MacBook Pro :: MAC Error Using It As WiFi Connection
Jun 26, 2014
I don't have WiFi internet at home and have an Ethernet cable plugged into my Mac Book Pro from my modem. From there I can use the Mac Book Pro as a WiFi transmitter and can surf the net on my iPad and iPhone using the Wifi from the Mac Book Pro.When I try and connect my XBOX One via Wifi to my Macbook Pro the Xbox one detects the Mac Book Pro and after I enter the password it mentions something about a MAC error.

I have a Time Capsule wirelessly connected to my iMac. Since I've encountered some problems with backups because of intermittent wifi connection failures, I want to switch to a wired connection with an ethernet cable. I know I could fiddle with the wifi channels etc. but since the TC is just sitting next to my iMac anyway, I could profit from the higher bandwidth of a wired connection as well. Two questions:
1. What exactly do I have to do to make the switch? Are there any new settings I have to apply? Create a new network?
2. Will I still be able to use the wifi connection to get on the internet using my smartphone?

Just got a new MacBook Pro, and it is having wifi connectivity issues. Every time I fully shut down and restart the computer, it will not connect to my house's wifi. Rebooting the wifi solves the problem. This didn't happen w/ my old macbook, and no one else in the house is having wifi connection problems.

I have recently had BT infinity installed and ever since, I lose internet connection on my Mac. When asked for the WPA password that I was supplied with, I put this in, but it says it is invalid. The only way to get a conncetion, is to press reset on the router. Then the same things happens the next day. We have tried changing the channel, frequency, etc. I thought it might be a setting on the mac...

Evey time it goes to sleep or I turn it off it forgets the fact that there is any wireless around. I have to look for the networks. Then if it wants to will find them and trying to connect to my own wireless network (apple extreme) is a challenge. I do have parallel desktop installed, could that be the problem?

I have a 2 year old macbook that just refuses to connect to my wifi, I also have 4 other apple devices that connect seamlessly. it registers the network, it joins the net work and then fails, I have had several different error messages as follows while re entering my password I get a dropdown box saying I have changed settings, this then sends me back to the preferences to start again. and then i get error message that my password is incorrect (I can confirm it is correct) I have also been to the genius bar, and we managed a connection for the duration of the visit ( a healthy reading too apparantly)they carried out a hardwear diagnoistics check and it was given a full bill of health. I was advised to insert the reinstallation disk and carry out a reinstall - I have done this and the problem is still there. So my 6 month old Unibody has had an issue for a while that it drops the internet connection, though keeping the network/WiFi connection. It started out just on campus where there is a campus wide SSID that is unencrypted, though requires a login to start browsing. A restart of the computer fixes this issue, though it always repeats itself (usually after 30-45 minutes of browsing, no downloading). Lately, the issue has been getting worse. It is now dropping the connection on other APs, and even stops the Airport card altogether (KisMac can't even scan). I had a backlight bleeding issue fixed by Apple. Is this connected? I know the airport card is in the screen, so maybe they didn't fix it well.

I will try and be as clear as possible and I hope I posted on the right board.
1. I connect my MacBook air to email via WiFi at home.
2. When I do this I can send and receive emails using the mac email program
3. I can also connect to the internet as well.
Now the problem
1. When I am in a hotel say and connecting to the internet using a WiFi hotspot:-
2. I can surf the internet with no issues
3. But cannot seem to send or receive any emails.
I also have a similar problem with my IPhone except even at home I can't send any emails when WiFi is on but it receives with no issues. Again, using a WiFi hotspot I have the same issue. Turning off WiFi and switching to 3g or edge I can receive and send email.

For the past few months I've been using my mid-2007 MacBook (running Snow Leopard) with a Samsung external TV/monitor (with the MacBook's lid closed). I had no problems whatsoever in terms of internet connection to my D-Link DIR-655 router. Yesterday for the first time since creating this setup, I took the MacBook with me somewhere. When I returned the MacBook to my network (closed lid, plugged my monitor back in), I started having WiFi trouble. The WiFi was initially running very slowly and then not at all. The WiFi icon on the menu bar was showing regular strength, however.
The complicating factor here is that when my MacBook is on, all other computers on the network show getting WiFi signals but the connection isn't working for them either. When I turned off my MacBook and powered down/up the modem and router, other computers could connect successfully. (But when I turned my MacBook on, the computers lost connectivity to the internet. I've already played with the router's channels without success. I also made sure there weren't any unnecessary items in my Mac's DNS listing.

I used to have 16mbit DSL line where I did not see any difference between using a cable or wifi Connection, but now i have a 50mbit VDSL line and now I do see a difference, but why? Wifi n 300mbit 4.2-5.1 mbit (it changes a lot during the download) Cat-5 cable 100mbit 6-6.4 mbit (very stable) I used Rapidshare to test the speed, downloading from about 6-8 servers at the same time

I'm looking for a solution to my WiFi internet connection. I haven't used my MacBook Pro laptop in the last week or so - which means there is no way I have done any changes to the network configuration. However when I now try to connect to the internet via a Hub - which is previously set up on the macbook and worked no problem - is now not working at all.

All day, I am able to use the internet (via WiFi connection) at the library. But when I get home, I can't connect to my home WiFi connection. This was never an issue before. I have done all of the obvious things (resetting my router, clearing saved connections from my computer and joining a 'new' network, check and installed all updates, etc etc), but nothing seems to work. All the other devices in our house are connected to the WiFi just fine.
I run the diagnostic and I'm only green on WiFi and WiFi settings, with network settings and ISP fluctuating between yellow and red, and internet and server is always red. I have tried DHCP Lease renewel (which usually does the trick when I am getting an invalid IP address (169.xxx.x.x) until I get a valid one (192.xxx.x.x). But now sometimes I'm not even getting an IP at all! All I wanna do is unwind, check/reply to emails just surf the web to decompress after my long days.

There's something wrong with the Wifi connectivity on my Macbook Pro. Every few minutes, I lose connection to the internet even though it says I'm still connected to my network. I have to turn Wi-Fi off and then on for it to start working again. It only works for a few minutes and sometimes hours, but then I have to turn Wi-Fi off and then on agian. It only happens on my MacBook.

I've been having a problem with my WiFi-connection for at least two weaks, and to me it seems as if it started with the latest OS update I installed. When I turn on my computer the wi-fi connection sets up just as usual, with a strong signal and the networks I frequently use. I can run my browser, e-mail programs and downloads just as I'm used to, everything works fine - and then all of a sudden connection is lost while the wi-fi symbol still shows full signal. When I open the menu to see what networks I can connect with, there are no networks shown by name, the signal-symbol sill having all its stripes filled.
It is neither a router or network problem, because the same happens when I'm on campus and my girlfriend has no similar problem with the connection on her MacBook (nor have I on my iPhone).

I use a 4G Galaxy Nexus to broadcast a private WPA2 network. The 4G signal is always strong, and I've verified that the internet is active on the broadcasting device, and that other non-Apple devices maintain a solid connection. However my macbook pro does not lose the network connection, the internet stops working only on the macbook pro and I must "turn Wifi Off" and back on using the top right menu icon in order for the internet connection to resume working on the laptop. It will stop working every 5-10 minutes.

I have a macBook pro, running Yosemite, and cannot connect to 5GHz on my dual band bt home hub. Keeps saying 'invalid password' even though it is correct. I have given the 2GHz and 5GHz separate names and passwords and can now connect to 2GHz without dropping al the time, but am frustrated re 5GHZ. Even when stood next to the router it will not connect or recognise password.
