My wi-fi signal keeps failing in the house, but the fixed connection is stable. This might well be a stoopid question, but can too many wi-fi devices cause a router to go unstable? I just jailbroke my iPhone 3GS and installed MyWi to work with my iPad. I also tried it on my MacBook Pro using Bluetooth. After I paired my iPhone and MacbBook Pro together everything worked fine. Now under the Airport Menu I see a separate category labeled "Devices" which is just below where my Home Network is.
My questions is how do I go about deleting this? I've tried everything. I deleted my device under Bluetooth Preferences, quit MyWi, messed around with the Network Preferences and it still appears under the Airport Menu. I even clicked connect but of course that doesn't work since I quit everything and deleted the device in Bluetooth settings. It's not even listed under "Preferred Networks" when you click on the advanced tab. It appears as "(my last name) Hotspot" and is under a tab labeled "Devices"
My macbook pro is connected to the internet via WiFi router, and it very often it happens that my macbook loses connectivity with it. WiFi logo shows the same signal strength, but all browsers (Safari & Chrome) can't load webpages.
This issue can be solved by turning WiFi on and off, but it happens again and again. It looks like connectivity loses when Macbook goes in sleep mode and get's back from it, but sometimes connectivity issues happen even without sleep mode switching. I found in the internet that this issue can be solved by turning off Bluetooth.
i Have a late 2013 Mackbook air since upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1 Serial No CO2LXR9SF5V7 my key board has stopped working. Can login with key board but then that is it does not work thereafter. Wi FI keeps disconecting.

After the update my other computer and devices are not work my iMac's wifi. If i try to load a page with my other computer that use this iMac's internet sharing the page takes forever to load or doesnt load at all. It go with my xbox and iphone.

I am a new Mac user with a new Mac book pro. The Mac was connecting to wifi until today. Today I added another wifi connection through mifi hauwaei modem. Since then I cannot connect to my old wifi access point. It connects but not getting the Internet or get to the router using 192.168.2.1. I can still connect to my mifi. My iPhone, iPad and other laptops can connect to my old access point with out any issues. I use zyxel router as my old access point.

My brother, who lives with me, also has a macbook pro, bought a year later, and also running lion. His internet works fine, which i find odd as i thought wifi for one router has the same IP. I tried all the suggestions, such as deleting wifi from my network preferences, deleting the airport.plist file in the library, and restarting my computer.

I have switched airport on and off on my Macbook air repeatedly and it will not pick up the wifi that my Pro and Iphone immediately recognise and connect to. After 20 minutes or so of switching airport on and off, it found the router and I successfully connected. After use, I powered down the MAcbook air and crossed fingers that having connected once it would recognise the router again unfortunately not another frustrating 20 minutes of trying despite my other apple devices remaining connected.

I've bought my 11.6 inch MacBook Air a few weeks ago and I am really unsatisfied with the battery life I get.The reviews I read before I made the the purchase claimed that the battery life in basic usage like web browsing or watching videos was even higher than apples claimed 5 hours.I've tested my MacBook Air's battery and it lasts about 3.3 hours during video playback with wifi and bluetooth turned off and no USB devices attached to it.

It took me a lOOONG time but I finally bit the bullet and bought a macbook. So far so good, I will be giving it a memory upgrade in a few weeks but right now I could use some serious help.
The computer won't connect to my Netgear WGR614 wifi router. I called Apple, they said the airport works and I may need a router firmware update. I updated the Netgear router. I have tried using the WEP, the WPA and also tried with the router set to zero security. The macbook still won't connect. Here is the kicker, my old windows based laptop and my wifes newer netbook picked up the new upgrade without issue.
The macbook (I loaded all the macbook updates with hardwire) will go through the network diagnostics and end up being unable solve the problem.
I live and work in Mainland China. There are a lot of sites I'd like to visit that I'm unable to do so because they're blocked. I'm a bit paranoid about internet security, especially here. I always connect behind a strict firewall on my wifi router (D-Link DIR-655) with SPI and NAT in addition I have the firewall on Snow Leopard set the strictest---to block all incoming connections. What I'm concerned about, is the VPN software of Witopia bypassing that firewall in my router. Will this happen? It works well now since I just use it on a couple laptops I have but now that I'm buying an iPad I want to avoid an extra $30/month for data and just share the data plan with it. Since the iPad doesn't have USB that means I'll need a solution to use Wi-Fi on it.
I came across the Cradlepoint PHS-300. It's nice since it has an internal battery or can plug in and is fairly small and I simply plug in my aircard to make a local wi-fi access point that I can use on the go with either my laptop or iPad.
My question: Are there other options on the market? Cradlepoint makes some others but they don't have a battery. I want one with the most battery life for the smallest sizes and have been unable to find any from Linksys but are there other items like this on the market?
Also, another question. I'm happy with AT&T's data plan but my contract is up shortly. Does anyone have opinions of Verizon or Spring or even T-Mobile? I don't know much about T-Mobile and it seems like Verizon's plan is similar and even Sprint's current 3G plan is similar. it seems once 4G is available in an area though for the same price of $59.95/month you get unlimited data. that sounds too good to be true and is it really true and is the service and speed good?

I currently have a Belkin wireless-N router (the cheapest one I could find, regrettably) so that I can have wifi in my dorm room, but this router isn't cutting it anymore. I've given the password to a couple of my friends, but their favorite things to do while on my network are Skype, Hulu, and ESPN streaming--leaving me with an unreliable, slow wireless connection.To help with this problem, I want to buy a Time Capsule--I'm really looking forward to using its wireless backup and printer sharing features. My first question is, though, will a Time Capsule be able to handle multiple bandwidth-hogging wireless connections faster and more reliably than my cheapo Belkin router, or will it also choke? (I know for a fact that the problem isn't my university's network, because I get blazing fast download and upload speeds via Ethernet.)
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I'm trying to connect my MBP to my new Belkin Double N+ (F6D6230uk4) router. I have 2.4 ghz set to b/g and 5 ghz set to n and 20/40hz bandwidth. Last night, when I connected to the router for the first time, I was showing 300mbps, when you Options+click the Airport icon. However, now I'm only showing 145mbps. To be fair, I may have changed a few settings between now and then, but I have no idea how I was able to get 300mbps before. It's as though it's only connecting to one channel, instead of two, which is required for 300mpbs I think?
