Jul 8, 2009New to Macs and struggling a bit with the high res/ average eye sight combo.
I've managed to get most of my apps text sizes ok for me to see (though FF skews things up a bit), but I find my toolbar icons and text size to be a bit small for me.
Two main apps cause me grief. Mail and Office. I can't seem ti find anywhere where I can increase the size of the toolbar icons. In mail i can use Large icons, but that doesn't affect the toolbar. In Office (mainly Word/Excel) I can't seem to find anything at all.

May 15, 2012With the last few versions of Safari, including 5.1.7, the toolbar has not been customizable. When right clikcing or using menu the toolbar window does not appear. Clicking any icon on toolbar removes that element. This suggests the toolbar is in an edit mode. Only a restart will reset toolbar. Running snow leopard. All updates added To OS.

May 1, 2010I cannot uninstall the TV Center Toolbar from Safari. I used the uninstall feature on the toolbar, and the uninstall feature in "applications" "toolbars" "uninstal" folder. I have even re-installed the application and then tried to uninstall (as per the companies instructions). A good 3rd party software to uninstall perhaps??

OS X :: Icon Stuck On Desktop - Will Not Move Or Delete
Nov 7, 2009I just got a macbook pro. I installed some apps. I opened the applications folder from the dock and I attempted to drag the icon to the dock to create a shortcut there. My finger came off the track pad and the icon snapped over to the far upper left corner of the desktop. It's in the corner under the apple symbol on the menu bar. It's a transparent white square with a question mark in it. If I clicked on it it would open the app it's linked to. But I can't move it or delete it. If I right click a small window comes up showing the path to the app momentarily. I tried uninstalling the app and rebooting no luck. Looking in the desktop folder shows nothing. It looks stupid and it blocks the x-out of any app that is open full size.

Mar 9, 2012I downloaded a couple of apps that I decided I didn't need, so I moved them to the trash. When these apps were downloaded and installed, their icons were added to Launchpad, but when I deleted the apps, the icons remained in Launchpad. These were not downloaded from the Mac App Store. Is there an easy way to get rid of the icons? It would seem that when an app is deleted, the respective icon should be removed at the same time.

I have tried changing the rw permission and reselecting the original appliaction etc. But still unable to delete these alias icons. can someone point me in the right dircetion to use Terminal command such as rm -f file name to permanetely remove these left over icons. Before OS X Lion 10.7 I was able to chmod etc and delete the icon.

Jan 12, 2011I'm trying to find a solution to an issue a family member it having with Yahoo Messenger and an iMac. The computer is an early release aluminum iMac, running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11. Yahoo Messenger is the most current version installed. A transparent image of the Messenger icon is on the dock and seems to be stuck between the dock's line near the trash can. It won't delete, even deleted the normal version of Messenger, shut down the computer and restarted it. The image was still on the dock. Are there Messenger files in other folders, that somehow didn't get deleted when the application was deleted, causing this?
