012

I currently run my MacBook in clamshell mode with an external monitor, keyboard, etc.  I have researched usb to VGA or DVI conversion kits but all of the sources seem outdated.  I don't need HDMI because my sound output goes through my MiniPort Display, out through speakers connected to my primary monitor. I am aware that a usb connection will come with lag, but it isn't that big of a deal.

MacBook Pro :: Error When Connecting The MBP 2010 To An External Monitor

Jun 3, 2010

I have been using my MBP (2010, i7 17" model) with a 24" HP external HDMI LCD monitor. The connection is via the Apple's Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. It was working perfectly the first day I tried. However, when I connected the external monitor to the MBP yesterday, I found that the LCD screen of the external monitor was blinking. It lasted for about 5 minutes and then the problem was gone by itself. I have just reconnected my MBP to the monitor again. The problem reappears. Anybody knows what is going on and how to fix it?

Hardware :: Display For My Mid 2010 13 MBP

Dec 16, 2010

Hey everyone, I searched first, but all I found was threads on the ACD's, and displays running $900+.

I'm looking for a display for my mid 2010 13" MBP. I currently have my MBP and a windows Desktop, but having two computers is more of a hassle than it needs to be when I can just set up a desktop station/dock.

I currently have a 20" monitor, but I want something bigger. I'm looking at 27" monitors. The ACD is way out of my budget (college budget), along with the Dell U2711, and other monitors.

I would like to stay around $300ish for just the monitor. I'm thinking I should get a LED display.

So the question is, whats a great monitor that you would recommend thats moderately priced ($300) thats 27"?

MacBook Pro :: 2010 MacBook Pro With Cinema 30 Display?

Firstly the Cinema won't get out of the sleep mode. Secondly the MacBook Pro doesn't detect the Cinema at all.

This is when I have my MBP on A/C power with the Nvidia graphics card turned on. Evenso, there is no powersaving util or what so ever switched on.

MacBook :: Finding An External Display That Matches My Black MacBook Display

As the title states. I am looking for an external display that matches the display on my black MacBook. I want one with the same gloss finish as my MacBook, this way I can calibrate both screens to look the same. That way when I switch screens it doesn't look different.

Anyone know of a screen that looks identical to the (previous generation) MacBook? I was thinking of getting a Samsung T240 but it has a different finish. How are ASUS screens? Any screens out there that have the same gloss finish?

MacBook Air :: 2010 From 13" 2010 And IPad Owner's Point Of View

Oct 26, 2010

I have an iPad 32GB WiFi and a MacBook Pro as well so I was trying very hard to justify myself in getting an 11" MBA but ending up talking myself out of it. The 13" MBP is perfect for my uses. It's already lightweight and portable as it is. After playing with the 11" in the Apple store, I was impressed on how light it was. This no doubt blows away any netbook or any notebook in it's weight class in terms of size and performance. However, the MBP's battery life, hard drive space, and processing power OUTWEIGHS the reasons of dumping my 13" MBP for the Air. Also, I have it hooked up to a 21.5 Inch HP monitor at home and it's good enough to use as a main computer at home, and light enough to take on the road.

If I needed to lookup something quickly in bed or around the house, that's where the iPad comes in. If I needed to send a quick e-mail, my HTC Evo is already great at doing that. If I didn't have a 13" MBP or even the iPad, I would have most likely went ahead and purchased the MBA. Just now at this point, spending another $1000+ or getting rid of my MBP doesn't make much sense... yet.

MacBook Pro :: Use Computer In Closed Clam-shell (display Closed) Mode With An External Display?

Jun 4, 2012

I have an 13" MBP that I ordered new in April, 2012. It is running Lion. I have an external monitor that is capable of 1440x900 resolution. I have an external keyboard and trackpad hooked up, and I like to close my MBP up and stick it in a BookArc. I want to be able to have the internal display disabled and to have the MBP only allow me to put windows on the external display, so long as the lid is closed. I also want to be sure that I am taking advantage of the resolutions available on my external monitor, which are higher than those supported by the internal display (specifically 1440x900).

This doesn't seem to work because I either have to allow the MBP to continue to draw my desktop across both screens (internal and external), OR use the "mirror displays" mode, which restricts my resolution of my external monitor. This means I either forgoe the additional resolution benefits of my external monitor, or I end up with windows that fall off-the-cliff, so to speak, because they are drawn in the portion of the desktop that would be shown on my internal display (which is closed).

I've read the community support pages on using the MBP with an external monitor, most relevantly, this page. It simply recommends using the "mirror displays" option. However, this option, as I mentioned above, doesn't allow me to make use of the additional resolution, and my external display looks bad. how to keep the 13" MBP in closed clamshell position, with the internal display disabled, and use my external monitor at resolutions higher than those allowed by the 13" MBP but which are available to my external monitor when not in "mirror displays" mode?

MacBook Pro :: Worth Buying 13" 2010 Or MB 2010 Better?

Apr 15, 2010

I've been lurking MacRumors ever since 'the wait for Arrandale' began and finally decided to sign up now so I could post this thread. I've been a Windows user for a long time now and I have a Win7 rig at home. However, I'll be going to uni later this year so I need a good portable notebook that's suitable for the common mailing 'n surfing, but also for doing some programming in Eclipse (Java) and PHP work etc. I still have my Win7 box at home for gaming and things that require larger screensize, but for the notebook... I feel really attracted to OSX with a MBP.

It will be my first Mac, but my desktop dualboots with OSX and I love it. So that's why I have decided that my school notebook will be a Mac. This is why I have been closely watching the rumors for the new MBPs and ofcourse I was pretty disappointed when I saw that the 13" model still had a C2D cpu... It's not that I need a beefed up CPU in my notebook (... I have a 3.6 GHz quad at home ), but it feels 'wrong' to buy a MBP 13": even the 2009 MacBook has a C2D, so what will the MB 2010 update bring? Is it really worth the extra money? Anyone with a similar situation?

Just got my new 2.8 with 5870. From the start it gave me some trouble getting it to turn on. I kept trying different plugs and such throughout the house and randomly I got it on. It was working good but I noticed that waking it from sleep the machine will click and the sleep light goes out and a red led behind the grill comes on briefly. I try pushing the power button to hear another click and the red led flashes. These problems seem intermittent and sometimes it will sleep fine. Im using 2 acer monitors connected via 2 vga-mini display adaptors.
