MacBook Pro :: Network Contiually Dropping On New MacBook Pro
Apr 25, 2012
I have just bought the new 13" 2.8Ghz i7 core MacBook and have to continually have to keep connecting to my network.I have 2 older MacBooks, iPhones, Apple TV and other family members using PC's on the network at various times with no issues.I have mentioned this to some people around town here in Dubai and have mentioned that I am using Etisalat provided wireless router.

My problem is I keep loosing 'Internet' signal on my network, the network still runs fine and all computers (macbook, imac and macbook pro) are still connected to the network and can still transfer files but there is no internet connection. I am not 100% sure but this seems to happen once more than one computer is on the network at once. It happens randomly and their seems to be no real sequence or pattern as to when it happens.
I was advised to change the ports on my router from 11 to say 6 or others, this didn't seem to help, and I have since thought as my imac is hard wired with an ethernet cable this wouldn't effect this computer as it is not connected over wireless but this computer IS still affected. I have tried numerous hard resets and fimrware updates etc but no joy, the router i'm using is a Belkin http://www.jivetel.com/product_info....in%20F5D7230-4

Out of nowhere--i.e. independent of any changes to my system, settings, equipment, etc.--the audio from my iTunes feed to my WiFi network is dropping out every so often. No pattern to it, just once every couple of minutes or so the sound just disappears for a second or three. My iTunes/media is proprietarily serviced--independent of my data WiFi--by an older Airport XPress which is hooked up to my stereo. I've restarted everything in the setup but it keeps happening. The data WiFI is independently serviced by an Airport Xtreme.Â

Coming from a perfect working copy of VM2 and XPPro now to VM3 and XPPro (+ 7 Ultimate) both machines drop the network constantly now with VM3. The network adapter becomes unavailable and sometimes 7 can repair the connection by restarting the adapter, but sometimes a full reboot of the entire iMac is required.
I never lose connection on the Mac side, only the VM side. If you are running VM3 and having this issue please post up, or if you have a solution that would be great.
EDIT: VMWare sets by default that you use the Mac's NAT setting in Virtual Machine>Network Adapter, but the proper setting is actually Bridged>"your router".

One thing that has always bugged me about Mac OS is that when a network share becomes unresponsive or unavailable the shortcut on the desktop disappears and you get a glaring messaging that the share has been disconnected. Is there any way to prevent a network share from being removed just because it becomes momentarily unavailable? As an example, on a Windows machine the network share shortcut remains, you simply cannot use it but it is there and ready to go the moment the share comes back online. Is there some way to make OS X behave in this manner? Or is there a way to extend the time out interval for a network share?

So my 4 year old macbook has a logic board problem where it no longer detects the battery. The battery indicator just shows an "x". So basically it works fine but it has to be plugged in all the time. I've heard that if a Macbook does not have a battery in it and is just running off of AC power, it will cut the CPU speed in half in order to cut the power consumption. I want to see if this is true or not. I have ordered a new MBP but I was going to sell this computer for my friend for very cheap, but I need to make sure its not actually running at 1ghz, cause I'd feel bad about selling him something like that. The computer is perfect otherwise.

Often times, the signal gets weak.... and then dies. I know its not my router cause my iPod touch is able to connect to it fine. And then it took me 20-30mins to reconnect. At some points, it see the router, but then says "connection timeout" or it just doesn't connect and then my router disappears.

I have had my MacBook sense Oct. 2006 and not until recently had any problems with the airport. Currently it will connect to any network as per usual and then with out notice just cut out for a few seconds and then come back on.
This isn't a huge pain if Im just browsing the net but if I am trying to hold a conversation using skype, IM, or downloading things it can get very very annoying. It cuts out about every 2 mins. It is not a problem with weak signal because when it is on it is showing full bars.
I have tried it under both my home network and my university network both resulting in the same thing. Is this a hardware issue (crossing fingers it isn't!)? Anybody having similar problems?

Is there something wrong with my computer?? Some special update that I don't know about?? this is so annoying!! I'm running Leopard 10.5.8 but this happened also on 10.5.7 and I am using an early macbook pro model - about 3 years old. I will be connected to the wireless fine all day then like right now it drops the signal and i have to hook my computer up to an ethernet cable. I can restart modem, router, and computer but I haven't found a solution except to try again in a couple of hours and it will work fine. I know it's a problem with the computer itself and my apple care just expired so i hope it's not a hardware issue. Anyone know anything? I've tried changing the password protection on the router but still same result. Just pissed off that my $3000 computer can't hold a wireless signal.

im fairly new to macs and im loving my macbook pro i got a few months ago. Only issue that's been happening is the wireless connection seems to be dropping every once in a while. Its gotten to the point where its pretty annoying. I dont have any issues with my buffalo routerand im not far from it as well. Im running snow leopard 10.6.3. I will be in the middle of working so its not like the laptop is in sleep mode where i know the wireless will drop which is understandable. If you need any more inf please ask, i havent had issues with my old dell and the same wireless router. Oh, after the connection drops, it will scan and find it(the router), then ask me to put my password in again, thats about it.

