MacBook Pro :: Scrolling With Two Fingers Freezes?
Oct 19, 2010
When browsing using Firefox (Haven't tried other browsers) and using the two finger gesture to scroll, it will stop scrolling, won't go down or up, and the only way to get it unstuck is to wiggle the page slider and then it will work again. Is this a Firefox, OSX, or hardware issue and is there a fix to it?

I do not know why but over time the browsers (firefox and safari) get to be with a lot of lag, which makes it quite boring on the scroll and to see the many processes iStat times are up 70% of which are usually even with 20% seeing flash sites.

I have a mid-2009 13 inch mbp and I have been having problems with 2 finger swiping on the trackpad. When I use two finger swipe up/down for scrolling through websites in Safari, it also does Expose as if I am using 4 fingers. This only happens when I try to scroll through a page fast.

I tried to do an import from my old MB to my new MBP (unibody) and I got so much of bloat and crap from the old one, that I just reinstalled OSX on the MBP - which has literally saved me gigs. Here's a problem though: Before I could use 3 fingers on the trackpad to "jump" up and down (the beginning or end) on a webpage, but now I am unable to do that, only left to right (forward/backward) is working. How do I get that old functionality back? And my second question, after I installed osx you get that "welcome animation" which basically says "welcome" in a lot of languages. How do I get that to play again?

If you all knew about this before then sorry - I just haven't seen any mention of it anywhere but it definitely works. It may only be a program specific thing cos it doesn't work in mail or itunes but in iWork it jumps a page at a time and in firefox it skips to the bottom of the page. I find it very useful when browsing so I thought I'd let you know. You put three fingers down (I use my 3 middle) and just scroll with the outside 2 leaving your middle finger still. It feels a bit awkward at first but once I got used to it it was fine.

Using a 7,1 MBP and shortly after updating it, I've been having trouble with my trackpad. Basically any function involving two or more fingers regardless of my settings is not working. Additionally tap to click is non-existent. Using it has become a chore and after searching all over I can't seem to find an answer.

Everything works except the right click(2 fingers) and keyboard light. I remember when I installed Xp on my MacBook; there was bootcamp assistant or setting in xp but I dun see it in the MacBook pro.As for the keyboard light, I tried to turn off the room light but it's still not working.

I recently traveled to Europe with a MacBook Pro, and plugged it into the outlet with a travel converter. My understanding is that the brick on the magsafe cable works as a transformer and it is safe to plug into a European outlet. I've never had a problem with other laptops.
Everything worked fine with the machine, except I could always feel an "electric" sensation through my hands when touching the aluminum case. This was especially apparent when running my fingers across the top -- it was as if I could feel an electric current running through the case.
This seemed harmless, and I ran the computer without fail during my time abroad. My question is out of curiosity -- is this sensation normal? What exactly is it?

I have search this forum and the web for my answer with no luck. I have a 2007 15" Macbook Pro which has work flawlessly up until now. Yesterday, when I was done using my computer I put it in sleep mode as I usually do. When I went to use it today, I noticed I am no longer able to scroll down on anything using the 2 finger scroll on my trackpad as I usually do. I have since shut down and restarted my computer twice which did not fix the issue. Does anyone know why I can no longer scroll? I haven't downloaded any apps or anything recently that would affect this.

Problem I have, on my last generation macbook, I would rest one finger on the track pad, and just scroll with the other one, and it would scroll down the whole screen. Now with the new macbook, I actually have to scroll with both fingers for it to actually work. Also can't get used to the two button tap, I keep doing it but mistake, mostly to the huge trackpad and me resting my fingers on it.
Anyone had this similar problems? I know it's nitpicking but I miss my old trackpad.

I have a 3 month old MacBook Pro 13inch, whenever I 2 finger scroll on webpages in chrome or safari there is a scratching sound which comes from the top left of the mac. The sound is similar to processor noise but can be louder. I have noticed that the sound is less amplified when running without the power cable attached, but is still there.

So, been playing with it and I don't know if it translates as well to the laptop world. I love when i use it on the iPhone but it feels a bit 'funky' using it on the trackpad. Maybe it's me, but it just doesn't feel quite right. I am going to give it some more time but I personally may be turning this feature off.

I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem that I am right now. After today's (28/7) system update, which included the MagicPad app, I can't seem to turn off the annoying smooth scrolling from any software in my late 2009 MacBook Pro.

Every now and then my trackpad acts up. When I scroll down/up (2 finger swipe down/up), it does a right click instead of scrolling. I bought this brand new at the apple store and its acting up within less than a month. I don't want to have an exchange if they'll give me a refurbished looking one.

My wife's cat walked over her Macbook keyboard. Thereafter, when she uses the trackpad to try to move the cursor, the display moves in response, and the cursor sometimes moves, stutters, delays. Usually, both move.
So my guess is the cat hit some odd combination of keys changing some preference.
We could not find anything in System Preferences/trackpad, or searching the forums here (not that i know which words to use).

My MB started doing this really strange thing where the screen gets all weird and distorted when scrolling. There are photos to show what's going on.
I have 4GB of OWC memory installed, but this was happening before I installed that so I can kind of rule that out.
Has anyone else had this happen, or know what causes it. I've tried all of the usual fixes like a fresh Leopard install and combo updates.
