Loading my printer software, it looks like it has loaded it twice, its 1st give me a message i did not load correctly so I reloaded it so my morning to learn how to remove software from the MacBook Pro?
View 1 RepliesI just removed over 1000 cookies. They were bogging the system down to the point of having some pages freeze. I then closed Safari. I launched Safari again a few minutes later and all the cookies were back, even though the only site I went to was the Apple open page.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just noticed that in my Finder window sidebar, under "Shared", I have a character called Thomson listed. I don't know any Thomson and I bought the machine, an MBA, brand new. However, I did have an engineer instal the machine in my apartment and can only assume he's the mysterious Thomson. Anyway, whoever he/she is, I don't want him/her on my machine as Shared & "connected as guest". The point is, I cannot find a way to delete Thomson!! Can anyone help? I've tried System Preferences>Security and Accounts and there's no trace of Thomson there. Right clicking on Thomson in the sidebar of Finder only gives me the option to Open and Get Info. Most annoying, this. There MUST be a way to delete a Sharing but totally unwanted guest....

I do not have the original disk with the old macbook but I did update to snow leopard on it. The disc are back 2500 miles away. I put the new MBP disc in but it said it cannot install.

I normally use my laptop plugged in with the AC adaptor, but at least once a week I use the battery, usually discharging it until the last warning pops up before it goes dead. I only got 242 cycles out of the second battery purchased at and installed by the nearest Apple authorized repair shop about 18 months ago (to replace my first expanded/bulging battery about 18 months after purchase).The second battery is also expanding/bulging and the laptop is shutting down unexpectedly. Battery life indicator shows 2 1/2 hours of life at 99% charge & drop-down states "Service Battery". I have ordered a new battery from Laptop Battery One for $69 to replace myself
I understand battery longevity will vary greatly with usage. I watch no DVDs, play no music, and no games, and use most of the battery saving tips. I do notice the bottom of the case heating up from time to time, but I usually always place it on a hard surface so the bumpers keep the bottom up to allow air circulation. Is 242 cycles awfully low for a battery (online claims state 400-800 cycles)? Should I remove my new battery when using AC?

Is there a way to remove the hard drive from an old MacBook I have that stopped working (the plug where the power cord goes in is messed up nothing is wrong with the hard drive I believe) and use that hard drive as an external hard drive for my new(ish) iMac and use it for extra space? View 24 Replies View RelatedI have, for some stupid reason, scratched the left palmrest with my nail so that scratchmarks have appeared. I honestly can't remember why I did it, but i think that I thought i was removing dirt from it that way.
What I basically wonder is if I might have scratched the first layer off, or if I really did remove some dirt. I didn't really apply much pressure so I think it's just dirt. So is there a way to clean the whole thing so that it looks white again instead of scratched?

Instead of the typical tri-wing that Apple has used in the past, this screw is a 5-pointed torx with a post, requiring a special driver to remove it. It is a size-6 (TX6) bit, bit with the 5 points and the post, I cannot find a driver to remove it. Has anyone had success with this?