I just bought my macbook this past weekend. I've noticed a drop of over 100 mAH in my battery's full capacity, after two cycles. Is this normal? Does this drop slow down?

My Wi-Fi drops out all the time and I have to reset the WiFi to reconnect. When I look in the signal bar is says it is still connected, this will happen about once every 2 to 3 minutes. I have contacted the apple help desk and was told it must be my modem. I have two phones, an ipad, 2 windows laptops and my macbook pro is the only one that has problems with the WiFi. have also taken it to a repair agent and was told it was my modem.

I am connected to the office network via a router (WiFi). My internet connection has been working fine for the past 8 months and now all of a sudden, I can't stay connected for more than 3 minutes. I have tried deleted the network name and re-connecting it but still no joy.

I have a MacBook Pro running OS X (10.6.8) and I have a Netgear DGN1000 wireless modem router. My laptop wireless connection keeps dropping out lately but the internet connection itself is okay - my provider tested and no dropouts show up so it is just the wireless connect from my laptop thats dropping out.

I'm having a problem maintaining my internet connection. Every so often (~15mins) my computer loses its connection without warning. I have an old MacBook running OS X 10.6.8.Â
The problem started yesterday when I lost connection. Going into network diagnostics everything was green as far as ISP - Internet and Server were the only ones failing. Restarting the router/laptop did nothing, and no-one else using the router had any connection problems. Eventually, the problem was "solved" by renewing the DHCP Lease, except that now the connection drops. It can be restored by going through the Diagnostics and is usually fixed when I reselect my network, whereupon it works fine for a while before being lost, which I usually discover when trying to load a page.Â
I have tried restarting the router and laptop, I have tried renewing the DHCP Lease again. Once again I'm the only one on the router experiencing connection issues.Â

I'm running OS X version 10.4.11 (Tiger). It's a 13" Macbook, two years old, from August 2007. I've recently been having a bunch of problems with it.
First, it drops its wireless connection a lot. Most of the time this happens while I'm playing World of Warcraft, but I've seen it happen even when I'm not. Everyone else connected to the wireless will have absolutely no problem with it, but my Airport icon in the upper righthand corner of my screen will go grey and then connect again, then go grey, connect, etc. I also experience a lot of latency in my connection when others don't (example with WoW... someone else will have 98ms latency, and mine will shoot up to 2500ms or so). Most of the time when this happens my entire computer seizes up. My game skips, my iTunes skips, my mouse skips or won't even move, I can't type or click, etc. Additionally, I've had it happen even when I'm connected to the internet with an ethernet cable with Airport turned off, and my internet connection will die completely until I restart my computer.
I've had problems with this computer in the past as well. About two months after I bought it, it wouldn't boot up and I had to reinstall the operating system. Then a year after I bought it, my motherboard crashed, and they couldn't really tell me why it might've happened.
Second, I've had two kernel panics in the past two months. The first one was July 18th, 2009, and the second one happened just about half an hour ago today (Sept 4th). The panic.log is as follows (both dates are included):

Two days ago I got a 'new' refurbished 13" MBP from Apple to replace my aging 2006 MB. It's ok, but not quite as nice as I expected. One major thing I've noticed is that the wireless reception is much worse than my old MacBook. They're both connected to a Netgear WGR614 v9, but the MB is getting about 2/4 bars, while the MBP is constantly dropping the connection. In fact, right now I have the MB booted in Win7 and it's running Connectify, in order to share the connection with the MBP. I'm downloading the latest software updates right now, and then I'll see if any firmware is available, but I doubt that will make much of a difference. Is this because the new MBP is made from aluminum?

My macbook air keeps dropping my home wifi service, I get a message telling me there is no internet service. I still have a PC and it connects to internet service even when my mac cannot so it has nothing to do with the internet provider. I have to delete, reinstall my internet connection a couple of times to try and get it back up and running.

I am having a huge issue with my wireless dropping once connected to my MacBook Pro (Model A1278) 13.3". Wireless connections are not dropping on my iPad/Laptops/Iphone. Running Leopard 10.6.8 and have updated everything. It started about a month ago and is inconsistent in terms of how long I stay connected, but never more than 10mins. Luckily I run an SSD and can reboot in 10seconds.

This is driving me crazy. I have tried so many fixes but nothing has worked. Every time I hibernate / sleep my 2012 macbook air, the wifi drops and takes at least 20 minutes to come back on when I open the laptop again.Â
I can reboot, turn the wifi off and on, change preferences...everything. Nothing works.
