I have experienced in the last few days a sudden shut down on my MacBook Pro. I've searched the web and found something about RSS (Random Sudden Shutdown) but I still can't find a solution.

When i restart my computer the time was rest in 2000. i had reprove some only permission. google chrome don't let me surf the web your connection is not private. I bought a MacBook Pro September 2007, the last months I have experienced a sudden shutdown of it without any low battery warning. After browsing around the forums I found a app called Coconut Battery which I installed. This is what it showed me: What I can do to get my battery performance better? Do I have to invest in a new battery? And aren't the prices on those extreme?

I've had my MBP since Oct of 2007. About 2 weeks ago it would not turn on so I had the logic board replaced. After I got it back it would randomly shut down, the only solution I could do is take out the battery and work at the lower clockspeed but it still shut down without warning, just less frequently. I thought it might be the power cord or the battery so I got those replaced but it is still happening. The first day I had the battery (yesterday) it worked fine, no random shutdowns, I calibrated the battery per apple instructions and today it worked great (during charge up and plugged in at full charge) for about 5 hours, then it shut down, I turned it back on and it shut down shortly after, I reset the SMC by taking out the battery and holding down the power button and putting it back in and it shut down again.
Then I tried to run the hardware test and it shut down again so now I am posting this out of frustration. I also reset the pram and it shut down again. Now it won't stay on for more than getting through the login screen. I don't have applecare but they replaced the logic board for no cost (which I don't fully understand), I'd rather not take it back but I will if you guys have no ideas. I looked up (with difficulty) the previous shutdown code: -2 (http://www.macwizard.com/errors.html) and it said it was a "General System Error (VBL Mgr, Queue) -2 vTypErr invalid queue element" but I have no idea what that means.

Has anyone had the following problem? My Macbook Pro is 2.5 years old and has recently been shutting down for no apparent reason while plugged and unplugged into the power adapter. I went to the Apple store a few weeks ago for an issue where the Macbook Pro would not turn back on at all. They had to replace the logic board. But after that, I now have the problem of the shutdowns. I went to the Apple store and got a new power adapter because mine was broken. I thought that would be the problem, but it isn't. I also recently reinstalled my operating system and the problem is still occurring. Does anyone have any advice? My laptop is a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. My battery is in 'poor' condition, but according to the Apple experts, the battery has nothing to do with this issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having an issue with my Macbook Pro, it keeps turning off while on battery power while I am playing a game (Starcraft II) despite having sufficent charge remaining. It won't turn back on until I plug it back in. Usually when I turn it back on the time and date are reset and the password to my wifi has to be rentered. The most recent time this happened after I plugged it back in the battery still had 79% charge remaining. I've tried recalibrating the battery and resetting the SMC both which did not solve the problem. The system report states that the battery's condition is normal and I ran a hardware test which also came back normal.

My system has randomly shut down twice now in the last two days. Dual G5 2.3. I checked the console log, which I know very little about, and it said this:

Two questions-
what's the -122 code mean?
Do you think resetting the PMU would be the solution to this?
The first problem, which is what I named the thread for, is that for no reason, while sitting on a desk, doing disk intensive work, the drive clicks fairly loudly and seems to spin down, causing delays. Is it a faulty drive, or can this be fixed via software?
The second may be related to the first. When watching somewhat large movie files (>600mb), the video skips for about 30 seconds every 30 minutes. While this may not seem like much, it is incredibly annoying. Is this because of the speed of the drive, or is it faulty? Coming from a 500gb 7200rpm external for my iMac, I never experienced either of these problems, although I suspect the first has something to do with the motion sensor in the MBP.

Since i've installed Yosemite, I noticed that my fans are always running on high level (6000rpm) for no reason. As soon as I open it the cpu starts overheating (between 195 and 205 degrees) even if there's no apps using significant energy. I already tried to reset the SMC or the PRAM with no results. Â

I try backing up my very important files so I can reformat it but as soon as I try pasting even a 1 gb file it says memory full. I have 2 gigs and that was more than enough for my use.

Macbook pro (older style non-unibody) running 10.6.8 has started randomly shutting down instantly for no reason. Sometimes only lasting 30 secs before just shutting off, sometimes up to 10 minutes. Happens when cool or hot, no apparent rhyme or reason. Tried resetting SMC, no difference. Every few minutes the fan on my Macbook Pro will get from 4000-6000rpm. It gets really noisy and pretty warm. Turning it on/off has little effect and it seems to just crop up, even if i have nothing too crazy going on, example, just now its going crazy but only google chrome (4tabs) and microsoft word are open. The laptop is but 2 months old and this problem only came up a week ago.

I have had a Macbook Pro 15" for about a year now, and suddenly Skype seems to be crashing my computer. The computer has 8gb of ram with an i7 processor, so i have no idea why Skype, is suddenly crashing up my computer. Ive been using, Free Memory, to track how much ram is available on my computer at certain times, and now, when i launch Skype, it goes down to 18mb out of 8 gb. I don't know why this is happening??
