Sometimes my MacBook will shut off for no reason, and then it won't charge anymore. It takes a lot of effort to get it to start charging again, but I don't get it. I don't know what's wrong with it. It just started happening randomly, I don't know what to do. It's under warranty, but I wanted to see if anyone else was having this problem as well? If there's any quick fixes please let me know

MacBook Pro 13-inch early 2011 running OSx 10.9.2 which shutsdown for no reason at 85-95% battery.
I found that this problem is resolved with a firmware fix by applying the latest version of OS to Maverick.
What is the current version of OS for my system? How much memory can I put on this computer?
Currently have 2-2MB chips on it. Can I replace those with 2-4MB chips for a total of 8MB to make it faster?

Recently my computer has been shutting down for no apparent reason. I needed a new battery so I assumed that this was the reason. Now I've replaced my battery but my computer continues to completely shut down.

just came home from Apple Store today with new computer and superdrive, which is not showing up when plugged in. When I put a CD in it reads it for a few seconds then spits it out. I am on the road so getting to an Apple Store will not be easy for the next week.

The first problem, which is what I named the thread for, is that for no reason, while sitting on a desk, doing disk intensive work, the drive clicks fairly loudly and seems to spin down, causing delays. Is it a faulty drive, or can this be fixed via software?
The second may be related to the first. When watching somewhat large movie files (>600mb), the video skips for about 30 seconds every 30 minutes. While this may not seem like much, it is incredibly annoying. Is this because of the speed of the drive, or is it faulty? Coming from a 500gb 7200rpm external for my iMac, I never experienced either of these problems, although I suspect the first has something to do with the motion sensor in the MBP.

Since i've installed Yosemite, I noticed that my fans are always running on high level (6000rpm) for no reason. As soon as I open it the cpu starts overheating (between 195 and 205 degrees) even if there's no apps using significant energy. I already tried to reset the SMC or the PRAM with no results. Â

But other programs still running fine? On my OSX partition only 4 free gigs left. Could this be the problem? I miss firefox, but alas I'm stuck using chrome.

I have an 08 mbp. Was awesome for about the first yr. Slowly it kept slowing down to the pt where I just open up a browser like chrome and the memory fills up suddenly. I try backing up my very important files so I can reformat it but as soon as I try pasting even a 1 gb file it says memory full. I have 2 gigs and that was more than enough for my use.

For some reason, my menu bar is lagging this morning. I even tried restarting. All I have running are last.fm, Camouflage, LittleSnapper, InsomniaX, and Caffeine. Everything usually runs fine, but right now when I click on them to change the preference, it takes a few seconds for the drop down menu to come up.

Lately, my laptop has been freezing for no reason. I've only had it for a year now. Sometimes when I open it to wake it up from sleep, nothing will appear on the screen, but the light indicates that it is on.

Macbook pro (older style non-unibody) running 10.6.8 has started randomly shutting down instantly for no reason. Sometimes only lasting 30 secs before just shutting off, sometimes up to 10 minutes. Happens when cool or hot, no apparent rhyme or reason. Tried resetting SMC, no difference. Ran software update, thought that had fixed it as it stopped happening for a day, then the problem started up again.

My rev C. SSD runs beautifully, for hours and hours, usually without the fan on. Is there any reason for me to upgrade. This is my only computer, and I'm tempted by the old saying: If it ain't broke.

I have been sitting in front of my computer for the last 20 minutes and in that time my available GB went from 27.4 to 26.75. The space available keeps slowly diminishing. The only program I have running now is Firefox, I closed everything else, I am not downloading anything. And yet something is eating space in my computer! Â

Every few minutes the fan on my Macbook Pro will get from 4000-6000rpm. It gets really noisy and pretty warm. Turning it on/off has little effect and it seems to just crop up, even if i have nothing too crazy going on, example, just now its going crazy but only google chrome (4tabs) and microsoft word are open. The laptop is but 2 months old and this problem only came up a week ago.

I have had a Macbook Pro 15" for about a year now, and suddenly Skype seems to be crashing my computer. The computer has 8gb of ram with an i7 processor, so i have no idea why Skype, is suddenly crashing up my computer. Ive been using, Free Memory, to track how much ram is available on my computer at certain times, and now, when i launch Skype, it goes down to 18mb out of 8 gb. I don't know why this is happening??

Since day one, my laptop has been a little off. It would crash every once in a while for no reason, but it wasn't very often so I took no notice. Now it's just gotten worse with time and programs crash on a daily basis, and the entire laptop crashes on a weekly basis. I can't open a lot of programs, even ones that I have just downloaded right now for the first time. I gave it to the geniuses and they ran a few quick tests and said the OS and the ram seemed to be fine, so they wanted to keep it overnight to take another look. Two days later, they gave it back to me saying the ram is faulty. So I went home and reinstalled the original ram that came with it...but I still have the same problem. I'm wondering if the problem still could be the old ram and it just really messed up my laptop even though it's not in there anymore...?

I bought a Mac Book Pro last night. I follwed the set up, completed a migration from my Dell, finished the set up this morning. Now I cannot login to the Mac Book Pro and the log in page has both an apple, and a Dell icon on it. I've tried every password associated with both the Dell PC and my Itunes account.

I know a lot of things that have to do with computers but they are very general things. When it comes to a computer crashing, I have no idea how to find out why it happens. My late '08 Unibody MacBook has been crashing on the frequency of 2-3 times a day or so and is very frustrating! I have no idea why it's doing it, but i did copy the thing I get when it restarts. Here is the log for the last 3 times it has crashed

I'm on my third MacBook Pro and all three of them keep waking up from sleep mode. I have reformatted and reinstalled the OS each time. I have reset the SMC and the PRAM. Still no resolution. It happened again this morning and I started digging thru the Console logs. I found this.
10/29/08 8:33:11 AM kernel Wake reason = OHC2
Can someone please tell me what the OHC2 code means? I have no idea where to find the documentation on these codes. If I wake my computer up from sleep by pressing the power button, the Wake reason code is PWRB.

I've got a new MBP 13" (2.26, running 10.6.1)I'm going to replace the internal with a Seagate Momentus 7200RPM drive. Any reason (heat based) to go with 320 vs. the 500GB? I do video and photos (hobby, not pro), so I'd like to stay with 7200RPM. Related question: I've read here and there issues w/replacing the internal drive -- that the computer is having trouble recognizing the drive. Is this a real issue, or is it fixed.
