View 1 RepliesIntel X25-M 160GB, how do I find out if it has the latest firmware v1.5 from Dec 8, 2009. And is the Solid State Drive Toolbox v1.3 from Mar 22, 1010 worth downloading?Intel's download/support page doesn't tell you how to know if your SSD has the latest firmware or not.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'n not sure anyone uses either printer on this forum, but I figured I ask anyways.
I'm in need a of a new printer, I have the discontinued kodak 1400 dye-sub printer which I'm looking to replace. Long story short, I'm down to two printers:The HP 8850 and the Canon pro9000 (the older model or the MKII)I've heard complaints of HP's drivers/quality/tech support lately but in the past I've been a satisfied customer. I never owned/used a canon so I have nothing to judge them on.So, I'm fishing for advice, in general on HP vs. Canon (especially for the mac related drivers/support) and specifically if anyone has any advice or insight on either of these two printers.
Just received SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0, MacBook EFI Firmware Update 1.4, and AirPort Client Update 2009-002 1.0 on Software Update for 13" Unibody MacBook.

I'm unable to turn it back on with the power button unless i hold it down for a slow count to 10. Fyi - machine is 100% charged when this happens. Two days ago, I did SMC and PRC resets with Apple Care. I needed to do both of these again yesterday on my own.

I tried to apply the firmware update to the Intel X25-M SSD on my 09 MP yesterday. I'm not currently having any issues with the SSD, but thought I would be proactive about updating. The update failed , and I received the following recommended changes before trying again:- Disable Drive Protection in your BIOS and retry the update- Enable Legacy IDE mode in your BIOS and retry the updateHas anyone out there successfully applied this update on an 09 Mac Pro? If so, were any tweaks needed to make it work?

I know OSX has no TRIMM support yet, and there is a lot of rumbling about using the right firmware in order to increase the SSD's lifespan. I read I'll probably have to use Windows in order to update the firmware in OCZ SSD's. Can anyone tell me, how I can check the firmware version of the SSD using OSX ? Can it be done, or do you need Windows for this as well ?? I have no idea what firmware it runs, so there is no way to know if it needs updating.

About MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.8 This update eliminates the noise made by the optical disk drive during system startup and wake from sleep on MacBook Pro computers. When installation is complete, run Software Update again, and install SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0
To complete the firmware update process, follow the instructions in the updater application (/Applications/Utilities/MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update.app). The updater will launch automatically when the installation is complete.
I was hoping to get an answer to this question. I'm hoping 1.6.
can a recent buyer chime in?
I have had a problem with this EFI frimware 2.6 update, that does not seem to want to be updated. Is there a problem with my MBP or what do i need to do to be able to complete the update and get rid of it. everytime i click on software updates, i see this update still there even though i installed it many times, however, its still there. This could only mean one thing either it did not install or there is an error with the software update reporting that its still not updated. Â

I finally brought the 13in macbook air. What are some good softsleeves for macbook air 13in. I want a soft sleeves that fits perfectly with macbook air and below $30. Is it possible?off topic: this is my first mac computer, how do I update the firmware to 2.0?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter the update, my MacBook Pro is extermely sluggish. Prior to the update, I was zipping along like most happy MacBook Pro owners. After the update, I constantly see the dreaded beach ball when doing almost anything with the laptop, Safari pages take longer to load, etc.
It's almost as if the udpate had the opposite effect and actually throttled down my WD 500GB HDD performance to a large degree.
Like I said, prior to the update all was good. I've been searching to see if there is a way to revert back to the previous firmware to validate that the update caused the problem but I haven't been successfull in finding anything yet.
So, I'm still having trouble with the MacBook I posted about here. It kernel panics even more frequently now, a month later, about once every 30 minutes. I'm running 10.5.8 now (no Snow Leopard for me!).
Anyway, the problem I'm posting about is that I can't boot into Open Firmware. It works fine just booting straight through to OS X (except about a third of the time I start up it kernel panics right after the Apple logo appears) but it won't boot into Open Firmware. I hold down Command-Option-O-F to no avail and it just won't go. (I'm trying to do reset-all to see if that helps any.)
I tried booting into Open Firmware successfully on my other Mac so it's nothing I'm doing, this MacBook obviously has some serious issues.
I'd rather not have to take this computer to the Apple Store again - every time I do they just reinstall the system/replace the hard drive and don't take me seriously when I say the problem is not with software. (Plus the warranty on this machine is up now and I'm trying to avoid paying hundreds of dollars!)
Anyone know what the issue could be? i really need a new computer hahaha...
Oh! I also tried booting into Open Firmware by holding down the power button continuously as suggested here... the on/off light blinked 3-4 times, the computer made a really long beep (like I was trying to do a firmware update), then started as normally. So I don't think that worked either lol.
I finished building this macbook out of lots of parts. The Logic Board is a 2.0GHZ Core duo and it has 1.5GB RAM. Sometimes when I open the lid it restarts from a black screen. And I can't install the Firmware because of "An Unexpected Error occurred your firmware could not be updated (0)".
