I am trying to upload my music library that I have stored on numerous CDr's to itunes, but, when I put these in My macbook pro reads it as a blank disc. If I put the same CD in My Mom or Dad's Macbook pro's it reads it and uploads it as expected. I took one of my parent's random CDr's & it uploaded to my itunes just fine. It seems to be only the CDr's that I really want to upload.

I have a Mac Mini running 10.5.8 and the latest version of iTunes, 10.6.3. I used to be able to burn music discs at maximum speed with no problem. Lately when I burn a disc, my CD player won't read it. (But the Mac Mini will recognize it as a music disc.) Over the years, I have taken many suggestions to improve the stability of burns. "Only use Verbatim discs," someone said. OK. And yes, I am using CD-Rs, not CD-RWs. "Slow down the burn speed," someone said. Yep. That worked for awhile. But now it's not working.

I have a Samsung external drive from which I can play and view these small discs that are not compatable with iMac. I need to upload from these discs to a New Project or a New Event in iMovie. I cannot figure a way to upload for editing and produce a finished movie. My iMac forced me to get a Canon HF-R100 camcorder with an SD card for the iMac SD slot.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just picked up this macbook refurbished that came with 1GB of ram. So I picked up 2 1GB sticks to replace the old ram. When I installed it I got a black screen. So I put one of the old(512MB) sticks back in and it booted up fine and read 1.5GB. So I ran a bunch of different combinations of new and old sticks to make sure that I did not have a bad piece of ram and all of them work fine, just not when I use 2 1GB sticks. I have to have one new and one old for it to work.

View 22 Replies View RelatedMy macbook pro cd drive seems to be acting up. It doesn't like to read any of my burnt cd/dvd-r, but it reads 'proper' and blank DVDs just fine (by 'proper' i mean like DVD movies, Apple Tiger OSX dvd, and such).. The discs that it refuses to read are fine, no scratches or anything. It takes the disc in, spins and tries to read it for about 3 times and spits it out. I've tried using those DVD lens cleaner discs with brushes on them.. but they didn't help. I've also tried resetting my PRAM (and the other one where you hold the power button for 5 seconds while shut down), and that didn't help either.. If it matters, my superdrive details are: MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857D: Firmware Revision:KCV9 My machine is bit over 2 years old, so it's no longer on warranty/AppleCare. Has anyone encountered this before?

ALSO, I'm not able to burn CD's.

I have a iBook G4. The cd player all of a sudden is not reading a dvd or a cd when inserted. Never have had a problem with it at all. It tries to read it and then just ejects it. Tried to reinstall a new dvd software for the dvd player but didn't help. Just tried to insert a blank cd to burn jpgs to it and did the same thing, just ejected it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have burnt a dvds on macbook pro3,1 running OS10.4.11.[large picture files, jpegs and tiffs which work a treat on lap top] when I put it in mac pro1,1 running OS10.5.8 it shows as a blank disc. Eject and re-enter it a few times and it might recognize it but it might not. check it in lap top and its fine. This happens with a variety of disc types, and sometimes it is fine.

I have a Panasonic DMR-EZ47V recorder and I've converted some of my VHS to DVD+R. They were finalized and are able to play back on the Panasonic machine, but when I put them in my laptop it tells me I have inserted a blank disc. About a year ago the same discs played on my computer just fine, so I don't know what has happened since then. They also play on my Sony Blu-ray player, so I know it's not just the disc or the player. What has happened that now my Macbook is showing the DVDs as blank and what can I do??

I recently decided to sync my Safari reading list between devices, using iCloud.
When I altered the iCloud settings on my Macbook so that Safari was synced, what happened was not synchronization.
What happened was, my up-to-date Macbook Safari reading list (Date X) was replaced with my dated iCloud Safari reading list (Date X minus say 100 days), and the intervening items apparently lost.
I need to retrieve the items lost in this synchronization failure.

OK so I bought the computer for 650 from my friend and soon after buying found a problem. The problem was the optical drive not reading all the disc that I put in the system. So I took the macbook pro to apple they installed a new super drive. I get home today and try to install snow leopard and have a issue. The way I went about was starting up holding the option button and waiting to boot from the disc for a fresh install. First time I tried I got a symbol that look like the restricted sign you see when you cant smoke in a area ect... So I restart and try again this time I get to the install screen click does the estimation ect.. 34 minutes than goes to 28 minutes pretty much has frozen there now, and after waiting all this time about 20 minutes I get the spinning beach ball. Also forgot to say that the super drive is now super dooper annoying loud and make odd sounds too with vibration. So I guess make another apple gen bar apt? And have them possible replace the super drive again?

When i put in my Leopard install disc and hold the option key to boot from the disc, my macbook pro spits the disc back out. It will not load it. So i took my Tiger install disc and booted it and completely erased and repaired my HD. But still my macbook will not boot to the Leopard disc upon startup. It simply trys to load it, then sends it back out.

However, I've just read a few articles online about not being able to write onto the HDD while using windows xp since the partition would be formatted in ntfs? Does that mean I wouldn't even be able to install programs on my windows xp in boot camp??
