MacBook Pro :: Not Catching WiFi Signals From Router
Jun 19, 2012
I have a 2011 Mac book Pro with OS x 10.7.1 running on it. Till about a month back it stopped catching wifi signal from my router, and then sometimes it will catch signal from only near the router. I thought that it might only be an issue with my home router. Now in the new city my MBP can't detect any of the wifi networks even in my home or in the office.
So what's the deal with airport and wifi signal in the new macbook pro? It's my first mac and I've been working hard to pay it. Yes, PAY it. And now, my 5-year old toshiba laptop gets a much better wifi signal than the brand new cutting-edge mbp. I'm assuming it's a hardware issue, so it's practically unfixable.
OK so I've got this MacBook and I'm getting wifi signals from my neighbors and from my own.
I use mine and I get this PC server on Finder under "SHARED". I'm just a little bit conscious because it just stays there. How should I remove it to keep it from accessing my Mac.
I just bought a new mbp and my old 17" MacBook pro 2006 2007 models screen was not really working so I decided to take the screen off and use it as a kitchen computer with an external monitor. The problem is that my airport extreme is in a room right next to the kitchen and the old mbp is not picking up any wifi signals not even the neighbors wifi but, my new mbp can pick up the signals where is the wifi antenna located?
I have a macbook pro 15" retina. I am a photographer and have to upload images at the end of every day. I noticed that the internet speed was flucuating a lot. From like 3 mbps to 30 mbps. I thought it was the internet service at first, but then noticed if I turned off the wifi on my macbook, then turned it back on, I would get a full strong signal. It would then start to slow down again to a crawl. Is it the macbook or maybe a Apple Express Airport update?
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)
I have the 13" Macbook Pro mid 2012 model and for some reason the wifi status bar would show full strength however when I open up Chrome or Safari the webpages won't load at all. I'll get a message saying something like "can't connect to Internet." I first thought it was my modem but all the lights are lit up and it shows I do have an Internet connection. I get the same problem with my ipod touch 4g as well. Only on the ipod's side it will try and connect but fails to do so at all. So I have two devices that fail to connect despite an existing Internet connection.
Setup main airport extreme with one laptop wireless N and another with the lower grade plus 3gen touchs. Could I set up the express to send out the N/B/G WiFi while the extreme sends out only N wifi?
Ever since I installed to 10.6.1, I have been having issues with WiFi.
I'm only getting 3 bars, and my iMac is sitting less then a foot away from my AEBS, on 10.6 I was getting 4, also I've been dropping my WiFi connection every hour or so, and I have to turn AirPort in on my iMac off and turn AirPort back on.
This is really annoying and I don't know what to do, anyone have any ideas?
I've already reset my AEBS twice and that hasn't worked.
I'm back at my dad's place for the summer and I'm trying to connect to his house's wireless connection on my MacBook. It seems to connect okay when I type in our 10-digit password next to "WEP 40/128-bit hex" in the drop-down menu, but then even with full signal bars, it loads browser pages very slowly if ever, usually just giving me a timeout error and it's the same thing across all programs, my instant messenger takes forever to connect, WoW takes forever to connect, if ever, basically the internet I get from this connection is useless. It's odd because both my sisters have MacBooks and the internet works fine for them at my dad's house when they connect, and MY internet on my computer works perfectly when I'm using any WiFi but this one. By the way, the transmitter is a "D-Link 514 2.4GHz Wireless Router" and we're connected to cable internet.
Update: * I have tried resetting the router and that didn't help. * I have tried changing the channel, authentication method and password and that didn't help. * I tried a DNS troubleshooting guide and it doesn't appear to be a problem with that.
When watching hulu even with a great connection speed the video will drop frames and skip but the audio will not. It's weird that the audio doesn't skip also. When watching videos in itunes the video catches or the audio gets repeated like a record going back 2 secs.
I am a new Mac user with a new Mac book pro. The Mac was connecting to wifi until today. Today I added another wifi connection through mifi hauwaei modem. Since then I cannot connect to my old wifi access point. It connects but not getting the Internet or get to the router using 192.168.2.1. I can still connect to my mifi. My iPhone, iPad and other laptops can connect to my old access point with out any issues. I use zyxel router as my old access point.
I just bought my new MacBook. Got it all set up, wifi works like a charm. But one problem is I cannot access my router (Using 192.168.1.1) like I can on my other computers. I'm trying to get my MacBook and my desktop running Ubuntu networked together, but I can't, and I believe this is the root of the problem.
