MacBook Pro :: 2010 MacBook Pro With Cinema 30 Display?

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro 15" i7 with both the Intel and Nvidia graphics card. Now I want to hook-up my Cinema 30" to the MacBook Pro. Therefor I've purchased a mini-display to dual-link DVI cable but this is where the troubles start.
Firstly the Cinema won't get out of the sleep mode. Secondly the MacBook Pro doesn't detect the Cinema at all.
This is when I have my MBP on A/C power with the Nvidia graphics card turned on. Evenso, there is no powersaving util or what so ever switched on.

I just got a 24" cinema display and connected it to my 13" 2010 MBP and the resolution won't go above 1280x800. It's connected via the mini display port.

I picked up a Cinema 27" last night. I hooked the power up to my 2010 17" MBP and noticed that parts of the back of the monitor got pretty warm. Almost hot even. I could touch it with my hand, but no question, it was pretty warm on parts of the back. Particularly to the left of the Apple logo if you are looking at the screen.
This was after the charged state was 100% and the laptop was just connected to the power cord from the monitor.
So, this morning, I went ahead and plugged the laptop up to it's normal power supply, not using the power from the monitor and, sure enough, the monitor is quite cool all over the back.
Has anyone else noticed this, and does anyone think that it gets a little bit too warm when the laptop is hooked up to the monitor power supply?
Another reason for concern is that there is no ventilation anywhere on this monitor, save the grill on the bottom where the speakers are and heat rises, and it really has nowhere to go.

My brand new 15 inch MacBook Pro was working fine for a week. Today the display went to sleep and when I tried to wake it, it remained dark, items barely visible. I could see the display brightness meter changing, but the brightness did not. Restarting didn't help. Called Apple and they're going to replace the computer. Has this happened to anybody else? Note: I have the hi-res anti-glare display.

I am contemplating an upgrade from my 2.2 / 4G MBP with 128M VRAM, as i find that it often chokes on simpliest HD movie files created with a DSLR (weekish video), regardless whether I use it with or without the 30 inch Cinema display. So, I am curious how the new Air will run an external monitor, and whether it has enough juice to at least display the HD movies shot with a DSLR without dropped frames/jerkiness. (I guess I am asking two questions in one).

This is sad I don't know this, but I've only used Macs for a year and have only used a Macbook. This weekend I bought a cinema display to go with it. I plugged in the DVI cable, but was expecting there would also be a cable from the display into the wall socket? The display has four cables coming out of it, the DVI, USB, firewire and another. I clicked the display's power button, but only get a black screen.

I bought a new 24" LED Cinema Display today but once I got it home I found that it doesn't want to charge my MacBook's battery. It said "Not Charging" when I clicked the battery icon in the menu bar but I really thought nothing of it. Then, while I was transferring files from my external HDD to the MacBook everything just turned off completely. I feared the worst and when I tried booting my MacBook it simply would not turn on. It seems like the Cinema Display had bled my MacBook dry - it had no charge in the battery and I had to do an NVRAM reset to get it to charge again over the power adapter. Still when I connect my Cinema Display to the Magsafe it does not charge the computer, yet it does charge fine when I connect it to the MacBook power adapter. Seems like a faulty Cinema Display to me, but it was an 80 mile round trip to the store to buy it, I don't really want to have to go back. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm thinking of picking up the 27'' when it arrives, but I don't know how I'm going to be able to use the speakers in the new display? My MBP doesn't have MiniDisplay Port with audio and I don't think that the display has any ports to connect something else? how/if I can make audio work?
It's a June 2009 Macbook Pro. 15'', 2.8Ghz stock model.

I have an old "apple cinema hd display" ... how do I connect to my new mac book pro. The cord coming out of the display is one big cord that turns into 4 cords (1. power, 2. firewire, 3. usb, and 4. the monitor plug that has 2 sets of 9 prongs and 1 dash). I just got a refurbished macbook pro 2.3 GHz Intel core i7 built in Feb 2011.Any ideas how to connect..On another note ... with my wireless apple mouse, what was once swipe down meant scroll down on the screen ... now it's swipe down is scroll up ... is there a way to reverse that?

have been looking around online on how the best way to connect my new Mbp that arrives tomorrow to an old apple LCD cinema display that my dad managed to save from redundancy from one of his work clients. (am being given the screen).
I know there is a mini display port to dvi adapter sold by apple but it has very negative reviews, and wondered if anyone has any better suggestions for a way that i could connect it?

I'm trying to set up a MacBook (White) and 30" Cinema Display - I'm using an Apple mini DVI to DVI adaptor. The max resolution I can set the macbook to run at is 1280 X 800 and the Cinema display looks all blocky and not good - I know the macbook is not capable of running the 30" displays native resolution of 2560 X 1600 but I thought DVI could go up to 1600 X 1200? I installed the 30" cinema display software / drivers - Is there anything else I can do in Tiger to increase the maximum external display resolution?

So my buddy brought over his first-generation-aluminum 20" cinema display. I have a DisplayPort to VGA connector, and a vga-dvi converter, and I plugged the cinema display into that. Nothing is showing up on the cinema display - it's just black.

Im planning on purchasing a Samsung 2494HM 24" 1080p LCD monitor w/ HDMI input. Will this work with the new 13" mpb perfectly? and if it does what extra stuff do i need. I googled "macbook to lcd display" but the results were so scattered that I didnt know where to start. would the samsung monitor look just as good as the apple cinema display or would it look good but not as good. redundant i know hah.

My current set up consists of a unibody Macbook Pro and a 20" iMac. I use my computers for video editing and watching films/tv shows. I'm considering selling my iMac and replacing it with a 24" Cinema Display. Just turned my com from sleep and im greeted to a 640 x 480 uber low res display! it's the second 24" ACD ive had as the first had a crack in in the screen. I have tried plugging into a single wall outlet, restarting, shutting down the mbp - still the same 640x 480 - really poor show on this apple product, from my personal experience. What is the definitive solution? Ive had it 2 days - the cracked one worked fine for 4 days and that was running of the exact same plug / socket. Another thread on ASupport discussions - [URL]

I have an LED cinema display and a MBP unibody, and they have been working fine together for around 3 months.
However, have just noticed that the cinema display magsafe connector no longer charges my macbook, it just says (Not Charging) in the battery zone.

I just got the brand new 15" MBP with high res screen, and it is paired with the 24" cinema display.
First thing I noticed is the colors are way off between the two monitors and it is very annoying....I have tried calibrating both with no results, they just have way different profiles to be able to match them.

I was wondering if the Apple 24" Cinema Display functioned well as a USB Hub. I'd like to hook up an external hard drive, an Apple wired keyboard and an iPhone 4 dock up to an ACD. Will all those work when I connect the ACD up to my MacBook Pro? It'd make it much more convenient to plug in and take out my MacBook.

I have an older 2009 13inch macbook pro. I watch large 1080p files and the video is just a tiny bit studdery when played at the resolution of 2560x1440. If I reduce the reslution to 1920x1080p the video plays smoothly. Do I lose any image quality for playing the video when the moniter isnt set to its native resolution?

Sometimes I use my laptop (macbook pro) just on its own, and no problem connecting to wifi... then if I plug it into the display and sometimes the wifi drops... Maybe just irregular boadband service, but I wonder if adding displays or bluetooth or anything like that causes problems with wifi?

I have a late 2011 15" macbook pro running latest lion os that suddenly - when connected to my 24" cinema dislay - speeds up the fan. I have tried to reset both pram and smc, but still it heats up when I connect to the display. What to do?
