Dec 20, 2007I'm creating several movies that will play before a church service begins. Usually we just buy countdown videos, but this time I thought I'd get creative and make some. There is always a countdown timer that starts at 5:00 and counts down to 0. This way people know when the service is going to start, from 5 minutes out. I have been searching and searching and cannot find any way to overlay a countdown timer in iMovie HD or iMovie '08 (I have both).
Can someone suggest something? I don't want just a countdown movie, it has to be only in the corner or something. I want to use some footage of driving to church, make it fast forward so it finishes in exactly 5 minutes, and have a countdown timer display overtop of that in a corner. I've tried using the Slick 5 Gallery for iMovie, but they just have countdown movies, not overlay. Also, the Labels & Overlays from stupendous software has a timer, but it only counts up.

Sep 8, 2006My system has randomly shut down twice now in the last two days. Dual G5 2.3. I checked the console log, which I know very little about, and it said this:

Two questions-
what's the -122 code mean?
Do you think resetting the PMU would be the solution to this?

Oct 21, 2009I have a macbook pro 17" I upgraded to leopard a few weeks ago. Like it does normally, it asks if i would like to do a software update. It gave me five things which needed the update. I run the updates. It restarts and runs updates 1-5 restarted itself it seemed kinda glitchy cause it didnt come on right away. Once it was to the loggin screen; i log in (right password) and then after loading my desktop it logs me out. After repeatedly trying to log in and stay logged in, it logs me out continuously. I've reset the PRAM and the SMC but still it logs me out as soon as it loads the desktop.

Dec 11, 2009My MacBook does not sleep immediately, I have already tried removing safe sleep and it gives me no effect. It is not a hardware problem as my Windows Vista on the Machine sleeps just how I would like it. For info, the Hard Drive that is in it (320GB WD Scorpio Black) was used in an EFI Hackintosh install for my MSI Wind (but EFI installs do not modify the main operating system so I do not know what the heck is causing this)? By the way, the MacBook is custom, made by me. I built it out of three dead MacBooks.
One Black Core duo which was stepped on and had a broken screen and hinges which gave me:
Only working Logic board of the Pack (2.0GHZ Core Duo) I paid 140$ for this one
2 512MB sticks (Removed one and added a 1GB Stick, yes I know matched pairs, gonna find another 1GB soon)
Bottom case.
Top lid
Half the keys for the keyboard.
The Second MacBook Free:
2.0GHZ Core Duo white gave me with coffee spilled on it
Top case with trackpad, and half of the keys
Bezel
Hinges
Screen
other screws etc.

One 2.2GHZ Core 2 Duo which a dog peed on, Free for getting data off of:

Sleep Light, the one that was there originally was borked and did not light, and IR did not work. Now it does
alternative screen with no pressure marks like the one I have now but one noticeable 1/2 inch scratch.

I am yet to finish it. I am still prototyping the new top screen assembly using the Black lid, a red apple, and the screen with a scratch on it, and the bezel from the 2.2GHZ which is really beat up. The current top assembly is straight from the 2.0GHZ White. Here's a pic of it in it's current state.

Jan 4, 2010Put a CD into my 2007 MacBook Pro today to find it immediatly ejected it without even trying to read it. Happens with all disks. I've had a similar problem where it would fail to read disks & eject them after about 20 seconds, that turned out just to be a dusty laser, this is different, takes about 5 seconds before ejecting.

May 6, 2012I've had a late 2011 Macbook Pro for about 4 mths and all of a sudden the trackpad has developed some problems. If I swipe a page it won't allow me to scroll up or down again on the new page that I have swiped too, it freezes. At times when I activate the back button nothing happens and I have to exit out of the site when the page freezes. The scroll only freezes immediately after swiping and not at other times when I'm moving up and down the screens.

When placing my Macbook Pro in sleep mode by closing the lid, it goes into sleep mode, but immediately turns back on (with the lid closed), then after a short time goes back into sleep mode and then immediately turns back on. It keeps cycling like this. Any clues to why it will not stay in the sleep mode?

MacBook Pro :: Black Screen With Cursor For 5-10 Seconds When Trying To Wake Immediately After Display Sleep
Jun 23, 2014I've noticed that when my rMBP (late 2013, Mavericks) turns off the display automatically while on battery (as configured via Energy Saver) and I try to wake it immediately, I get a black screen with the cursor, rather than my password/unlock screen. It remains a black screen, with the cursor moveable, for 5-10 seconds or so, and then the password/unlock screen will appear as usual.
This does not happen if:I don't try to wake the display/computer immediately after automatic display sleep (e.g., I wait 5-10 seconds and it's fine)I turn off the display using a hot corner and immediately wake the displayI put the computer to sleep by closing the lid and immediately wake it by opening the lidI select Sleep from the System/Apple menu and immediately wake it by pressing a key or clicking on the trackpad
Why automatic display sleep is causing this temporary black screen? I currently get around it by setting the time for automatic display sleep while on battery to 10 minutes instead of the default 3 minutes to minimize the chances of needing to immediately wake the screen. I'd like to keep it at 3 minutes if possible to maximize energy savings, but the temporary black screen is really annoying if I didn't really want display sleep and consequently have to wake immediately.