I have a 13 inch macbook pro running lion, and I sublet a basement of a house as im currently in university. About 2 weeks ago, my internet said it has a self assigned IP. My brother, who lives with me, also has a macbook pro, bought a year later, and also running lion. His internet works fine, which i find odd as i thought wifi for one router has the same IP. I tried all the suggestions, such as deleting wifi from my network preferences, deleting the airport.plist file in the library, and restarting my computer.
why my Macbook Air will not recognise my wifi router when my MAcBook Pro and Iphone do immediately. I have switched airport on and off on my Macbook air repeatedly and it will not pick up the wifi that my Pro and Iphone immediately recognise and connect to. After 20 minutes or so of switching airport on and off, it found the router and I successfully connected. After use, I powered down the MAcbook air and crossed fingers that having connected once it would recognise the router again unfortunately not another frustrating 20 minutes of trying despite my other apple devices remaining connected. Info: MacBook Air, iOS 5.1
i am traveling to my parents and want to use my aiport to get wifi. my fathers computer is not running on wifi. what do i need to do to get my airport to work with his router
I am using my computer as a router to get wifi on my iPhone, it sees the network but still can’t get connected, the mac docent send IP address or subnet mask numbers ..etc to the phone, although the same phone is able to get connected to other macs/routers fine, what can i do to my mac?
I am using MBP 13 (Non Retina ), It doesnt detect my wifi router always, Sometimes it does, When it doesnt, my other laptop and phone can detect the same wifi.
Every time I switch on my Macbook Air, or wake it up from sleep, I lose my wifi connection. If I restart my wifi router, the signal comes back, but once my Macbook Air goes to sleep, I always need to erstart my wifi router again. This is the process I go through several times each day:
(Wifi router is on.)
1. Turn on Macbook Air. It recognises my wifi network but has no internet connection.
2. Restart my wifi router.
3. After a few minutes, I get an internet connection on my Macbook Air.
Previous laptops and desktops have not had this problem. Do I need to change any settings in my Macbook Air? I'd be grateful for any help.
I have a 2010 Macbook Air (bought second hand) running OS 10.6.8. I am using a D-link wifi router.
So I'm trying to connect my MBP to my new Belkin Double N+ (F6D6230uk4) router. I have 2.4 ghz set to b/g and 5 ghz set to n and 20/40hz bandwidth. Last night, when I connected to the router for the first time, I was showing 300mbps, when you Options+click the Airport icon. However, now I'm only showing 145mbps. To be fair, I may have changed a few settings between now and then, but I have no idea how I was able to get 300mbps before. It's as though it's only connecting to one channel, instead of two, which is required for 300mpbs I think?
i'm currently using the linksys w610n router thru wifi, i'm experiencing very slow internet speed on pages loading on safari but when i tried to download files on igetter, it goes on full speed
Never had a problem until this mourning. My Mac Mini could not get online. I have a netgear router and it see's it but can not connect to it. Funny thing is my iPad and iPhone cant connect to the wifi anymore either but my wifes Dell laptop can.
My wi-fi signal keeps failing in the house, but the fixed connection is stable. This might well be a stoopid question, but can too many wi-fi devices cause a router to go unstable? In the house we have four macs, two iPhones and three airport expresses. The router is the standard one that comes with O2 broadband in the UK and has been pretty reliable until the last couple of weeks
I just bought a snow leopard mac mini server, everything came as a bundle pretty nice. The snow leopard server software preinstalled on the mac mini too. Only thing I'm not sure about is does this also act as a wifi router? In the back of the box it says "airport extreme wireless networking included", I assumed this means that this can act as a wifi router like an aiport extreme? Is this true?
I have done everything contained in this link to make my Mac a wireless router. We are connected to the internet via ethernet.http://maketecheasier.com/create-wif...s-x/2009/10/20I just purchased a piece of crap Android tablet that I absolutely hate, but cannot return. I was able to wirelessly connect to a local linsky connection, but it has since disappeared. I am now making every attempt to enable the Airport on our Mac so that I can actually use this garbage Android tablet. The tablet I am using is a Next2 (garbage, don't waste your money).
It took me a lOOONG time but I finally bit the bullet and bought a macbook. So far so good, I will be giving it a memory upgrade in a few weeks but right now I could use some serious help.
The computer won't connect to my Netgear WGR614 wifi router. I called Apple, they said the airport works and I may need a router firmware update. I updated the Netgear router. I have tried using the WEP, the WPA and also tried with the router set to zero security. The macbook still won't connect. Here is the kicker, my old windows based laptop and my wifes newer netbook picked up the new upgrade without issue.
The macbook (I loaded all the macbook updates with hardwire) will go through the network diagnostics and end up being unable solve the problem.
I live and work in Mainland China. There are a lot of sites I'd like to visit that I'm unable to do so because they're blocked. I'm a bit paranoid about internet security, especially here. I always connect behind a strict firewall on my wifi router (D-Link DIR-655) with SPI and NAT in addition I have the firewall on Snow Leopard set the strictest---to block all incoming connections. What I'm concerned about, is the VPN software of Witopia bypassing that firewall in my router. Will this happen? Does anyone know about the fine details of Witopia's VPN software and what it's doing, how it's connecting, etc?
