May 5, 2010Is there a way to get the up and down arrows on a MBP to scroll up and down faster? It seems quite slow to me.

View 6 RepliesI'm a developer and I dual boot OSX with Ubuntu, basically for my work, although I'd like to progressively make the switch completely to OSX (mainly because of battery life).
One thing, though, that's keeping me away from making that change is the possibility to re-map "Home" and "End" keys, which I'd like to have as fn + <- and fn + ->.
Yes, I've searched and although I found a few topics about similar things, I never got to really soving my problem.
So, fellow experts, how can I accomplish this?
so everyone knows the little black arrows under the dock icons when they are open... Well my question is if anyone knows a way to change their color! I had seen OrangeSVTguy talk about it before but there was never an explanation on how! I am looking to change them to green!

I have to say that switching to Lion has not been the joy I was led to believe. One of the most annoying of the many annoying quirks of Lion is that the right hand Scroll Bar no longer has Up/Down arrows, just a stupid and hard to see gray bar of varying length, and controlling it is a nightmare. Does anyone know anything about how to add Up/Down arrows to the scroll bars? Is there some setting. Apple, if you're listening, please restore this essential function to your OS. The lack of Up/Down arrows in the scroll bar makes Lion more like an alley cat.

Just got a new Mini with Mavericks. In setting it up I notice that applications like Preview and Safari, and probably others, do not have the scroll arrows at the top and bottom of the scroll bar. Is this something new with Mavericks, I've been using Snow Leopard for the past 5 years.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is a way to choose options using keyboard arrows. For example, when Finder asks me whether I want to open a downloaded file from the internet, and I want to say "No", I want to be able to press left and press enter and that'll be it. Instead, I have to use my mouse to click on No.
Is there a way to do this? I went to System Prefs, Keyboards, and clicked on All Controls, but that wasn't the solution.

I just noticed that I have a strange new icon in my Leopard-menubar. It has two circular arrows. If I click on it, it displays three choice: "Never Synchronized .Mac", "Synchronize now" and "Open .Mac Sync Preferences". If I click "Sync now", the arrows rotate for a while, and nothing seems to happen. In Activity Monitor "SyncServer" works for a while, and the goes back to sleep. It seems that the icon is related to .Mac. I'm not a .Mac-subsriber and I have never touched any of the related, and I have no idea where that icon came from. And I have no idea how to get rid of it.

One would think this would be dead easy, but no. I've got a PDF that I need to draw a double arrow on. Placing an arrow is easy, but what the heck does the drop down menu do in the tool box that shows an icon for lines with arrows in both directions or double arrow lines. If I have the double arrow line selected and chose an new line I get nadda. If I chose an arrow I've already placed and go back to this drop down menu in the toolbox, I still see the double arrow line selected, but I've got nadda
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter installing SL yesterday on my iMac, after a few hours, my right/down arrows began "activating" and repeating. At first I thought it was only happening in Finder, but it just came out of sleep while in Safari and was repeating the Submarine echo like crazy. I've restarted and also unplugged the keyboard thinking maybe it just some random error, but nothing. The only "cure" seems to be actually tapping the down/right arrow keys while the glitch is happening.
UPDATE: I'm in the middle of re-installing snow leopard and I used a hot corner to turn the monitor off and about 10 seconds in, the repeating key began again and monitor popped back on. wtf?!
I have iLive 09, recently upgraded from 08. I thought I'd play around with Faces, so I tagged about a dozen or so pics of my son's face.
It has been stuck on "KID may also be on the photos below" with the two spinning arrows for about a day. I see my CPU is running heavy the entire time on Activity Monitor with Iphoto taking most of the clicks.
How long does this usually take? or is this stuck in some bizarre loop and I'd best re-install iPhoto.. Going to let it run for another night (hope it doesn't get TOO hot!!)
I have about 13K photos when I select all and it gives me a count. That may be part of the issue.
There used to be arrows on the side for me to scroll up and down. I'm workinig in Word 2008 with Lion. All the scroll bar has is the double arrows which will give you the "previous," or "next page."I don't want the next page, I want to be able to scroll line by line.I DO have a scroll bar, just not the single arrows that let you scroll line by line.I also don't want to move the curser by using the arrows because many time I want to keep my place.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago arrows started to appear above my tabs. The arrow corresponds to where my cursor is on the page and as I move my cursor, the arrow moves to the next tab and shifts my page view from one tab to the other. It's a quick way to navigate but I have no idea what activates it or how to turn it off. It's driving me away from Safar.

I just installed MS Office 2011 on my MacBook Pro (with Mavericks). But when I open a Word or Excel window, it does not have the two arrows icon on the top right corner that every application has (the icon to open the windows on a new desktop like a kind of "full screen" mode. I dont know the name of the icon). I have already installed the updates, but the icon does not appear.Â

Is there a reason why the keyboard short cuts for volume is adjusted with the VERTICAL arrows knowing that the volume bar is HORIZONTAL and that the next song shortcut is with HORIZONTAL arrows knowing that the song are listed VERTICALLY?
Although I've been using using iTunes since the very beginning, I just cannot get used to this reverse logic...I often use it "live" for parties and so scared to switch song instead of volume that I keep using the trackpad instead!Â
