Jun 11, 2010I am trying to upload my music library that I have stored on numerous CDr's to itunes, but, when I put these in My macbook pro reads it as a blank disc. If I put the same CD in My Mom or Dad's Macbook pro's it reads it and uploads it as expected. I took one of my parent's random CDr's & it uploaded to my itunes just fine. It seems to be only the CDr's that I really want to upload.

Sep 8, 2014Just got a MacBook Pro. It hasn't been able to upload pics, attachments to any website. Facebook, Gmail, Google+, ect. It was like this out of the box. I have tried Mountain Lion, Mavericks & Yosemite Beta 2 and then Internet Recovery back to Mountain Lion & currently on Mavericks. Same on all OS versions. Also the same on Chrome, Firefox & Opera. Tried 2 different routers..same results. No other device on my network has this issue. In a Facebook message it will send stickers but not photos or files. The photo & attachment progress bars on Facebook, Gmail, ect get stuck at about 50% after hitting send and then fail. The firewall is off. Downloads are perfect.

OS X :: Unable To Copy Music Files / Merging All Music Files In One Folder?
Sep 25, 2010I finally ripped my music into digital format. It is a very large library so I performed the rips in four segments creating four folders of music. The highest level folders are Music1, Music2, Music3, Music4. The next layer folder is the artists name, then album name, then the actual MP3S.
How do I merge the folders? If I perform a copy the first artist name is sees that already is exists, the finder wants me to skip the copy or replace the folder that is there. I simply want to add the folder or merge it. Is there a "merge" function in OSX? I tried Carbon Copy but it will not copy or sync fils on the same disk.

Software :: Files Grayed Out In NTFS Mounted HDD
Dec 8, 2010I have an MBP running OS X 10.6.5 and I have a 500GB external HDD with 2 partitions (NTFS & FAT32), which I mounted to my MBP using FSTAB. Some of the files in the NTFS partitions are greyed-out, and i can't copy/open them on my MBP.
1. Copying the file returns this error:
"one or more items in {file} can't be changed because they are in use"
2. double-clicking the file does nothing
3. Right-click > Open With, returns this error
"Item {file} is used by mac os x and can't be opened"
I've used Terminal to move the file to FAT 32 drive and my MBP Desktop, but steps #1, #2, #3 still don't work. I realized the files that are greyed out are those that I copied from my MBP to the NTFS drive. Existing files in the drive can be opened.
Applications :: SWF Files Grayed Out In Safari's File Menu?
Jun 23, 2010This is weird, but apparently it does it in 4 and 5. I just never had cause to notice. I'm working in Flash on a PC, brought an swf to mac to try it in different browsers. It'll open ok in Firefox. But in the Safari open file menu it's grayed out - in spite of the fact that it loads these from websites all the time without issue. So I went into Get Info for the file and found that neither Safari or Firefox were listed under 'Recommended Apps'. It did list Quicktime, which insisted it was not a movie (it even has Flip 4 Mac and Perian). I finally got it to load by clicking 'Show ALL applications' and clicking open with Safari.
But why on Earth did I have to go thru all that? Does anyone know why mac doesn't recognize a simple swf file as openable on it's own hard drive?

Aug 21, 2009I have transferred my itunes music on to my external HD. The music is there and that is fine. I then deleted the old itunes folder from my actual HD. I have now wanted to access the music on the external HD, and have attempted to select the new music file location on the external HD via the itunes/preferences/advanced window,selected the new file path and it will just not show in itunes!

Oct 7, 2009Two months ago I switched web hosting providers/services from a Linux server to a UNIX server. For the most part the functionality is fine but the ability to upload files using any FTP client is near impossible. We've tried Fetch (4.x and 5.x) Filezilla, Cyberduck, Dreamweaver, and an old copy of GoLive but it takes 6 minutes or more to upload a 230byte file!. The upload is relatively fast but it hangs up on the exiting handshake, or drops the connection and has to reconnect.
We spoke with Fetch and tested both copies on their UNIX server---no problem. We've tried our other clients on other UNIX, Windows, and Linux servers---no problem. We've had the web host and our service provider look at DNS blocks, etc. and all seems to be fine. Pings and trace routes seem fine. The web host company indicated that they believed that it was an issue with their server but eventually threw up their hands and said that they couldn't figure it out (not Mac friendly I suspect). My questions is two fold:
1) Can anyone give me an idea what IS the problem?
2) Can anyone recommend a good 'Mac-friendly' web hosting service that doesn't have issues with Mac's, will allow installation of a variety of CMS, eCommerce solutions, and of course seamless FTP access with variety of clients.

May 29, 2012When I select to upload a document into a form in any of the browsers, I get the "File Upload" window, but then the spinning wheel just spins and never loads my files on the system to select to upload.

Dec 8, 2008I have some sound effects that I have on my external hard drive that I want to listen to and add to my iTunes, but whenever I go to do that I get a message that says I don't have permission to write on my music folder. I am the only account on my Macbook Pro. I checked and I have the rights to read and write on my music folder. I don't know how to fix the problem. It also happens when I add music that I downloaded from the internet not iTunes. Sometimes with that I just have to hold option or command (I don't remember off the top of my head) and that'll let me copy the music into a folder that I created. May 8, 2012I created my website using iWeb, and use iWeb SEO Tool (3rd party software) to upload onto the internet so that my website can be found on the net. But since upgrading to Lion OSX I can't open my iWeb file in iWeb SEO - my Library file has been moved and my iWeb file has disappeared!! I have since found the iWeb file through Finder (by using Go to ~/Library/) but still cannot find it using iWeb SEO so can't upload changes to my website.

When I try exporting using Compressor to the mp4 format, the sound quality is there, but the video plays at half speed and has vertical lines in it. I've tried it several times, and have even first exported a .mov file from FCP, then used Compressor only to have the same results.

Software :: Transferring Files From Lacie To Pc / Itunes Unable To Find Music Files?
Aug 15, 2009I have a Lacie external hard disk that was originally formatted for PCs. I have some files there, but more importantly, my iTunes library is saved directly on the Lacie (I have everything on apple lossless, so they are some big files). I will keep using this PC while connected to the Lacie hard disk to syncro my iPod.
The problem is that I bought a mac now and I wanted the Lacie hard disk to be able to transfer files from mac to pc and vice versa. I have already read that I would have to copy the files that are on the Lacie, reformat the Lacie and then paste the files back. My only doubt is that if I do this reformatting, will I have any problems using the iTunes library while connected to my pc and iPod?
I just ask that because every time I changed any iTunes library folder on the computer, the iTunes would say that the music file couldn�t be found and ask me if I wanted to look for the file. I didn�t want to reformat the Lacie to later find out that I would have to �look for� every single music file, because that would be nearly impossible. I don�t know if I was able to make my question really clear�
